Kabhi toh nazar milaao
Kabhi toh kareeb aao
Jo nahiin kahaa hai , kabhi toh samajh bhi jaao,
Hum bhi toh hain tumhaare, deewaane ho deewane.

Today's episode is open to individual perception and interpretation. The theme of today's episode was Meena Bazaar and Colours.

Meena Bazaar:

Meena Bazaar reflected individual character of the Mughal women.

1. Jodha Beghum - Colours. To show that Jodha embodies all shades of humanity and womanhood. To say that this is what she is feeling right now - an amalgamation of sentiments that are driving her crazy. To tell Jalaal that this is what he needs in his life - all emotions and all sentiments.

2. Saleema Beghum. Ittar/ Scents. To show that she only intends to spread fragrance of her persona, piety and dignity. That she wants to spread peace and happiness all around. That she is like a garden who wants to stay where she is , yet fill the world with her scent, just like she does it with poetry.

3. Ruqqaiya Beghum - Drowned in the alcohol of feminine pride and power of money, she puts up super expensive dupattas and only talks about their cost. For her its all about " ye mehenge hain" and " beshkimati" hai. Not once does she sell them as the shawl of woman's honour. While Jodha goes into depth of colours and Saleema thinks about Jalaal's taste, Ruqqaiya is little less than a beaming saleswoman.

4. Jaaveda. It may seem comical on the surface but Jaaveda's stall reflected her immense love and respect for MaahamAnga. Yes, she is stupid and dumb ... lekin usska dil bilkul paak-saaf hai. Ittna ki Maaham bhi usspe theek se gussa nahiin kar paati.

Colours :

Hmmm...Jodha put up the stall of Colours , not to participate in the Meena Bazaar to attract Jalaal, but to tell Jalaal what she feels and what she thinks he LACKS in feeling. All that lecture on Colours was just to say that if you had any sentiments , you would understand the value of this marriage and never send me back to Amer... there was hurt pride in her eyes and determination to hurt Jalaal so that he feels the same heat as her.

As for Jalaal, he was not angry at Jodha for anything - he bore her condescending attitude with patience , smiles and told her three things that silenced her :

1. Hum mein Jazbaat na sahee... lekin hum jazbaat samajhte zaroor hain.
2. Hum ye dupatta aapke liyye aman ka paigaam banaakar laaye the lekin aapne rang daal kar isska matlab hi badal diyaa.
3. Hum aapko Holi khelne ki ijaazat dette hain, jaane waale ki aakhri khwaaish toh poori ki hi jaa sakti hai.

Jalaal understood that Jodha has not forgiven him for anything and he said all this so that he can convince Jodha that just because he is unemotional, does not mean he is an ice slab, that he wants to make peace with her , maybe even make this marriage work by giving her a white dupatta , opens his doors again by giving her the permission to play Holi... In short, by doing ever singe thing that could make Jodha happy and undo the damage he has done till date.

But Jodha cannot see all these underlying yet obvious gestures because she is so traumatized and stoned by Jalaal's thought to send her back to Amer... that this poor girl has forgotten that Jalaal never made a decision to send her back... he gave her a choice...and yet she only remembers Jalaal ki Jurrat ki woh use door bhejne ki soche bhi...

Anyway, two labyrinth puzzles today.
1. Jalaal adorned Ruqqu with pink and a few minutes later, Jodha adorned Jalaal's gift with pink. It means , in the story symbolism sense ( am not saying that writers are thinking that ) that all of Jalaal's attention and affection will go to Jodha because she will grab it everytime Jalaal turns towards her.

2. Jalaal gave Jodha a white dupatta that symbolzies widowhood in Hinduism. Jodha instantly coloured it... and in Jalaal's language changed the whole meaning. ... she made it a sign of happiness and a wedded woman. Promising that this marriage is for keeps and she will always be his shield even if she is maaroing a 1000 taanas to him.

I was so happy that Jallu gave her a befitting reply and a shut up call to the never ending rant session 😆

Thank you.😳...Jodha is blinded and devastated by her inner feelings that she cannot see that the man who respects her tradition, tries to make up for all his mistakes and puts up with all your naaz-nakhre is your ideal match.

Another very perceptive & articulate post, MKM!! 😃
Jodha was indeed silenced when he said the last line "jaane wale ki aakhri khwaish Hum zaroor poora karenge". And her face become stone again. The poor thing doesn't seem to understand because her pride kicks in full-force whenever even the J of Jalal stands in front of her 😆. And because she uses her Pride & Rajputani Ego as a Warrior's Shield to protect herself from that which her heart is clearly feeling.. Her sadness, anger & deep hurt at what she feels is Jalal's 'Emperor's Trick' to send her back to her Amer not wishing to see that, he truly gave her two choices. Yes, that by her culture there isn't a choice, is what she understands but doesn't see that she knows that too well but maybe Jalal doesn't?

But being the fierce, proud (slightly nutty 😛) Rajputani she just doesn't want to see.

Symbolism: Jalal gifting Ruqaiyya a pink dupatta to Ruqaiyya & draping her pretty head with it, and her grin seeing that to me meant that, she truly rides over his mind.

Gifting Jodha a white dupatta meant not only a peace token but also, a testing ground.. So isn't it interesting that she chose to colour that gift with pink? Which stands for blushes, embarrassment, softness, feminity & deep love? And isn't it, a lot of what applies to Jodha too? 😊
