adham khan was killed because he killed akbar's foster father atagah khan his prime minister

There are two versions why atagah khan was killed(original name shamshuddin khan)

1) As shown in JA film maham anga was angry that adham was not made prime minister insted atagah khan was made prime minister

2) Adham attacked jalal with sword in "hall of audience" and jalal was without sword so to save him atagah khan came in between and adham put sword into atagah's heart.

Hence akbar build atagah khan a mouseleum matching the design of humayun tomb although smaller one since for him atagah was his father who gave his life to save him. In akbarnama akbar says that he always addressed shamshuddin khan as atagah which means father in some language even in midst of all courtiers etc
