Under normal circumstances a woman would be offended if someone added extra 10 pounds to her face.

She would have given Jalal another lecture had he made that painting.. Hum jaante hain.. aapne yeh jaanbhooj kar kiya hai. Taane maarna, aadesh aur dand dene mein to aap maahir hain hi.. aaj aapki yeh kala bhi humne dekh li. 🤣

Today episode Jalal-Jodha interaction is good and he missed what she told him (She came to share kheer with him).. Jodha without thinking slipped the word "Mugal". and ask for apology, even though it did hurt him..

Liked the scene where he smiles to herself remembering Jalaal story and little kids praising her husband... She had that pride...

Jodha-MA scene was OK, MA just want to take revenge...The dialogues of Jodha could have been better, just like you mentioned ...

Mahaam Angaji, wo toh meri bhool thi. Par aap to mujhse badi hain, aayu mein , jeevan ke anubhav aur gyaan mein. Agar aap bhi meri us samay ki naasamajhi aur nirankush krodh ko dohrayengi, so apke aude ka maan karna nahin hua na?

Didn't liked Prathap and Jalal play and also Sukanya sasural..Adham-Shariff are planning again in Ameer with the name of Jalaal...

🤗

Jalal-Jodha: The earlier part of this scene was charmingly quasi-domestic, even if Jodha generally looks, whenever she is saying anything to her presumed life partner for the next 6 janams, as if she had a toothache😉.

If, for example, she had smiled even slightly while asking him if he now trusted her not to poison him, think how much more delightful the scene would have been, and this without the least slippage on her side towards affection or caring, only towards mischief!

I think the transition is slow...its at snail's pace...but its there...if one might care to look into the littlest details...it might be too slow for some (maybe most) but hey that's how serial-ki-duniya works...😛

Jalal's sudden look of trepidation, as he looks back at Jodha after having gobbled up all the kheer, like a little boy caught in mischief, is delightful. It resembles nothing so much as Jodha's Kanha as a makhan chor. 😉

A perfect analogy...👏

One question here: Why does Jodha not eat the spoonful of kheer that she is still holding in her hand, and fulfill her dadisa's desire that they should eat it together?

Maybe the kheer slipped back into the bowl...especially seeing the fervour with which Jalal snatched it from her hand😆

Rajvanshiyon ka gungaan: Jalal is so taken up with what he calles the aankhon ki chamak aur painapan in Prithviraj's black and white profile, done in pencil, despite the fact that he can see only one eye and that too not full front, that one suspects part of his gushing is Rajat's own nostalgia for his spectacular debut as the young Prithviraj !

That...or blind love for his Begum...after all when he's able to overlook such glaring faults of her's this is small potatoes (as a wise friend of mine calls it😉)

One would have almost assumed, listening to such lavish praise from an emperor who must have been familiar with the best that the Persian miniature school of painting had to offer.

Knowing the production values of this show, the portrait is still praiseworthy! Especially when seeing the latest Rajputani guests who've paraded into the wedding...having said that - me thinks Jalal was more taken by the man's form and the fact that he was a warrior than the picture himself...

I suppose one should be grateful that Jodha did not provide that choice bit of information at this point!

Lol...thank God...how embarassing it'd be otherwise

His earlier reference to her triple bulleye in archery, which he cites as proof that she would never try to do him in by staging an accident, is plain ridiculous, but I suppose such folly is to be expected in one new to feelings that are alien to him, and which he does not as yet understand.

Yes I agree...I'd have thought he would have referenced the dagger she kept beside her when sleeping with him...😆

The apology of an apology: In that one sentence, she cuts off not just Jalal, but also Hamida and all the other Mughals who have been incredibly kind and accommodating and affectionate towards her, shuts them into a circle marked ghrina ke patra, and distances herself from them en bloc. That her comment is made after Jalal had been extra generous in his praise of the Rajvanshis makes it all the more ungracious.

I too felt that line was not necessary...many state she got carried away...if she did, I'd have wished at least that her apology was more profound as you have stated in your following paras...!

