Shyamala mam. Just love reading your posts. They are so informative. I for one found it hard to believe that within such a short span of time they decided to write that message in two languages.

Indeed Ma'am. It was hard to believe Jalal could find the time to kill all the soldiers, rescue Abdul and leave a message withing a span of ten to twenty minutes. But, as you wrote in somewhere else, the action, i.e leaving of the message, will be perfectly compatible with his intrinsic flamboyance and arrogance and dare I say, his showmanship. But the allotted time span was just not logical. And may I just say, I love reading your analysis. You are awesome. 👏

Not any of the soldiers, Riyya.

Firstly they would be most likely illiterate as well; it would have been very rare in the 16th century for a simple soldier to know how to write. And even if one of them did, a Rajput soldier would never have known Persian, either the language or the script.

Many Hindus learnt and excelled in Persian in later years, as they were given posts, often very important posts, in the Mughal administration, and others might have learnt it for convenience, just as people learnt English in India under the British Raj. But not at this early stage of the Mughal rule, and in any case not a soldier.

So it must have been the seriously battered Abdul. He must have done it, and it would have wasted a lot of very precious time which would have been better used in trying to get away safely, don't you think? It might in fact have made all the difference between life and death for both him and Jalal.

But the flamboyant gesture, the problems with the logistics notwithstanding, is exactly the kind of thing Jalal would do!

yes you got a point...😳 solder not possible...abdul is highly possible... yes they could have used the time to escape but no jalal & abdul wants to leave a note for Jodha 😆...

Thank you, my dear. My posts somehow always end up being very long, so I have perennial doubts about the attention span of my readers, but you set my mind at rest!

That is just the right word, showmanship.

Showing off to Jodha, in short, and the exponentially increased risk be damned! She is livid, and surely extremely angry with herself, so the effect he wanted has been duly achieved.

All in all, it was a very entertaining episode and our Jalal was tops. He was like a poker player aceing all the other hands. I am still in stitches laughing at the memory of his face as he says Umarkot!

Thank you Leelu. But I hope you watch the episode without fail. And you too, Riyya, and all the others who happen to read this post of mine,

It is one of those in which the facial expressions are all important, and no written account can fully convey the real flavour of what happens.

I am still laughing at the memory of Jalal's cheeky yet deadpan look as he says Umarkot!. and then goes on to complain about how deadly shanka can be! It was, to borrow one of the favourite expressions of your generation, mindblowing.

Rajat has really hit the jackpot with this role. It is not often that a TV actor gets such a hefty one, and he bids fair to chew it up.

My dear Disha,

I was in two minds, you know, when I sat down to decide whether to do it or not, for it was midnight already, and at my age, one does not have the stamina of yours! But then I felt that as it was such an exceptional episode - you are spot on , for it was clearly the best so far by lengths - it would be worth doing it for all of you kids. I finished editing it only by 2 am, for I am a slow typist, and editing takes more time than the draft. But I enjoyed doing it, and I am delighted that you and the others who were kind enough to write in and tell me so, liked it so much as well.

Jalal is clearly getting into his stride, and I think the episodes to come this week will be very interesting. First we will have an all out swordfight tonight, one against a dozen.

Then Jalal will find out that Zaheer has been blinded on the orders of Bairam Khan, and I am waiting to see how he will react. It might well be the first crack in Bairam Khan's control over him. The second will come when Jalal decides exactly how he is going to handle the campaign against Amer. Now that he wants Jodha at any cost, he will not want to attack and destroy the city, but to force the defenders to sue for peace and impose his terms. I wonder how he is going to ensure that they don't mount a suicidal defence and all the women do not end up committing jauhar.

Akbar was a great warrior and a very astute strategist on his own, and he needed no advisers after he turned 18, by which time he had dismissed Bairam Khan. In fact, according to the first episode, we are now in 1560, the year in which Bairam Khan was sent packing. But perhaps they will stretch it a bit here, covering themselves with the full page disclaimer that is read out solemnly before every telecast! Let us see.

Do take a look at some of the queries and my responses on this thread; they are quite interesting.

Shyamala aunty!what a beautiful post again! 👏 That summed up everything I wanted to say!

I would like to take the liberty to that yesterday's episode was definitely the best we've had so far!
It kept me on my toes throughout. The question of "will he/won't he"? Unpredictable you know!

Not just highly possible, Riyya, there is no other option, unless they decide to have Saraswati Devi suddenly decide to bless Jalal and make him proficient in writing! 😉 As Sherlock Holmes used to say When you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, is the truth.

Thank you so much, Shumna. I will try and write such analyses for all of you young people whenever there is a really good episode.

The message part was incredible, but the impossibilities aside, the spirit behind it was pure Jalal! The boy obviously had nine lives, like a cat.

Beautiful post👍🏼

Jalal, the arrogant emperor...who refuses to blink even when death is staring at him...his interaction with jodha...the manner in which he convinces her of being a sainik...it just blew my mind...the way he said umerkot cracked me up...the guy is one hell of a lier...he suppressed his natural instincts around jodha yet, he was oozing royalty, strength and power...he is sharp, witty, arrogant and a loner...these qualities make him intriguing...kudos to the actor as well...rajat is doing a fine job...

Bloopers- can't offer any explanation...😆

I really look forward to your posts...just love them...thank you...

I noticed that jodha wears minimal make up...it's great...they should keep it that way...😊

P.S.-my name is Suvi
