believe me this story is total fiction. Jahangir was very Casanova type so some 1 made this story. in actual salim was in love with noor jahan daughter of 1 of Akbar's darbari. but Akbar wanted his son to marry princess of Jodhpur, she was the 1 called actuualy jodha bai. btw this was not her name either
there was a man eater tiger in Bngal. one fudal killed that tiger. Akbar gave him name Shar Afgan (tiger killer) and made governor of Bangal. and arranged his marriage to noor jahan. salim than got married to jodhpur rajkumari and shah jahan was the son of that jodha bai.
after death of Akbar and Jahangir coronation. he got rid of sher afgan and married with noor jahan.
the war which K Asif showed mughl e azam movie btw Akbar n salim was real but not because of some dasi.
Akbar made his son governor of a state. some maulanas (molvi) don't like Akbar's secularism so they misguided/manipulate prince that Akbar is an enemy of islam n bla bla bla... so under those circumstances Jahangir revolted against his father. but soon they unite and historian said that Ruqayya has a major roll in this patch-up btw father son

Well,it is also said that though in the eyes of world Akbar burried Anarkali but in reality he helped her to escape from the ditch with her mother with the promise that she'll never return to Salim and will leave the mughal empire and the same was shown in the movie Mughal -e-azam too.

The Great Mughal emperor Akbar and his wife, Mariam-uz-Zamani(Jodha Bai), had a son named Prince Saleem (later Emperor Jahangir). He was a spoiled and rude boy and because of this, Akbar the Great sent his son away to the army for fourteen years to learn the discipline required to rule the empire. Finally, Akbar allowed this son to return to the main palace in Lahore. Since this day was one of great celebration, the harem of Akbar decided to hold a great Mujra (dance performance) by a beautiful girl named Nadeera, daughter of Noor Khan Argun. Since she was an exceptional beauty, "like a blossoming flower", Akbar called her Anarkali (blossoming pomegranate).

During her first and famous Mujra in Lahore Prince Saleem fell in love with her and it later became apparent that she was also in love with him. Later, they both began to see each other although the matter was kept quiet. Later, however, Prince Saleem informed his father, Akbar, of his intention to marry Anarkali and make her the Empress. The problem was that Anarkali, despite her fame in Lahore, was a dancer and a maid and not of noble blood. So Akbar (who was sensitive about his own mother, Hamida Banu Begum, being a commoner) forbade Saleem from seeing Anarkali again. Prince Saleem and Akbar had an argument that later became very serious after Akbar ordered the arrest of Anarkali and placed her in one of the jail dungeons in Lahore.

After many attempts, Saleem and one of his friends helped Anarkali escape and hid her near the outskirts of Lahore. Then, a furious Prince Saleem organised an army (from those loyal to him during his fourteen years there) and began an attack on the city; Akbar, being the emperor, had a much larger army and quickly defeated Prince Saleem's force. Akbar gave his son two choices: either to surrender Anarkali to them or to face the death penalty. Prince Saleem, out of his true love for Anarkali, chose the death penalty. Anarkali, however, unable to allow Prince Saleem to die, came out of hiding and approached the Mughal emperor, Akbar. She asked him if she could be the one to give up her life in order to save Prince Saleem, and after Akbar agreed, she asked for just one wish, which was to spend just one pleasant night with Prince Saleem.

After her night with Saleem, Anarkali drugged Saleem with a pomegranate blossom. After a very tearful goodbye to the unconscious Saleem, she left the royal palace with guards. She was taken to the area near present-day Anarkali Bazaar in Lahore, where a large ditch was made for her. She was strapped to a board of wood and lowered in it by soldiers belonging to Akbar. They closed the top of the large ditch with a brick wall and buried her alive.

A second version of the story says that the Emperor Akbar helped Anarkali escape from the ditch through a series of underground tunnels with her mother only with the promise of Anarkali to leave the Mughal empire and never return. Thus it is not known whether Anarkali survived or not.

Another quite popular version states that she was immured alive in a wall.

hey janaki good to see u here 🤗 there are lots of myths about Anarkali...

the popular one is tht she was the courtsean at Akbar's Palace and salim and anarkali had a secret affair wen akbar didnt approve of this relation Salim revolted...its around the year 1601 wen salim revolted and assumed the royal title of allahabad...wen peace wasnt restorted akbar decided to take a stern measure then royal harem came into play raquia and salima begum played a vital role in reconciliation of Akbar and Salim...and then salim was allowed to keep anarkali as one of his wife/concubine...other folklore suggests tht Akbar buried her alive

according to one source Anarkali was the pet name of Mehr U Nissa who was married to Jehengir's minister and later on jehengir married her again after Akbar's deadth and she got the title Nur Jahan

one of the weirdiest and strangest folklore i have read is tht Anarkali was one of the concubine of Akbar's Harem and she was the mother of Akbar youngest son Prince Daniyal😲...Salim had a illicit relationship with his own step mother and wen Akbar came to know about it he buried anarkali alive..😕...strange isnt it

having said tht Jehengir who was the king in waiting with 20 legal wives and 7000 concubine in his huge harem... Anarkali theory cant be totally ruled out maybe she would be one of the courtesan of Akbar;s court 😳

Well, when I visited Fatehpur Sikri, the guide showed me an underground prison kinda thing where Anarkali was supposed to have been imprisoned. But that place was very dirty when I saw it, and people had actually put cold drink bottles and plastic waste in that 'prison' (it was disgusting😡), and this kinda made me think that the guides simply made that part up, just to catch attention of the visitors... cos if that 'prison' had such an important history associated with it, won't it be better looked after?😲Well, can't really say...
I am not saying that the Anarkali story is true or false... maybe some parts of it is true, but I believe the story as we hear it has been widely distorted by folklore over the years... We'll never know what the truth exactly was..

I have been there many times, I have relatives in Agra. That's what people say, its a surang to Lahore. Don't know how true it is.

wiki version:

After her night with Saleem, Anarkali drugged Saleem with a pomegranate blossom. After a very tearful goodbye to the unconscious Saleem, she left the royal palace with guards. She was taken to the area near present-day Anarkali Bazaar in Lahore, where a large ditch was made for her. She was strapped to a board of wood and lowered in it by soldiers belonging to Akbar.