Among us, Jodha is generally indulged beyond all reason by the majority, rather like the way Hamida Banu treats her, and every small decrease in her rudeness to Jalal is treated as if a comet was blazing thru the skies heralding good fortune for all!😉 When this decrease is, soon enough, cancelled by her next bout of rudeness, that is sought to be slurred over. And so on and on.

😆

Jalal, however, is relentlessly pilloried, no matter what he does, and methinks he does far too much bending over for Jodha, which does her no good at all, in fact the reverse. Whence my pious but clearly fruitless hope that Jodha should have become better acquainted with the likes of the Raja of Bundi. It would have taught her to appreciate her current lot in life.

I am missing Jalal's temper...and when I say I'm missing it, I really mean it! Enough of this ever-cordial ever-smiling Shehenshah...I can understand if her words were not affecting him (i.e. he was totally apathetic) and that's why he was behaving so 'smiley' all the time...but, when they show that her words do seem to have an effect on him, then I wish we got to see both effects - the good and the bad! Its like she can say anything, do anything and he seems to only see the 'beauty' in it...

The Gifts: I loved Jodha's reminiscing, for once with a half smile when remembering Jalal, about the bedtime story and her looking pleased when Jalal's chotti fauj is visibly gaga over him and his gifts. In her rushing to publicise her Ammijaan's Rajvanshi connections, and by extension, Jalal's as well, one sees some slight sense of identification with her in laws. Maybe she feels a tad ashamed about what she had blurted out to Jalal a little earlier, and about the residual bitterness in his face even after her apology of an apology.

Also to note, she thankfully reminisced the bit about the tiger and how she burst out laughing instead of recalling his 'chudail' comment...that was the biggest difference I could gauge...even more than the sulky sorry she blurted in the earlier scene...the older Jo would have ONLY recollected the chudail bit and forgotten about everything else...

But what is it with all those long Ameri faces on sighting the green joda? Is a good wife not supposed to adjust to the tastes of her husband and her sasural? Moreover, I do not remember Jodha objecting to the rich green joda that Hamida had gifted her for the jashn after her marriage, which she then wore without any fuss. Bizarre.

But, this is the first time she's doing so at her Maika...reactions are bound to be different...I remember the upheaval raised in my house when I started eating a few dishes that I never had before wedding -dishes that were traditional to my sasural! 'Oh she's eating this now..she'd never eat it before when we used to ask her to...' All meant in good humour and light-hearted...I think that's what they're trying to show on screen...after all, HB, Sukanya and Mainoo are teasing her...

Mahaam's incendiary quid pro quo: Even before she gets to this, Mahaam, by ostentatiously stressing that two other gifts are from the Shahenshah's Begum-e-Khaas Ruqaiya Sultan, and his doosri Begum Salima Sultan, obviously wants to rub it in that Jodha in only No.3 among Jalal's begums.

That never struck me 🤔

I doubt, however, if she will learn anything from this lesson. If only she had said to Mahaam, with impeccable dignity: Mahaam Angaji, wo toh meri bhool thi. Par aap to mujhse badi hain, aayu mein , jeevan ke anubhav aur gyaan mein. Agar aap bhi meri us samay ki naasamajhi aur nirankush krodh ko dohrayengi, so apke aude ka maan karna nahin hua na?

👏👏👏

Pot pourri:

Let's see how the Ratnapur fiasco is sorted..I don't want Jalal doing this for the sake of Jodha though...I'd rather he thought of it all as a diplomat and solved the issue!

The chausar face off between Pratap and Jalal should end in a draw. I am sure there is this possibility in chausar, as in chess.

I don't know why others weren't very enthralled by the possibility..I for one, am waiting to see how this scene plays out...

