nice post as usual aunty. yes jalal should be told-off by jodha, but one thing which i am not liking at all, continuous crying about ratan singh's death. he isnt a right guy for sukanya & by killing him jalal didnt do anything wrong. i hope maan singh or bhagwan das should sumhow describe how ratan singh attacked from the back so tht she could realize tht ratan singh wasnt a gud choice. 2ndly, the scene with salima proved tht basically jalal is a gud-hearted person. yes he has many flaws but he is learning sumthing from his evry mistake. he is a man who has the guts to accept his mistakes. i want jodha to give him tough time so tht he can go to any extent to soften her. (in short rajat will get more scope to show his acting) more tough she gets more of his gud qualities will cum out. so i am ok with the precap. one thing this relationship never existed for jodha, but she was talking about pati-patni relationship. yes she should be furious about her insult, but she should accept anything from their relationship.

P.S.:- obviously, jalal should be completely positive one day, but i want him to be strong emperor always, not just a 'majnu'.

But Mansi my dear, why would his preoccupation be with anything other that to find the culprit? That is a given, and so naturally when he leaves Salima, he would still be preoccupied with that. It is perfectly natural. He is now at a dead end, with no idea of how to proceed.

He can hardly run thru the whole harem night by night and try the same test with all the other begums! It would be most strenuous for the poor chap, for all of them, including those he avoids like the plague, would latch on to him like limpets and he would never be able to get away from most of them. 😉

To revert, he was never interested in Salima at all, and he makes it clear to her that the whole exercise was aimed at seeing if she was in the clear or not, and now he is sure she has also been framed by the real culprit. She would be appalled at the very close shave she has had, and profoundly grateful to Jalal for taking all this trouble, even if only for the sake of his Khan Baba, to prove her innocence.

As for Mahaam, when she was dissolving in tears and being apparently appalled at the idea of Adham suspecting her of such base treachery towards Jalal and the Mughal sultanat, I got the queer feeling that all she said then was also genuine at one level.

The funny thing is that she did not look under those tablecloths and find Rahim! She must have got unsettled by Salima's unexpected appearance. Yes, another of her spectacular failures, the framing of Motibai. She was furious when Jodha got her off at the last moment.

Motibai is eminently sensible and practical too. It would be good if Jodha listened to her for a change instead of being a nosey parker, or a Pandora. Take your pick!

Thanks Shyamala for the pm, i was looking for this thread earlier couldn't find it!😊

It was very disappointing for me to know that the ultimate culprit was Maham. For many reason i wanted the CVs to take a different route.

1) Maham is a historic character and making her turn black was not right on the makers part.

2) Maham has made it clear she loves her good-for-nothing son a lot more than Jalal but deep down a part of her genuinely cares for Jalal. So, her conversation with Resham and her tears convinced me, she won't stoop so low!

3) Real mother or not she is still woman and I didn't wanted them to show her merciless enough to do this heinous act!

4) Jalal has given her utmost love, admiration and respect. It was shattering to see this woman play with his emotions over and over again.

However, after reading your analysis i am trying to make sense of all of this. Beautifully put. Ashwini was brilliant in the scenes!👏

The wailing, the fresh tears in her solitude after Adham has left, the breast-beating, none of it was necessary. These are not for show, for there is no one there who needs to be hoodwinked. This is all for herself, for what she has lost for the sake of Adham.

Like Oscar Wilde's Dorian Gray, who remains eternally pure and ageless and beautiful to behold, but whose portrait, kept hidden, shows every ugly wart and scar on his steadily rotting soul, Mahaam Anga sees her soul as black and ugly as that portrait, and she cannot stand it. That is her real punishment.

I completely agree on your take of Jodha, she is shown to be prejudiced when it comes to Jalal. Even i have felt Mothi has more maturity and understanding than Jodha on certain matters. She deserved the earful lecture she got from Ruqaiya, matters of courts are not be discussed openly. The rest of Ruqaiya's dressing down on her control over Jalal was not required. I am getting tired of Jodha's "ghrina" and Ruqaiya's i have control over Jalal's mind!🥱

Jalal - Salima scenes were aesthetically executed, Rajat did a brilliant job.

