No instrument, object, piece or even a vegetable!! 😲 That resembled the male organ could ever enter the Mughal Haram. In such a state of loneliness &'desperation, a large no of Mughal women used to turn to each other or their eunuchs to find physical love & solace.

The Mughals were very advanced for the time they lived in. There were a no of methods known for various problems etc. for beauty enhancement, abortions, love making & God knows what all.

All women only wanted one thing-To somehow become dear to the Emperor for from whom him, and only him, stemmed All Power.

Beauty, was their currency to obtain it. 😊

And some women like Noor Jehan, had it all! 😳

Thanks for bringing to light some points that many fail to accept/know/admit because of how glorified we've always viewed historical stories as...I've always believed and still continue to do so that History was filled with ten times as much grief as it was love/romance...

And what you've stated above isn't restricted to Mughal women alone - this would have been the sad state of many-a-king's-household...actually, truth be told - the Guptans/Mauryans were a far more broad--minded lot (is that the right word?) than we are today...😊...if you read the Guptan and Mauryan stories, one'd be amazed! We lost a lot of it following invasions by more orthodox cultures...

In such an atmosphere, of extreme luxurious oppression, women turned to each other to help themselves šŸ˜‰
The Mughal haram frequently saw lesbian affairs/love stories taking place which if discovered, led to death or a little less worse! The rules of the haram were supreme which the Paadshah Begum exercised. She was all in all powerful &'second only to the Emperor in Power.

There was too much jealousy, savage competition & no peace.

Just the sheer numbers defeated you.

No wonder Jalal thinks that the sun shines out of him. šŸ˜†

No wonder Ruquiya is so proud of herself.

Hai na? Who wouldn't want to own all that ? Especially the perfume cabinets are stunning! They used to put so much art and craft into everything, Technology has made everything so flat, i tell you.

@Malika E Bhais, Yes, the feminist in us girls in this century will def kick in .You know when Fatima was pregnant with somebody else child in this show once. I felt sorry for her, and sided with her. It was wrong of her to claim the child as Akbar, but you can't imagine why she did it? The question arises why should she be loyal to man who only showed up to her chambers once in a while?šŸ¤”

@Bornthis way, yes for our generation this is unfathomable. Wonder what would happen if could go back in time, and one girl from this century lands up in Akbar's harem? Let's say a very feminist, bold, and a beautiful one. Maybe, we would have time travel love story.šŸ˜†Sorry am a sucker for impossible love stories.šŸ˜†How would she change some men thinking?šŸ˜†

@ Vicky, it's so hard to imagine that woman were nothing but object of carnal desire for these men.🤢How we were treated like garbage, and not respected. I despise how the men of century thought that we were subordinate in gender to them. How we were just their damn possessions. Even a lot of men in this century think like that.😔As much as I love U.S., I hope someday we can get the Equal Pay Act pay Act will be implemented soon . Because even a country advanced as U.S., women get paid less than men. It's sad.

@Lashy: Absolutely right, those dynasties were far more advanced than the Rajputs or Mughals. The Rajput kings & their harams being, in certain ways, a lot more oppressive!
Women were nothing more than chattel. Bad chattel. Or chattel to be owned. Even the noble women could be picked up whenever & made to be presented in front of the Emperor if he took a fancy to her. And which woman would be demented enough to *shudder* refuse?

Unless you know. You're the demented sort like our darling Jodha Bai šŸ˜†

Whatever articles i have read, it portrays Noor Jahan as a power hungry woman who used her beauty and sexuality to gain power. Is is the reality, or is there some other truth to this...
I am saying this becoz, jahangir was a material abuser, if it wasnt for Noor Jehan, the mughal empire would have been destroyed long ago... or may be Noor Jehan let Jahangir drown in his habits so that she could rule on his name...

Going slightly off-topic, but even today the most "liberal" & "educated " men talk in ways that render me speechless!!
A friend who has done 2 degrees was complaining to me the other day, another how bad the job market is & how he belongs to a "middle class family unlike you"

And then followed up by saying "oh but you're a GIRL, it doesn't matter if you get a job or not , your husband will take care of ."

I felt like puking INTO the phone!!! 😔

True - I'm so mesmerized by the art of the various items. The finishings were so fine & perfect. It's sad that such arts don't exist these days. People were so much expressive back then.

I'm a Tech savvy so won't argue that Technology has made everything flat - but yes to a certain extent I do agree with it.
