Years past for the two without meeting each other.
Jalal grew more brutal, and shut out people from his life, even badi ammi. But on the inside he was a different person, a kinder and nicer person. He just didn't want to show it.
Jodha perfected her fake smile, her fake laugh. She became a new person, but somewhere on the inside the true Jodha was trying to break out. At nights she would cry herself to sleep remembering Jalal. No matter how much both of them tried to forget the other, they couldn't. They tried to accept that they'd never be together, but they couldn't.
Jala's Pov
"What's wrong?" Asked Ruqaiya as we walked down one of the many halls in the palace.
"Nothing" I said while keeping my focus on the ground.
"Your thinking about her, aren't you?" She said, making it sound like more of a statement.
I knew who she meant when she said her, Punandavati (Jodha). I hadn't seen her in years, but I could remember her stunning face and soothing voice perfectly. I could remember every pointless argument, every witty remark.
"Maybe your love was not meant to be, but that does not make it any less of a love"
"It was never a real love, a real love needs more than one person" I said, I knew the truth and I wasn't letting anyone bring my hopes up to crash them down again.
"Did you ever stop and think that she might have actually loved you back"
"That's impossible, that letter clearly showed that she only thought of me as a friend. "
"Have you ever thought that maybe that letter didn't end your love story, but changed it?"
"It did change it" I said before looking her in the eye "it killed it"
"My friend you need to be more trusting of fate, it will bring you to where you are meant to be"
"Fate can not do everything for me, if I simply relied on it we would all be dead"
She gave me a slight smile " but at least you'd be alive"
"Salam shahenshah" she said with a smile before walking away.
Jodha's Pov
"Your turn Jodha" said sukanya with a smile.
I tried to give her my best smile and played my turn.
"Jodha!" She exclaimed "you always make that move"
"It's the only one I know"
She looked me dead in the eye "What happened to you Jodha? Don't try to make up an excuse, you haven't been the same since that day. You may have fooled everyone and even yourself but not me."
"What are you talking about?" I said trying not to look at her, she had grow wiser with the years and as my mother said she is the reflection of who I use to be. Except she was blunt and spoke her mind, a trait that often had gotten her into trouble.
"Please Jodha, tell me"
I rose up to leave but she held my hand.
"I can't handle seeing you this broken," she started to tear up "I want my sister back"
I gave her a smile "she never left"
She stood up from the soft cushioned chair "your wrong, she died and left a corpse behind"
Her footsteps echoed in the halls as I looked at the spot she sat.
