Thanks, dear, that is useful! Now, I think you had best drop the ma'am - I have been called that all my working life and I am tired of that by now!😉 . You might be uncomfortable using just my name, and you are very likely much, much younger than I am, so, like Disha, you too had best call me
Shyamala Aunty.

I agree, one has greater expectations from a historical, but I have very limited expectations from Balaji, and for the first 2 episodes, my worst fears seemed to have been fulfilled! The curious thing is when it comes to films, Ekta Kapoor seems to do much better (though I have avoided the ones like The Dirty Picture). Perhaps it is because she gets better directors and they would insist on doing it their way.

Here she has a very good lead pair, and I hope things will go well from now on.Have you seen the Parvati of DKD Mahadev.? I could not help thinking that she would have made a splendid Jodha, but of course she would not be available. Bar her, this one seems to be a good choice, she has a serene dignity and occasionally a lot of sweetness, and then her troubled look when Jalal's face haunts her was very well done.

I only hope Jodha Akbar will not aim at 1000 episodes!😉

As you say, one cannot ask for the moon! The only really top quality Indian TV shows I have seen in recent years were all by YashRaj's TV division: Their 26 parter Powder, about the global and Indian drug trade, was better than any comparable US production with 20 times the budget. Then there was an official adaptation of Kane and Abel as Kismat, again only for 6 months and 64 daily episodes. It was only a little below Powder in quality, A couple of other good but lighter shows, but none of them did well, and Yashraj cut their losses and closed down their TV division. So you see, the Indian TV audience gets what it wants (or deserves) !

LOL aiming at 1000 epis is always a sureshot recipe for disaster on Indian TV...but yes there is plenty of drama in this story for Ekta to drag out for a bit...

The YRF shows were lovely...Powder and Kismat were great but I was a bigger fan of Rishta.com...yes, there isn't much hope for quality to be sustained on Indian TV since the audience prefers its daily dose of soapy drama.

I have seen the Parvati of DKDM but I feel the current casting of Paridhi as Jodha is quite apt...the way she spits fire with her eyes has really impressed me...she may not be a breathtaking beauty as Jodha was in the movie version but she definitely has an enchanting quality to her...she holds herself well as a princess although she could use some work on her dialogue delivery...but she's doing a fine job for now.

Today's epi was done quite well in my opinion and a lot of the complaints with regards to direction and editing were addressed I feel...the epi flowed much better than the previous ones where Jalal was shown too over the top.
