Mughals as killers, Rajputs as victims?

The show is highly intriguing. Rajat's performance, in particular, is absolutely stunning and his chemistry with all the women in his character's life is simply awesome, including Jodha.

Though, I find it quite a bit ridiculous at times that the Mughals are portrayed as brutal, mindless killers, ruthlessly punishing/killing Hindus. Meanwhile the Rajputs are portrayed as either victims or heroes. If the truth was so black and white, then I wouldn't let it bother me, but the Rajputs weren't innocent either. They had their own code of "ethics" which also demanded punishment/killing, including the destruction of Muslim people.

Before the Muslims ever set foot in India, there was a caste system among the Hindus in contrast to the Muslim belief where all people were equal in the eyes of God -- something that clashes with the historical elements depicted on EK's show where the Muslims apparently consider the Hindus "lower" in status.

The research on Rajputs has proven that they supposedly battled the Huns for India centuries back -- so we're talking about history repeating itself with the Rajputs as the ones to lose out this time around.

Personally, I'm not a fan of Akbar. At all. Rajat is brilliant and he makes Akbar seem interesting as a character, thanks to his flawless performance.

All I'm saying is that EK should get her historical facts right. Unless, of course, she's only appealing to the Hindu masses, in which case the Muslim community in India is irrelevant.

Very intersting take,i must say.

Well, see, ofcourse none of it was black or white. But we are talking abou indian television(u can include films as well in that case) here, where the hero is glorified (and maryaada purushottam as u call it) and the villian is the human form of satan himself.

BUT!I would like to give ekta a pat on her back, because she has been daring enough and atleast tried to show grey shades!

Initially everybody was questioning what was being shown, with Jalal being all cruel n stuff, because all the stories we had heard of akbar where all goody good. But slowly, everyobdy realised, that no,akbar..eh no,Jalal was not all that great afterall.

So,soon enough the audiences accepted it.Along with that, slowly but steadily,we even got to see more layers to him.We got to see that Jalal too has a heart afterall(abdul, zahir issues)

Moreover,we only know what we've read or heard, but none of us existed at those times. So we can never know for sure, you know.

And well,Rajat,he is iconic!A born superstar i call him! 😎

As far as the hindu muslim issue goes,I'd rather not talk about it.This issue is anyway very uncomfortable in our country.

p.s : i think i had seen u in the dsddsb forum :)

See. I have a feeling Ekta is trying to portray the Rajputs as innocent victims only to highlight the supposed contrast between the mindsets of Jalal and Jodha. The same old story about the angelic girl and the ruthless warrior-sorta thing. And the Rajput section of the show will not last for long, so, they are introduced only to focus on how Jodha comes from an entirely different world and all that. Anything for a dramatic romance, my friend. 😆

Thank you for your response 😳

I agree. EK deserves a pat on the back for showing shades. I actually don't have an issue with how Akbar/Jalal has been portrayed. I find it very intriguing that he's been shown with more villainous shades than heroic, because -- as a character -- it makes his journey that much more interesting.

Plus humans are complex creatures and it clearly shows with the way Jalal is in relation to his mothers, his uncle, etc. He's fairly twisted.

My issue is the exaggerated comparison of cruelty between Mughals and Rajputs. But like you pointed out, the show appeals to an Indian audience.

And yeah, I was a regular in the DSDDSB forum 😳

true that.

I always found the whole "either a man is complete white or complete black" ridiculous.Because its obviously not true.

But indian audience feeds on it.Well, its no one's fault really. We watch the shows so that can atleast imagine larger than life stories, which mostly,do not happen in our lives.

I find Jalal's character extremely intriguing! I like it when a character is given so many layers,it lets us wonder, what he woudl do next.Unpredictable you know! His mind seems like one big wonderland, filled with mystery! It makes me curious

As far as the mughals-rajpurts issues goes,i think annie(stargirl06) answered that for you 😆

the rajputs are only kuch din ke mehmaan on the show .So the cvs have taken the liberty to make up what they want.end result, utterly boring.I do not know what the rajputs are even doing and why.Yelling and declaring war.Thats it.Arre yaar, pull up your socks and go kill some enemies.Instead wasting time in blah blah-ing 😆

" kahan tak suno gae khan tak sunaon ----hazaron hi shikwae kia kia bataon" 😳

i posted earler tht they r taking very biased liberties... but on this forum people were startting to tell me even force me k they were invader bla bla aisae thae tau aisa tau dikhaengae... i thought sara begam bhag lo yha sae... 😆

Historical Fictional, liberties... argh... i must say all the liberties r taken to portary mughal jangli ... chalo yah bhi maaan lya ... k bhai jis ki lathi (stick😉) us ki bhaense (buffalo😆) or aj kal lathi jangliyon k pass nhi hae... but what about Rajput aan baan aur shaan ... what about their pround pranparas... in order to show Rajput cheeko cheeko cutie pie in logo nae tau un ki aan baan aur shaan ki hi watt laga di... jo Rajput beti k ghar ka pani bhi nhi peete woh baichare acha bannae aur liberal k chakkar mae shadi sae phalae hi apni rajkumari behan ko khud susral ka visit karwa rahe hae... aur dhannae ho aisi rajputani saas sahiba... aj kal ki soap saason ko (shukar hae woh M ya Mughal nhi hae) ko hamari modern jodha ki modern saasu sae hi kuch sabak seekhna chahiyae... akshara ki saaas aur bhabhi maa (YRKKH) ko tau sharam aani chahiyae. har waqy bahu k pluu k pheechae hi padi rahti thi.😉.. and hats off to ultra modern Rajput Rujkumar brothers... behan k susral ka pani tau peeena nhi is lye shayad saath wale dhabae sae bhojan karnae chalae gae... idhar unchae sanskaron walae jhodha aur suryabhaan on date... 👏

aur yah bhaghwan daas k kia hi kahnae...in k bhole pan par tau mere ankhon sae aansoo hi nikal aate hae... aur in k pita shri ki bachargi ... when ssuhumal was leaving amer yahi bharmal sahib tau "kanta apnea aap nilkal raha hae" and bhaghwan daas send sainik before sujamal ... I know pople try to say.. loo un ko bhi Mahan nhi dhikhya ... ji aap sahi kah rahae par lagtae tau who bohat Mahan hae... idhar sarae k sarae Mughal or agra wasi Taliban lagtae hae... marzi aap ki aap ka mulk hae bias liberties... showing a fictional character suryabhaan so pappu... dil karta hae pappu song gaanae ko par yaad ayya ... he is yodha after all sword fight nhi tau sword dance tau kar hi latae hongae,😆

Look at mughals and there makeup... mughal turkss were very good looking nations ...yahan all of them look like taliban instead of mughals... there is Turkish shoe "Mera Sulta" based on 1500 cent ...they showed harem and all palace politica,, bad and good zalim aur mazloom par they look like turk not taliban..oh yaad aaya again historical fition , liberty and yes also disclaimar bhai saab bhi apna kaam kar daite hae .👏

mughals ko maron goli par rajputon k saath tau insaaf karo in Rajputon ko cutie pie bhola bhala banae k chakkar mae na hi woh Rajput lag rahae na hi fierce warrior. itna pappu banne k baad aan baan aur shaan tau jaati hae tael lainae...
