I applaud you for the last line Suchi!!!
You're the only one who has verbalized what I've been feeling since months now!!!

It angers me that the makers of this show & that the sentiment behind most Indian shows is the big, bad wolf equivalent of a Hindi show hero had to change or worse, is reformed by the naive, pure in every sense of the word, virginal soft-spoken female lead. 😡

Seeing this post has me a little heartened to see another share my point of view. 😳

So thinking for a while I started understanding why she is behaving that way. IN the episode where she praises prithviraj chauhan , we can clearly see the reason. The hatred for Mughals.

even after being married to one, what has been embedded in hearts and minds does not change in matter of months. It has been taught to her that Mughals are ruthless and are their enemies. Her father, brothers, fiance everyone single person around her taught just one thing to her... she learnt to fight from the age 4 for one and only one purpose. Defeat the Mughals.

When a person has been brainwashed this much, then its extremely difficult for them to change loyalties no matter how the circumstances has changed from the other side.

So even though Jalal is going out of his way to be nice to Jodha, she just responds back by rudeness. But we did see some change in her .. and that was due to the inner struggle between her personality and what she has been taught.

She unlike Ruqaiyyah does not look down upon others nor is power hungry.
The only thing she does wrong is hating Jalal. Her reasons were very right in the beginning but now its changing so the inner struggle is going on and she is not able to weigh out and respond accordingly. Even though she wants to thank or apologize her immense pride of being a rajvanshi is coming in between her and Jalal.

She def. Needed a ice breaker and in my opinion that happened yesterday when Jalal, who I am sure did not become intimate with her. She thinks otherwise and this is where she will understand the true genuine nature of Jalal. That he is the man of his words.

The biggest problem between Jalal and Jodha is they do not trust each other.Only and Only when they start trusting each other will their egos subside. Jalal being the King is more prone to see things from others POV as thats important quality for a king.
But Jodha , does not need to do that. She has been the princess who can just have her opinion and not care about what others think. So she is holding on to her false pride of being rajvanshi and hating mughals rather than seeing things from Jalal's POV.

But the time will sure approach now.

ANywayzz for me, I think the tag line is other way around. Its not Jodha who made Jalal a good man from cruel emperor but its Jalal who is making Jodha understand that there is a world other than Rajvansh that is vast and she needs to learn to respect all the cultures.

We as viewers have no problem with her being upset at being forced to marry a non hindu, barbarian(as per rajputs mughal are barbarians) emperor. But what we have issue is when jalal who also has no special liking for her(ok he got an offer to marry an rajput princess and accepted it) still does not cross his limit and is respectful of her especially in public. But jodha always crosses her limit with jalal in public. Ok for us if she does not consider him husband but he has a certain position-an emperor and the rest of the world observes how such a person is treated by those around him and based on that they will decide how they behave with him. This is true of all public personalities not just akbar but in present days someone equal to him may be a PM?President of a country. There is a protocol to follow which own family has to follow at least. Look at hamida she is at logger head with jalal and jalal also does not like her that much and has complaints but does these two wash dirty linen in public no? Nothing can justify jodha's behaviour with jalal ta this satge.
Regarding Ruqaiah she has had almost as bad a childhood as jalal except for being taken hostage. Her father Hindal Mirza opposed his brothers Kamran and Askari and left his jagir and was a vagabond for most of his life. Ruqaiah and her mom and dad must have had tough times roaming the hills of kabul, kandahar trying to make a life just like Humayun, Hamida and Akbar. Its only couple of years before he died that he again met Humayun and helped him win back kabul and akbar's freedom. For two years almost he took charge of humayun's campaign fought his elder brothers war(they were step brothers) because he felt that askari and kamran had crossed their limits by threatening akbar's life. So our assumption that Ruqaiah had a great luxurious life from birth itself is inncorrect. Her life had been as tough as jalal and also she lost both parents at very young age her father at 8 and mother even younger. Akbar and family were new to her she had not lived with them before her father died.
Yes the only advantage Ruqaiah has over jodha is she knows jalal from a young age but jodha does not. But jodha definetly has had a very secure, protected and luxurious life than these two. That also shows in both their characters. Jalal and Ruqu are always scared, insecure and not trusting and aggressive because of their early life struggles. They are scared may be they do not want to go back to their early life of struggle. They both know what it is to have enemies chasing them, no food, no house to call hme, no family life together with parents etc. Jodha has been brought up very lovingly by very rich parents and has had a blesed life hence she is more trusting. She does not know any struggles of life. Jalal knows that that is why he treats her with kid gloves and forgives her everytime.
Jalal also knows about Ruqu's tough life and hence does not want to give her any hurt any longer be it emotional or physical. He does not want Ruqu to feel he is going away from her liking some other wife more than her even if he does in his heart. She will be special to him in a different way like a cousin sister like a childhood friend whose hand cannot be let go not matter who else comes in his life. Its a tough act yes but how he does it lets see. We all know in real life Akbar had made her Malika-e-azam(empress) and Malika-e-khas(chief consert) in his court and palace. He also gave her the rare honour of staying in his own palace at agra fort(like they show in serial) which his other begums never got may be because she must not feel lonely. Jodha had salim and salima had rahim and khanum in their palace but ruqu had no children of her own to stay with her in her palace. Being childless must have eaten into the core of her mind and heart for sure. That is why even Jehangir got close to her and treated her like his own mother all life, may be akbar had a very big role in nurturing this relationship that in his absence she does not feel left out and lonely. That may also be the biggest reason that she asked and he gave khurram to her. But how jalal manages to get all this done without jodha and ruqu getting jealous of each other is what serial can tell.
Here you can see the character of jodha and ruqu through the kids they brought up, they both had taken traits of their mothers and caregivers apart from father and some learned by outside interaction.

