This is not a WU...WUs are generally provided by our lovely coolbies..here, I only highlight the Jalal (esp Jalal-Jodha) scenes...translating the Urdu to English to the best of my knowledge...😳 I don't include all scenes..
Jalal's summon
One could see the hurt in his eyes as he made a quick survey of the Ameri group - and no his gaze does NOT linger around Jodha (like how it had in the darbar during the Utsav). They're like strangers now!
'According to my orders, all of you had been placed in isolation...under supervision...' Jalal starts speaking in a sardonic tone 'However, a situation has arisen that I have to inform you of...Raja Bharmal is arriving at Agra tomorrow with my permission..he wants to give all of us a good news...' he pauses 'So, should we let him give us the good news first or let him know of your conspiracy first..'
Jodha is positively taken aback. When no one answers, Jalal states that he'll make his own decision on the matter and then orders all of them to leave. Everyone eventually leaves the room - bar one!
He turns around, staring at her angrily 'I've ordered all of you to leave'
'What do you want?' she asks, immensely hurt
'That you leave!' he instructs his guards 'Please arrest Jodha Begum'
'I asked, what is it that you do want?'
Jalal gets angry 'You'll find that out in 10 days'
'You can't play games with my father' she retaliates
He grits his teeth 'Kings don't have to explain themselves to criminals!'
'If anything dire happens to my father...I'll not withstand this quietly' she says, her anger very evident
'So... now, do you realize how much it aches when you fear losing one's own' he changes his tone 'After being rejected by 17 prospective grooms, only now has your father found a match for your sister' he taunts her with a smile 'He must be very happy indeed...why don't we celebrate this good news?'
Jodha pleads with him not to do any such thing for the sake of her father and sister.
'I'll be at ease when you have to endure suffering' he concludes
Bharmal's unwelcoming welcome
Bharmal is no doubt surprised by the cold-welcome he was receiving at Agra. Unwittingly, the poor chap had brought some 'mitaai' to 'munh-meeta' his jamaaisa and invite them for the wedding. Lol! Little surprise he is left startled by their aloof reactions. The unfortunate king is even ordered by his son-in-law to taste the sweets first. However, the chef steps forth to do so.
'You might have felt bad' Jalal explains - the sarcasm in his tone evident 'These days poisoning has become a common crime in Agra'
While MA is shocked as to why Jalal was not divulging the entire truth, Bharmal speaks up 'Shehenshah, if I have your permission...'
'You have it' Jalal interrupts
'But I didn't even say what I had to'
'Obviously, you've come this far...you want to meet your daughter!' Jalal completes shrewdly
Once Bharmal leaves, MA's curiosity is quelled when Jalal explains that he wanted Bharmal (a father - point taken!) to SEE his children suffering with his own eyes. Apparently, it had greater impact that way. Back to cruel Jalal, are we then?
Why, he's even sorry that he couldn't watch the Bharmal-children tragic milaap with his own eyes!
Later on...
Later on, when Bharmal goes back to question Jalal on why he hadn't indicated anything earlier, Jalal replies vehemently 'Explaining the crime by myself would have actually tainted my own lips...anyway, now you've heard of their cruelty!'
'What happened was wrong, but how is it right to accuse my children without proper investigation?' the father pleads
Jalal alights from his throne and storms up to Bharmal 'You are the King of Amer, so I'm controlling myself...otherwise, I don't spare anyone who dares question my actions this way'
'I'm your father-in-law too!' Bharmal argues
'But now, you're nothing more than a father of criminals..those children whose hands are tainted with the blood of my own' he grits his teeth 'I'm awaiting evidence and that's why I haven't executed them yet...the day I get my hands on the proof, I'll finish this Ameri saga once and for all'
Jalal angrily instructs MA to have the cooks prepare something delicious for Bharmal (possibly knowing that the grief-stricken man wouldn't be able to eat anything anyway!)
At the end of it all, even MA is full of praise for Jalal's cruel and wry manner in dealing with Bharmal!
