There is a detailed post by history-geek regarding MUZ who was a Rajput princess, which explains why she would hv been one of the most beloved begum. As far as the lover boy image is concerned, not only Akbar, but none of the abovementioned kings, i feel fit the bill, taking into account the no of women they married😲.( at the most they can be short of being called womanizers)😡 Mourning fr the dead wife cannot be the saboot of sublime love. We mourn the death of our pets also. Sublime love calls fr supreme sacrifice, wherein one exchanges lover's death fr one's own life.Ramadil, Khusrau's love can be held as one👏.i agree mixing history with our personal opinion is not a good sign. But we still see these signs in many of our historians. While myviewprem likes to call spade a spade, I would still like to believe in jO-ak love story, at least as long as the serial lasts😛. if not akbar, at least we cannot take away the credit frm that gritty lady, who married the Mughal king against her wishes, but on her own terms, not contemplating on suicide, fought all the odds in hostile environment, n emerged as a winner, with the title MUZ.👍🏼I admit my failure to see the serial in a dispassionate n indifferent way.😳
I think, there is a post regarding Denial n Murad whose mothers r unknown.i am really happy to know that any begum would bring up other begum's child which is very rare in today's world👏😆
Jehangir love for Nur Jahan can be called true love because of all efforts he did to marry her and number of years he never forgot his love. She was his childhood friend after all.
Regarding Jehangir marrying 17 other wives all these were majorly arranged marriage or political marriages not out of love. A king/prince cannot say love like in modern times and ignore his duty of securing his kingdom and in those days marriage was only way to preven bhagawat and forge alliance. Also Jehangir never married after nur jahan so he truly loved her.
Shah Jahan too married other wives for politics and then married mumtaz as he loved her. He never gave importance to ther wives and always gave prominence to mumtaz and her kids. He had 2 more daughters from senior wives but he did not care for them its more duty for him not love. Also he did not marry other wives till mumtaz died so he loved her.

Who exactly is a concobine?one who came with nazarana upon conquering? Among all these wives, how their stature was to be decided? Was there really anything like begum e khas? Was the emperor really bothered abt that? The baandis were also wives? Concubines were married to the king or just keeps?Just wondering if any of these so called wives had affairs outside, as king would not be available to all of them😛

A son's last wish
In his ambition to seize the throne, Aurangzeb was extremely cruel towards his three brothers. He had his brother Shuja pursued into the jungles of Burma, where Shuja disappeared. Aurangzeb then executed his younger brother Murad. Finally, he turned his attention to his older brother, Dara Shikoh.
Dara Shikoh was captured and paraded through the streets of Delhi before being decapitated. The citizens of Delhi were heartbroken at the death of their beloved Crown Prince. Dara Shikoh's son, Suleiman, went to Srinagar for asylum, but the King of Srinagar, instead of giving him shelter, arrested him and sent him to Aurangzeb, who had proclaimed himself Emperor. Aurangzeb's name means 'Ornament of the Throne'.

When Suleiman was brought before Aurangzeb, Aurangzeb felt a momentary sadness that his nephew was in such a miserable state. He asked Suleiman what he wanted. He assured his nephew that if he wanted to leave, he would not be killed.

But Suleiman said, "If you want to fulfil my only desire, then kill me immediately. You have killed my beloved father and my siblings. Now I do not want to remain on this earth anymore."

Aurangzeb said, "What are you talking about? I shall not kill you. I shall allow you to go your own way."

Suleiman said, "I do not need that favour from you, uncle. Only one favour I want: kill me here and now."

This was Suleiman's oneness with his father and love for his siblings. Aurangzeb's sadistic nature came to the fore again and he imprisoned his nephew. He was angry a prisoner had the braveness to stand in front of him and speak like that with such braveness.

