Edit: Lashy, late to the party, but loved your post!
edit2: What lashy said , way better than me!😆

Only, this particular action of Jalal doesn't really seem violent/malicious to me...its egoistic, but not unwarranted...😳 Any king'd want to get back what is his...the bloodshed Asoka left in his trail was more profound and spurred purely by imperial ambitions...

Couldn't turn a blind eye to your blind comment... so you see I am not THAT blinded. Didn't know you could put a personal comment for a fictional character.

Hmm... I like Jodha because within the jaded old woman in me, still resides a young femenists. Who sees, recognizes and appreciates good woman when they see one. Jodha is a good woman. She is righteous, courageous than many in her era, is gunvaan(horse riding, sword-fighting, cooking, teerandazi, dancing(ermm...not much), etc. And so far her behavior with Ruq, MA, etc has been far more dignified, queen like than well Ruq, MA, etc can ever hope to achieve.

My dislike for Ruq stems from her brashness and though she says she is the oh so mighty mughalia Begum, she comes across very petty. If she is so mighty, she need not say it. And because she says it, it means she is not. I hope they fade out that silly character soon. She is very boring.

MA's dialog delivery has lately turned screechy and preachy (perhaps she sees ground moving beneath her feet and the edge of cliff far approaching??) But have to agree she is acting a little stupid. So she is not exactly the antagonist, I love to hate. She is not that smart anymore. Burning Daadisa's gift..c'mmon, grow up ol oman. Act your age. It was a little like me throwing my little daughter's hand drawn card to get back at her for throwing my cooked food in dustbin! Huh. And it is expected of Jodha to understand this gesture and the folly of her gesture from this ...???

And though people say Jodha acts like a ganwaar' woman(I could have used the exact and better English word from one of the very well worded post on this forum but I'm too scared to pick a fight), I find her no less sensible and well behaved than any other women of Agra. Perhaps HB, Salima? But then again people dislike HB for liking Jodha? I guess HB is only someone who recognizes good.

I am not going to go into the details of her other mistakes because those were blunders. But blunders do not make a good person bad. She does not know shrewdness because unlike Jalal, her uncle had not put her in line of fire at toddler age! She has not been brought up by cruel vicious people like MA and BK! She has not seen fetus killing women infesting her residence. I am pretty sure if she had been brought up by such people she'd be a better strategist than Jalal himself. For Jalal has not learnt the lessons of his life. For a man brought up in his kind of circumstances, it's very easy to see that Sharif can harbor a grudge against Ameris and Jodha cause of the past-won-and-lost land? How can he not be skeptical of people around and make sense of the horrors surrounding him? Jodha looks pretty black and white. So a benefit of doubt is certainly required. He comes across foolish by not giving her that. He does not tie the incidents of Gwalior Hakim reaching late to attend him(courtesy the kaput attack) ,attacks just outside Amer, Hawai incident. With same breath we can chide Jodha and Jalal. ... I have plenty of reasons to find Jalal silly just as many have to find Jodha silly.

And no, I do take seriously MA's advice that, swimming against the current could lead to drowning. But I do not minding drowning in IF...LOL

But I guess this was long coming from me and blind word triggered it.

It was only a light-hearted comment Minoo...you seem to have really taken it to heart...😕

I didn't think it anything beyond a mild tease when I said you're 'blinded' by Jo's love 🤔 but, I don't think you liked it...

Also, its not me alone, I don't think most would call Jo shrewd...I have admired and praised her good qualities too...

But, I realize you're very attached to this character so I shall refrain henceforth from expressing anything about Jo in my replies to you - since, a character that's nothing beyond a part of a fictional tale being cooked up by Ekta, I wouldn't dare annoy a real-life friend of mine...😃

Lo... Yahaan type kar akr ke thak gaye but you could not understand me... Actually not your fault. It is difficult to understand what I say by many since my narration is not as good.
I was only saying that yes many do not call her shrewd, but by same breath and same argument, I could call Jalal also not shrewd,,,, will type more later.Abhi ke liye... please do not dismiss my debate points for my love for a character...'sniffs'

Yesterday episode has both Jodha and Jalaal playing diplomatic..

While Maham come to gave lecture and good lesson to Jodha is to win Jalaal not going against him, but she find solution that's what Jodha followed..

I think Jodha didn't expected Jalaal giving Fort and shocked when Jalaal gave a smirk to her.

