Akbar was neither an evil character nor a goody two-shoes like Hrithik Roshan's portrayal. Sorry for all the Jodha Akbar movie fans, but that movie painted Akbar like some God. 🥱 He was no Ram or Krishna, but at the same time, he was no Ravan or Kans either.
In fact, Akbar was a lot better than his descendants. Jahangir, Shah Jahan, and most of all Aurangzeb were known for incredible cruelty towards Hindus. As each generation passed, the cruelty got worse. Akbar was the best King of his dynasty, and after him Jahangir was ok but a little more crooked in mentality. Shah Jahan was worse than Jahangir despite people painting him as a great romantic because of the Taj Mahal, and Aurangzeb was one of the worst and cruelest Kings of India, not just of the Mughal dynasty.
Akbar was also known for some of his cruel methods, but he was also one of the fairest and best Kings of the Mughal dynasty. He did have a great tolerance for Hindus, and of course, everyone knows about the great respect he had for Birbal, his Hindu minister. He was nowhere near a perfect King, but he was no sadist either.

in history or in nature no human being can be completely evil, in fact akbar is known for being the most liberal and tolerant towards other religions, and its true that in olden times it was more of a dictatorship, therefore it wasn't allowed by anyone to write against them, no one can tell what exactly happened 400 years ago, only people who have experienced it themselves will be able to tell what exactly happened..this is a biased article! the rajputs and sikhs of that time went against them because they were outsiders who like britishers invaded india..but it does not mean that all the mughal leaders were butchers, there might have been some like akbar who not only wanted to conquer but also make it a better place to live..i like the way ekta is showing all shades of akbar good and bad...loving the show, therefore will stick to my views and not the views of the writer!

Well akbar had both gud nd bad qualities in him. It cant be denied the in the initial yrs he was too much under the influence of many people especially MM. Akbar was not the gr8 from the beginning itself. He went on to be gr8 later. He was not god, as the film shows but he wasn't devil either. The show is showing both the point of views. Nd as a rajat fan I am happy bcoz he is potraying both the shades very well.

I have not read the aricle but in his young age Akbar was no paragon of virtue...He was quite fanatic and a womaniser...
Again this serial is not too far from history...they might be changing something here and there but essence is same to an extent...

i agree, he is being shown like a young wild horse in the show who is after power and women, and that seems to be close to the history, maybe with age and experience and marrying hindu women he became more tolerant towards other religions and also was ambitious to expand his empire and took other rulers from different religion in confidence so that he can utilize them when needed, just like he did with raja bharmal..anyway still love the show!

There were 2 good kings --------Akbar and Aurangzeb...

Aurangzeb employed highest number of hindus and also Marathas...he also gave grants to hindu temples...but he wanted to spread Islam and that was his undoing...He was not necessarily cruel to hindus only but all nonmuslims in general and also to Shias...

Plz stop seeing these kings as Hindeu/Muslim...Most of the time decisions were political...

History has been very kind to Akbar and crking.uel to Aurangzeb...Its a matter of perception ...

But yes Akbar is way way behind Ashoka...The greatest of Indian

I agree about Akbar, but I have to disagree about Aurangzeb. The horrible tales told about him are not just made up...they're real historical accounts written by people who worked for Aurangzeb or knew him directly. He was very intolerant of Hindus and destroyed the laws that Akbar had instilled to allow Hindus to be treated the same as the Mughals. Aurangzeb gave extra taxes to Hindus and destroyed many Hindu temples. History is neither "kind" nor "cruel" to people. People who direct movies or serials can make up stuff, but most of the information we have are directly from biographies or autobiographies. Aurangzeb himself wrote an autobiography where he proudly described all his conquests and laws against non-Muslim people. No Mughal King was as cruel as Aurangzeb, and this is a fact. Forget the Hindus, many Mughals themselves were terrified under his rule, because he was so strict and severe in his laws. They did not enjoy the freedom they had under Akbar's rule and even Shah Jahan's.
It doesn't matter whether you ask a Hindu or Muslim today. Both groups would tell you that Aurangzeb was the worst King of the Mughal dynasty.

Yup, I don't have any respect for Jahangir either. He was the first one in his family to start the "tradition" of sons waging war against their own fathers. Although he was heir to Akbar, still he waged war against him because he wanted the kingdom sooner than later. 🤔 He should have known his karma would nip him on the butt sooner or later, because Shah Jahan did the exact same thing and forcefully took the kingdom from his father, and in turn he too was ousted by Aurangzeb.
Poor Akbar! After him, none of his descendants were very great rulers in terms of morality.
