Akbar se related bahut saare perspectives hain...this is one of them...after all he is a Mughal...and he is a human being...he cannot be perfect...he also might have had his set of flaws...but accepted view is that he was a better emperor in comparison to any other Mughal.Period.

well akbar was a greatest king... the first person who politically united India else india was divided into pricely state and being a king bloodshed are unevitable...no offence but ppl were killed in ramayana and mahabharata too...he strive for political unity and extension of his territory which was the prime responsibility of the king in his own words "EACH MAN HAS A MISSION TO PERFORM MINE IS TO UNITE THIS GREAT LAND"

he maybe ruthless to achieve his aim but other kings were brutual too in a battle one win other looses it is simple rule of nature or survival of the fittest every great emperor has a history of brutual massacre but the greatness of Akbar is not his reign on half of the subcontinent but the revolution he brought in India

his first and foremost contribution was to merge the different boundaries of indian princely state into one...his secular and sovereign thoughts led to Jawaharlal Nehru calling him "Father of Indian Nationalism"

enough said about his brutality lets review his contributions

1. he stopped the practice of enslaving prisoners and forcibly converting them to Islam, and, within a couple of years, abolished all taxes levied only on non-Muslims. (period 1563-1577)

2.He abolished the pilgrim tax against Hindus even though it brought millions of rupees every year into the treasury

3.he banned child marriage and passed a law tht no woman would be burned (sati without her will)

4. he lifted ban on building the temples stop the invasion of temples and other religious sites...

5. he en devour for the secular and education upliftment of Indians... various religious texts like mahabharat ramayana etc were translated into various languages

6.. he fostered the growth of a new Indian style of art and architecture that combined the best of both Hindu and Islamic cultures. he encouraged and developed new forms of paintings artitecture textile industries

7. the bhakti and sufi movement begin to rise in his period and he encouraged them

8. he put the ban on flaying ppl alive and the deadth sentence could only be given wen the court approved it thrice tht means the deadth sentence order were almost neglieble in his times

9. he introduced the secularism in India and started Din E Aliahi

9. his administrative policy was brilliant more and more non muslims were appointed in higher position infact he was the first to introduce pattern of civil services which later on was adopted by east india company in India

10 he reformed the tax system on peasants and farmers under this system the farmers were taxed on the amount of yield produced not as contrary to where farmer had to give a fix amount of tax...thus he owned the title of Akbar by his subjects

11. he encouraged various art forms in india

having said tht i disagree tht a devil is always a devil...Valmikiji was a dacoit before he became saint and wrote ramayana Asoka was a burtual king but later on he transformed and work for his subject hence his wheel of law asoka chakra is embeded in Indian Flag

Thanks Arti07 for this post...it shows how Akbar deserved the title 'Akbar'...Its quite difficult to be this liberal...that too in the 16th century...but he made sure in every possible way...that he is just and honorable...I have always had immense amount of respect for Akbar...and i know that i am not wrong in respecting the man for his courage and toleration as a king...

yes he was liberal person he was a monarch his dream was to unite india.but he cared for his subject..he was not only a religious man but a man of sound wisdom ppl sweat by his judgement Akbar and Birbal story are still popular naa and then he had a habit of visiting the people and places imself, to understand the real situations and problem the common man faced. Akbar and birbal disguised themselves as commoner every night and wander in their own city to understand the real problem of his subjects

apart from it he abolished Prostitution He permitted the use of wine; he punished intoxication. He
prohibited the slaughter of cows. He forbade the marriage of boys before they
were sixteen, and of girls before they were fourteen. He permitted the
marriage of Hindu widows.
but he had his shortcomings too he was known for his bad temper 😳 and thts y knowing his temper he had made a rule to check the deadth sentence thrice😆 ppl feared arrogance of this otherwise gentle kindhearted king...😉

i need to stop now else will spoil all the fun 😆
