During Akbar's time, he banned sati practice which was one of the worse practice created by Hindus at that time. He also banned tax on Hindu pilgrims. And who knows what other betterment he has done on that time which are not even mention in the history. Beside you can't just simply judge a person by reading some bias articles online.

But Sati practice was not exactly abolished by Akbar. In 1829, an act was passed by the British government to abolish this practice. And the process was aided by Rammohan Roy. Yes, Akbar indeed attempted to ban the practice, but the steps he undertook was more to ensure the hindu subordination to him, than a true desire to ban the practice. Actually, it was the much hated emperor Aurengzeb who was a violent opponent of this practice among the Mughal kings. And every Mughal king opposed this practice, and took a lots of measures to prevent them. So, Akbar was not the only one. And again, what they wanted to achieve was more of a desire of power of Hindu community, than a true desire of getting rid of the horrible practice.

And yes, Akbar had some bad and good points. History did glorify him a bit, but that does not mean he was not a comparatively better king than most. And this show focuses on his journey from a rudderless boy-king to a mature and wise emperor. 😊