She gave it back to MM told Jalaal will do whatever he want and may I go to meet my husband is one more stroke MM got...

Jodha even suspicious and thinking Why he gave the Fort ?

Jodha and MP are only suspicious one about Jalaal act while Ameri's were happy for marriage and MA, Shariff and Adham fueling and angry on Jodha.

I just what Jalaal to thinking back of war, as it is linked to Sukanya in laws. Even though he is RIGHT as a King...But surely failed as a BROTHER choosing Shariff as husband to his sister and still has blind faith on him... When he will get the Shariff true colours ?

Hamida is the one who felt bad and happy seeing his beti and fav bahu Jodha crying and apologise.

Waiting to see how JJ relation will go after the truth comes out..

Dear Lashy,

I agree entirely with all that you have written, and would only add that the very fact that you (and I) have to write it down is proof of the general lack of understanding here of how any power structure works, any one at all.

The other thing: how come no one is in the least bothered about Sukanya's future after Jalal has recaptured Ratanpur fort? I seem to be the only one to worry about the poor girl, and bar my own ideas of how Jalal would make sure she is not harassed in her sasural for his doings, which I have mentioned in my post of today, the other very good idea is from Jaya (deejagi) that Jalal might appoint the Rat Prince as the mandalik of the Ratnapur fort, under his own aegis, thus solving all the problems at one stroke!

This is politics!
There is a saying that there is no villain or Hero in politics - only success and failure! The villain in this serial is not AK, Sharifu or MA. The villain in this serial is the backdrop - the backdrop of politics! 😛

Shehenshah
Once you're trying to keep half of India and many other countries with people of different religions and classes under your control - you cannot achieve that without some amount of scheming! Thankfully, they haven't shown Jalal as pristinely innocent (like in the movie). It would be quite unrealistic! Shehenshah Akbar was not Lord Ram or Raja Harishchandra. He was a conqueror who knew how to keep what he conquered! Now, this could NOT have been sustained without the use of shrewdness - much like the shrewdness that Chanakya used to guide Chandragupta Maurya (Yes situations were different, but the principles similar!)

He tried being fair to people who were fair and wasn't deliberately unfair to people who were unfair. However he wasn't fair to them either!😛
Now, he doesn't know that the Dawalgarh people have also been beguiled by Shareef and when he does come to know, I would like to see how he'd tackle the situation. But, till then I'm going to sit back and enjoy this joy ride!
Being the Shehenshah he cannot afford to let people twist his arm/walk over him. I'm glad they showed that he didn't take being 'cornered' lightly [Be it the emotional cornering by his sweet Begum or the blackmails by Achal]! He fended it all off - with a mischievous wink and a shrewd ploy.

Begum
Coming to Jodha - She tried getting to solve the matter in the right manner. When it didn't work, she used a manner which was not entirely wrong - but, not transparent either. Did it work? Yes it did. Instead of sticking to being the 'holier than thou' person that female leads are expected to be today, she played it smart and it did the trick! Go lady - this is the kind of person I'd like to see pitted against our semi-villanish lead! A lady who can use her wit, adopt to the situation, preserve her dignity and yet get her way (for a positive cause, of course)!

I absolutely loved Jodha Begum today!
I absolutely loved Shehenshah Jalal today!
No storm was raised. They both used tact! They both achieved their goals. He kept Achal Singh at bay and she reduced MA to a silent watcher!

The scenes were not an ode to 'How to be a righteous ruler and empress'
The scenes played out were an ode to 'How to be a successful ruler and empress'

Go Jalal...Go Jodha!
Gotta love this serial! What a treat to watch such devilish politics play out by such enticingly good-looking leads!
So entertaining and yet so realistic!
I'm sure there's going to be fireworks when the truth comes out, but hey its Diwali...we shall stand back and watch - wouldn't we?😛

Yes we have...we're ready to provide temporary shelter to Sukanya and Vajinder too..
as long as Jalal promises to visit of course😛

On a more serious note, thanks aunty...
In a following note and in a few other places I have mentioned about Sukanya's future...for one, I'm not too worried because how much ever the dramatic license used here, I don't think they're going to show Dawalgarhs torturing Suks and Jo learning of it - running to help her sister etc etc

Secondly, Sukanya is still the sister of the Shehenshah's Begum...as mentioned relationships here are political...they cannot risk the wrath of the Shehenshah...they might not give her the status/respect she deserves, but they wouldn't go out of their way to abuse her me thinks...😊