Hameeda keeps complaining that Jalal is close to Maham but i rarely see her shower any motherly affection and concern for Jalal. All she does is pray for him to change but making much effort from her end. As you rightly pointed out, why did Hameeda come to console her only son on the loss of his child! She seems to care a lot more about her new Bahu rani and both agree that Jalal needs to change!😆

Precap, again another lecturing session. I didn't approve of Jodha's earlier outburst and i still feel the same on this! It's a 16 century character, there is no way in the world this kind of attitude would be tolerated. I get it she is angry and rightfully so, but there is a subtle way in which she put forth her displeasure and disappointment.

coming to wild cat episode, i have reservation on the execution of the scene! When the Cvs can't handle war scenes with realism...this seems far fetched. But i would love to see Jodha being chased by the cheetah / tiger till Jalal makes an last minute entry to save her!😈

thank you so much for the amazing post!!

I do hope that Maham Anga's face gets revealed but I doubt it will happen this quickly. I wonder who will be the scapegoat. I am thinking Resham but then maybe MA would want to keep her bec of her loyalty and then use her when she does not find a way out to come out of a mess. I think she might make someone else a scapegoat. I always had a doubt on Maham Anga but then I convinced myself that she might not be culprit not because of her scene with resham but I just thought it would be too soon for her to get caught because she dies after Adham in history.

I had applauded Jodha when she had poured her heart out and told Jalal to leave after she was found innocent. But, I do agree with you that in the precap scene she should not throw glasspiece and scream at Jalal. I am not saying that Jodha should forgive Jalal quickly or easily. I mean It would be better if she gives silent treatment or acts indifferent or taunt him but in dignified manner. She needs to show Jalal that he needs to work extra hard to placate her.

When Jalal had gone to Salima's room and removed her dupatta, I was so uncomfortable watching that and I had decided that I would not continue watching the scene next day but then I wanted to see how far he goes. I was so glad that I watched the entire scene otherwise I would not been able to see Jalal's soft and understanding side. I loved it when he put dupatta on salima and said that you will always be khan baba's widow for me. I was going awww.

I was little disappointed because I wanted to see another JALAL-JODHA scene before Monday.

After reading one of the FB's updates it stuck me. Did Maham try to frame Jodha and her brothers for the murder. She mixed it with the food (gifts) so did she mix it only with the kesar or with other items.
Salima was an innocent suspect, i believe Rahim might have picked it up and later somehow gone into her medicinal cupboard!

Like others, i too feel Rahim will connect the dots and lead to the culprit. If anyone will know Maham was behind this... is still a mystery. It's unlikely that she will be caught, and this mystery has to end soon before they can head to a different track. Hence, some innocent person might be framed!

Thank you aunty for your lovely post and the effort you pursue to PM individual is really commendable.. MA loves jalal,no doubt but her love for adham is blind..she is very complicated.. she was afraid to loose her power but till then she might not plan the miscarriage, but Adham's complains made her to choose the extreme path that she could..
obviously adham didn't believe her as he is her blood, aur khoon apne khoon ko pahechnti hai..
Jalal-salima scene was very well directed, nothing didn't go overboard.. and when jalal drepped the chunari,it was very touchy scene,i hope jodha sometimes witnesses his this kind of tenderness,so that her ranting the 'ghrina' line be stopped..:-)

Oh, lovely post, Ma'am. I pretty much agree with all your points. And honestly, Ashwini as Maham owned the episode last night. She actually terrified me. And I was not even terrified while watching I spit on your grave. That is one movie you do not want to watch by the by. I liked how she could not accept herself what she had done. It is her desperate need to prove her love for her worthless son that made her commit such a crime. Hence, the scene where Adham pushes her and shouts at her. Her insecurities about her son, and her loyalties for son is eating her soul. I still believe that she loves Jalal, but just not more than Adham. Never more than Adham. Her routine as a diabolical, psychotic woman reminded me of a Lady Macbeth summoning the Dark powers.. "Come, you spirits,
That tend on mortal thoughts! unsex me here,
And fill me from the crown to the toe, top-full
Of direst cruelty.." I have always, always loved Lady Macbeth. She was, unlike what the dominant patriarchal critical legacy, tends to believe, a truly complicated woman, and not the devil herself, as critics consider. It is her ambition and her extreme love for Macbeth that got the best of her. If you remember, she constantly, constantly says how she wants Macbeth to be the king. She never speaks of how she wants to be the queen. And it is actually Macbeth who plants the seeds od ambition in her head, because he knew how she is single-minded and determined in her pursuit and that she will be the one to remove his pathological guilt and enable him to reach his goal. In way, Macbeth uses her. Not the other way around. And this is why, she is the one who becomes insane. Not Macebth, because he always knew what he was doing.
Isn't it same with Maham? She wants her son to rule, her son to be acknowledged, her son to be happy. And she will do anything for him. Anything. Her revelation scene affected me a great deal. And get this, she will also be the one to disintegrate after her son's death.
Now, coming to the Jalal-Salima scene. Very well-executed. I was wincing through the scene, worrying that they will do something to mess it up. But when Jalal closes the scene with draping Salima's dupatta around her, I couldn't help but mentally applause the guy. Lovely scene.