I totally agree about your footnote on PRC...I had these very same thoughts when I was a big fan of the serial even then...😃

Lovely take aunty🤗

Amazing post as always..I try my best to be objective and not bash Jodha but its becoming increasingly difficult to be honest😆 I was glad she apologized though..Its huge for someone as egoistic as Jodha😆 I understand Jodha is feisty and Jalal loves this fiery trait in her but it wont kill her to be a lil more considerate to Jalal right? Jalal bends backwards and goes out of his way to please Jodha and his in laws..And all he needs in return is some Tender Loving Care😆 But he only gets piercing glares and taunts in return ..Does Jodha ever realize that Jalal doesn't really need to do all that he is doing right now? The extent to which Jalal goes to please her can never be justified as some well thought out political strategy which Jalal wants MA to believe 😆 Is Jodha that dense?😕 Well, i guess i'l just keep gushing about the awesomeness of Jalal like those little kids till Jodha learns to reciprocate😆 On that note, why do i feel there might be some misunderstanding in the future where Jalal ends up thinking Jodha is still in love with Suryaban and thats one primary reason why she is unable to reciprocate his feelings?😕 Only for Jodha to eventually clear the MU by eloquently declaring her love for Jalal?😳 Well, i'l keep dreaming😆

Thanks shyamala for the beautiful post.
Since Jodha knew about the custom of tasting before serving the dish to the king, why on the earth she had to keep holding the spoonful of kheer and gaze a her husband (has she really considered him as that, I am not sure). Even after he complete, she mentions that he drank the whole kheer where as dadisa advised us to share. 😉 Was that a disapoint note that he didn't left some portion of teh kheer for her to drink like any good hubby or that he didn't allow her to follow her granny's advise? My crooked thought is that she was disapointed that he drank everything despite she mentione about sharing.😊😊 but the fact that is questionable is that would she have drank the leftover (joota) kheer, had she spared some portion for her? then she would have followed one patni dharma. I still hope Jalal woul have spared some quantity for her to drink. May be we will be lucky if dadisa gives one more chance to have prasad where Jalal can give some to Jodha but let that not be some fuit whic can be sliced and shared.
Ok, I seek an apology on behalf of Jodha for hurting Jalal during Prithiraj Chauhan's gunagan. The reason being that during then, she was not Jodha Begum but Princes Jodha's chudail had taken shelter in Jodha Begum's body. So it is not teh fault of Jodha begum who is Jalal's wife and DIL of HB. How do you expect Jodha begum to apologise and re apologise for the words not said by her. She might have thought serves you nice Shehaashh for branding me chudail😆😆😆
But the fact remains same that when she thinks of Rajvamshis, she firgets everything and everyone around her and their feelings. She was like a old time TV which used to telecast only doordarshan chaneel which didn't had remote control and to stop that, one had to reach out to the tv switch. So she is yet to evolve to the post of Mughal queen to undersand the hurt she her words brings to the listener. Poor Jalal, he thought he will make her pleased by praising PR and be on her good books but ended up like a punctured baloon with her non stop dialogue delivery.
About MA burnig the dress given by Dadisa was ill mannered but I will say it served a very good purpose though it was not her idea. Had she known that by doing that she will be responsible to open Jodha's eyes towards the value of gift, she would not have done that. Only after seeing the burning cloth, Jodha felt the pain and ralised how it hurts for the donor when teh receiver dishonour the given gift. This is the main reason (or 50%) for Jodha wearing the Jalal given or chosen green dress teh next day. The other 50% is that Jalal knew that Jodha will obey all his requests / orders while staying in Amer, so he has used that oportunity to mke her wear the green dress given by him (earlier it was given by HB and not Jalal). He knowsvery well taht Jodha wants to flaunt a healthy relationship with her husband till such time they are in Amer and that is the reason she is sharing his room here. And as far the amerians talking about Green olour not liked by Jodha was like puling her leg and not a complaint.
About the game, I think it will be disturbed while playing and they will not be able to complete the game.

As usual, superb writing! ⭐️
Nothing to add much! You have said everything.
I am just wondering if Ekta Maiya would be bringing Mahabharata track in Jodha Akbar 😆 Otherwise, what's the point in bringing dice game b/w Jalal and MP??!!😕
I hope she won't be showing MP betting Chittor or JAlal betting Agra in this dice game!!
Btw, did they ever meet aamne saamne, forget about playing dice game! Can you please throw some light on it.

Chandramukhi and Paro never met except in SLB's devdaas...yet it seemed to leave an impact on all those who hadn't read/followed Devdaas-the novel😆...me thinks this is being done by the creatives to create an impact...