Each day a powerful dose of opium was administered to Suleiman and his physical condition deteriorated. After a year and five months of this suffereing finally, he was strangled by the prison guards. He was not even given a proper funeral and was buried in traitor's cemetary in 1662 at age of 27. His wife and baby daughter were also killed sometime back in an unmarked grave. Only one daughter who was very small survived the persecution and was married to Aurangzeb's youngest son Mohammad Akbar after 10 years.

How did Aurangzeb die? of natural death or murdered?

@krishi di n paps I feel that the info abt child in this thread is much more apt than the other one. Becoz the kind of info which myview shared is similar to what I read 3 months ago n it was not from wikikpedia. Plus AKBAR Was definetly not a one women man who will have child from only one wife.even shah jahan n jahangir had child with other wives despite being the lover boys.while Akbar had more than 15 wives after HK. N daulat shad was indeed mother of one of the daughters. Twins were from HK one daughter as well.

Pri and Krish, Even I was confused a little bit about Murad but here I came up with some calculations 😆

Salim was born on 30th Aug and Murad on 7th June, the exact age difference was 10 months 5 days. (As 1570 was not a leap year)

It is said Akbar did not visit new born Salim for apporx 45 days so lets consider he met mother and the baby on 15th Oct, from this date to Murad's Birth date the exact days are 7 months and some 20 days, so Murad was definitely a premature baby if he was HK's son. This is possible.

Secondly, Aram Banu was born to HK when she was 42 years old, it did confuse me but its possible to have a child in 40s and even 50s also. But yeah before reading Abhay's post I've read Daulat Shaad's name everywhere as mother of the two daughters.

The only thing bothering me most is, why none of the scholars/historians ever tried to find out the actual truth ? I mentioned the same thing in Abhay's post also, if the monuments survived Aurangazeb's madness then so did some Chronicles but none Foreign or Indian Historians felt the need to dig deep and correct the available sources ?

Cocubbine is not a wife, she just stays with a man(like live in relationship of modern days)
She does not have any legal rights on property etc in some countries cocubbine children cannot become king(european monarchy, russian etc)
Yes but some kings especially mughals treated children born from them as equal to all other children which is admirable
Status of wife is usually decided by emperor. The highest status went to those princesses who were timurid birth like Ruqaiah, Salima, nadira etc because they are related by birth to emperor. The other queen status was decided by emperors.
Akbar had 3 chief consorts or emperess Ruqaiah, Salima, Hira kunwari(Muz). Ruqaiah being first wife was Empress of mughal empire till her death(longest serving)
Yes emperor could appoint his chief consort or consorts or empress like Babur appointed sister Khanzada, like Jehangir first Jodh Bai then Nur Jahan, Shah Jahan(Mumtaz then Jahanara) Aurangzeb (Roshanara then Jahanara then his elder daughter ) etc
The bandi is not wife but can be used by king like a cocubbine. Again their offspring equal to their wives offspring. Ex Jehangir last 2 children Shariyar and Jahandar born to maid servant
Bandi and cocubbine usually got in war, or if anyone likes a woman take her from her father/husband by order (like daulat shad) etc
In one historical book i read after age of 30 no king keep relation with wife since in those days average age is 35-40 years so if they get pregnant their life in danger(except Mumtaz who had kid at 39). So no king, emperor etc kept relationship only platonic relationship wife wife/cocubbine after 30. And also offspring born after 30 mother usually not healthy or danger to mother or baby life.

premature baby n baby in 42 😲 science broke all barrier.!! Seriously I m simply not able to believe the other thread which claims almost 10 babies from HK with few unborn. I mean seriously before salim's birth she suffered so much n all of sudden efficiency increased so much?? Of all children few daughters were from daulat shad for sure.

Pri, thats true ! Both Murad and Aram's case are exceptions considering the 16th century which was devoid of medical facilities like we get for the mother and new born in today's age. One of my relative had baby in 40s and I've seen myself how dangerous it is for both mother and the baby's health. I'm not sure now 😕.