And Suchi about ur last line ...can you tell me when has Jodha not been respectful to his culture?

look we r not saying jodha to love jalal or the vice versa. bcoz love is not a easy thing. but want to say few things.:-
1) sukanya's finance ratan singh was giving shelter to the dacoits. so jalal would have killed him, even if his marriage was not fixed with sukanya. even bharmal said the same.

2) yes jalal has guilt for sure, but only a gud human being can realize his mistakes. how egoistic people like him will have the guts to accept his mistakes?? 2ndly, whtever he did is not a small thing.

3) he is showing lots of patience which is not a easy thing.

4) jalal can do any thing if he wants. he can destroy amer, he can kill her brothers, maan singh, break her krishna mandir. but even in worst situations he havent done anything like tht. she had married him to save amer, so he can destroy amer even now. cant he????

noone wants jodha to fall for jalal so soon. at least i dont. when he is wrong her rudeness is totally justified. but at least she should exchange sum civil words with him when he is doing right things. its not about loving him, its about being bit polite.

P.S.:- @TM, plz dont confuse our posts about gud behavior as falling in love. there is a diff. b/w civil behavior & love.

No Jalal would have discussed and put the fear of god in Ratan Singh if he was not Sukanya's fiancee...
It is naive to think that a powerful king could do anything...he was not at all accountable to his actions...The truth is no government can last without some amount of public support...

Infact has not Jalal need to explain his action to moulavis?
It is simplistic thing to say that jallu could do this and that and yet he didn't do...

@Ela actually i do support in Jodha in her behavior towards Jalal. She did have a lot to loose in her marriage with jalal (personally) than viceversa. so to trust him is not an easy thing. And like you said, jodha has to give up a lot and change a lot ot fit in unlike Jalal.
but yeah my last line is that...
Jodha needs to understand that not everything is about being rajvanshi. That is where she is flawed in my pov. cause she weighs everything with that. For her being a rajvanshi comes first than her personal life.

Which is fine by me and that is what explains her defiance and acceptance in Jalal's good towards her.

Once she breaks that barrier and understands that she is no longer a Rajvanshi but a Mughal. She will see things in perspective. I think she has started to do that in front of others at least. That beggar wala scene, the way she supported Jalal by saying htat she will stand by him no matter what etc.

Its a start.

Jalal's problem is that he does not trust her completely like he trusts ruqaiyyah. Once he starts trusting her he will start to look at Jodha from different perspective. Stop doing Tana bazi and the tone he uses towards her - mocking... Jodha hates that.

He does that just to tease her and to get reactions from her cause he absolutely lovesss that. But that really really irks her. She wants dignified respect towards her.
And well Jalal ... lol ends up teasing her or makes X rated sounds to make her feel embarrassed lol etc.

I mean its cute . I am loving that!!! and I hope he never gives that up .. but from Jodha's POV thats a big NO NO. lol

And more than that she wants trusts. I think this incident will cause that. She will understand that , even though he had the opportunity to sleep with her , he did not. and that will put the final nail in the coffin of trust lol.

anywyazzz.. my pov is guyz that..

Jodha if she is not like she is now, Jalal will be BOREEDDD.
and we do not want that. I do not want Jodha to ever be respectful to him if thats what will keep him on the toes hehehe

I really want Jodha to give this emperor the run for his money and power. She will always remain the horse he couldn't control. And I love that about Jodha and Akbar.

Warna story tho boring hai yaaron. Who needs another ruqaiyah or salima !!

excellent post...i want to add certain points...she is a young girl who comes from a small kingdom..she has been brought up in a loving family...she was about to marry a man who really loved her...whom she could respect...and with in a blink everything changes in her life...her fiance is killed...amer pays a heavy price...all of sudden her parents tell her to get married to jalal who comes from a different world for her...
let it be any era ... it is very difficult to overcome break- ups, loss of husband or fiance...wo time toh 1500s tha...jalal is a sweet heart...jodha will discover that ...but it will be a very slow process...she will take a good amount of time to overcome her past, fears and pride...

jalal will also realize soon that jodha is a kinda women who is capable of loving a person with all she has...she can fight the whole world for people whom she loves...same applies to jalal...they both are birds of same feather...