Hi Shyamala,
I had given my post abt the thursday epi in topic "Jalal has Ears"...don't know whether u had alook there or not hence am giving the link here...

http://www.india-forums.com/forum_posts.asp?TID=3734814&PID=92034292&#p92034292

(Sorry abt the pre-cap thing as in the 11pm show it was not shown..so didnot know abt the vase case )

U R right, if she is trying to express anger with violent things(so similar to Jalal) like that , then indeed that belies the fact that she has more finesse than her Patidev. Her Silent & Detached treatment would have given much more effect than these.😕 Being loggerheads will only establish the fact that She too, for that matter, is equally pre-occupied with Jalal as he is with her.😆 And yes, she should be greatful that Jalal atleast has that much sense left in him so as to
bear thru ' her verbal bombardment without thrashing her up.😆 As u said about the Parent-Child simili " Like a parent apologising for having wrongly punished a child, he has to be able to climb down without crawling... forgiveness from a haughty wife. "- somehow from the day they showed Jodha being taken to Jalal for a rebuke for jumping to the pool...and Jalal reprimanding her for the same , I can't help but feel that Jalal, feels and behaves like a Guardian who can reprimand and scold Jodha , just like a kid who defies her guardian's orders and is self-willed.😛.This is further proved by his exasperated question to Jodha "Kya mere ya mere audhey ki koi ehmiyat nahi hai aap ke paas..." after the Sword-strike scene.😉

Coming back to Jodha's behavior,Actually, if we look back at the 1st episode with the Rooh talk, we can see the original plan laid out by the CVs...(I saw that On Youtube after I started watching JA in august)...Jalal's rooh asks Jodha's what she is doing and she answers that she is looking at him only...And Jalal points out with surprise that she is looking at the" Mirror" actually...
Here is the point, Jodha-Jalal and their emotions are Mirror -images of each other, all their actions and emotions are programmed in that way as to reflect what the other is feeling and is more of psychological thought -projection (to consider it is practical way)...

Hence , we can rest assured that one subtle change in one would reflect surely in the other sooner or later(if not simultaneously like mirrors) and would lead to the ultimate unison of the two soulmates to the point of being real mirror images in terms of heart-felt emotions towards each other.

Regards,
Kamal

Yes, my dear, she deliberately mixes it with all the four kesar containers, the 3 small ones and the one big one. That is because the Ameris would have a plausible motive. Any aira gaira's food gift would have provided no ready motive. What she would not have expected is that Jalal will get Ruqaiya to consume the kesar with milk that evening itself. That is really a bonus for Mahaam.

I liked your other response very much; thank you for that. Do take a look at the Lady Macbeth parallel in Stargirl's comments above; it is fascinating, her take.

Beautiful Analysis.
Jala-Salima What it brought out to me was the sensible and sensitive side of Jalal something we didn't get to see in the last week when he was so ridden with the grief of losing his child.
Jalal-Jodha Agreed. As much as Jodha's anger is justified, and her outpour in the previous episode, breaking the vase and anymore lectures and sermons doesn't do good on her. She can stay cross with him for however long but actions like this doesn't look good on a queen.
Jodha is impulsive too, she talks about trust, but was quick to judge Jalal when she thought he had arrested the parents of a child in the court in the episodes a couple of weeks back. She didn't bother to find what had happened after she left.
Any wife will have a certain expectations from her husband and will feel terribly let down when he fails. That's probably whats happened in her case too, as Jalal did carry it a bit too much but this is not the time, for her to act arrogant and childlike. And the fan of hers (Hamida) does no good to help her here.
