Part 3 Jalaal in Amer

Jalaal leaves for Amer and except for Rashid no one knew of his plan. He reaches Amer in 3 days time on his horseback with 5 of his men accompanying him. Jalaal dresses as a common man so that no one recognizes him. At the entrance of Amer main gate he poses as a merchant & gets entry. He looks in awe all around the city which was bright colorful, he thinks how different it is from his Mughal kingdom, as he nears the palace he finds it decked up with flowers and different color flags as if some festival was underway, Jalaal was curious to know what was the celebration for when he hears some people talking of Jodha. Jalaal immediately goes near them & hears them saying its Jodha's birthday today.

Jalaal - Toh aaj Rajkumari Jodha ka saalgira hain... wah humne bhi kaisa din chuna hain unse milne. Aaj toh hum unhe saalgira ki Mubarak deke hi rahenge.

Jalaal and his men continue to explore the city where jalaal gets to hear much more about Jodha. He comes to know that she is no less than a man when it comes to bravery or defending her people, she is well trained in swordsplay, archery, horseriding and even singing & dancing. With every new information on her Jalaal's curiosity & interest in her keeps rising. For someone who is used to seeing women as just a partner in bed or care taker like a dasi Jodha was indeed different which drew him to her. He didn't know any other shehzaadis who was so multitalented... she was like a challenge to him a challenge he wanted to win and master.

Jalaal sneaked into the palace along with few traders who had come to sell jewelleries. They all were led to ladies quarter of the palace where many queens and Rajkumaris were trying jewelleries & decking up.

Every year Raja Bharmal did a yagna on Jodha's birthday for her future happiness and today too the yagna was performed. Jalaal looks around the palace quarters hoping to catch a glimpse of Jodha but finds her nowhere.

He sneaks out of the group and starts to search for jodha when he hears some girls giggling. He hides behind a curtain and peeps in. He finds few dasis surrounding a lady who is sitting in front of a mirror but Jalaal is not able to see her.

Wah kya baat hain jodha aaj toh tum aur bhi sundar dik rahi hoon.

Jodha - Mot tum bhi naa..

Moti(Jodha's maid but a good friend) - Aur nahin toh kya... aapke jo who aane waale hain aaj toh tumhara chehra khilega hi.

Jodha - Moti chup ho jao... aisa kuch nahin hain...

Other girls - Aaj hamare honewale jijasa aarahe hain .

Jalaal wonders who this fellow is and gets a bit edgy. The thought had not come to him that Jodha may be engaged or already betrothed

Jalaal - Kuch bhi ho rajkumari...aap toh sirf hamari hain.

The girls move aside and Jodha turns towards them when Jalaal catches a glimpse of her and his breath catches midway...She was looking stunning...last time he had seen her in a soldier's attire but today she was from head to foot a Rajkumari. Decked in best jeweleries, a pink color lehenga and matching Dupatta she was a picture to paint. Jalaal couldn't even blink. She was looking ethereal and the very thought that someone else is in her life made him furious. Jodha was waiting to perform her evening pooja and then have dinner with the family. She was also expecting Rajkumar Bhanupratap ( her future hubby) to join them. She looks at herself in the mirror & blushes thinking of Bhanupratap.

Moti - Aapke who aagaye chaliye jaake unse miliye

Jodha smiles & says - Moti tumhe bada aanandh milta hain na hume tangh kar ke.

Moti - Nahin jodha hum tumhare liye bahut khush hain... Rajkumar Bhanupratap aur tumhari Jodi aisi lagti hain jaise ki tumhari kaanha aur rukmini jaisi.

Jodha hugs Moti happily & leaves meanwhile Jalaal fumes & thinks - Jodi toh aapki sirf aur sirf humse banegi amer ki shehzaadi.

Jodha returns to her room late at night and starts to remove her jeweleries, she recalls how the whole day had passed in a pleasant way and she feels very happy. Her day was made best with Bhanupratap coming all the way from lucknow to wish her and he brought her many gifts. She looks at one particular necklace & picks to wear it when the lamps around her go off causing darkness.

Jodha - Arey yeh achanak se itna andhera

She hears footsteps and thinks its Moti

Jodha - Moti zaara diya phirse jalaana kitna andhera ho gaya... Moti...Moti..

When she gets no reply Jodha gets a bit scared & says - Kaun hain wahan

When someone puts a hand on her mouth to silence her.

Jalaal - Rajkumari Jodha aapko janam din ki bahut Mubarak.

He then takes out his right hand and puts a bangle over her hand. Jodha struggles to speak while Jalaal removes his hand.

Jodha - Kaun ho tum.. yahan kaise aaye

Jalaal comes very close to her even in the darkness he could see her beautiful face especially her eyes. He wanted to hold her face, feel her skin but realizes its not the moment & says - Hum who hain jiske saath aapka aane waala kal juda hain... Aap sirf hamari ho jodha sirf hamari. Hamara intezaar kijiye hum bahut jald aayenge aapko lene.

Saying so Jalaal looks at her one last time & leaves while Jodha stares at the darkness.
