Noteworthy is a scene from last NIGHT'S EPISODE where Jalaal fights the Rajput Sainiks and simultaneously remembers Jodha's HARSH WORDS.
He even exclaims remembering how she called him Jallad - "Jallad ki Surat hi dekhi hai...Ab sirat bhi dekh lo..."
See this was what I was talking about .She was the MIRROR who made him rubaru with his UGLY Jallad Avatar...Hence his RETALIATION in the form of ANXIETY ,ANGST AND ANGER.
Its more like RECOGNIZING what a MONSTER he was but still trying to DENY and TRYING TO RE-ENFORCE HIS BELIEF of WINNING BY THE EDGE OF THE SWORD...To reaffirm his Belief of the STICK approach rather than the CARROT one...
At this point of time its more of HIS BRUISED EGO which Talks but DEEP INSIDE I guess something has SHATTERED which comes out as his STRONG DESIRE to POSSESS her to PROVE his point and live upto the TAG of Jallad.
Jalaal is indeed a bundle of complications .There can be so much more to his character. The interactions though for only a few moments with his Mother Hamida Banu Begum gave us such open ended QUESTIONS and also solved lot of issues ANSWERING lot many layers in his character. It RAISES QUESTIONS and gives ANSWERS at the same time.
What appears as a BRUTALITY of A CYNICAL EMPEROR has actually a FOUNDATION that runs much DEEPER that what APPEARS on the SURFACE. A SULKING HANKERING CHILD is HIDDEN inside him-The one who CRAVES for LOVE and NOT FEAR.Though his mentor taught him to RULE by the SWORD and FEAR ; it is clearly EVIDENT from this particular INTERACTION that how DEPRIVED he is ?He even actually HOLDS GRUDGES against how LOVE and LIFE has treated him.
LOL why call it BARGING, Piu ji? But if that's what you want to call it, barge in more often by all means😛
I love the points you've made in the underlined lines especially.
The Jallaad tag that Jodha gave him deffo STUNG...stung DEEP...and yes it wouldn't sting so much if he didn't carry some baggage regarding that inside himself...so you're right about Jodha having held up a mirror which he otherwise never bothers with since as you said, he cloaks all his insecurities, vulnerabilities, abandonment issues with the approach that Bairam Khan has taught him...to just conquer and RULE with FEAR...He's a scarred soul who feels let down by the ones he expected to love him...so he chooses to put aside all such "weak" emotions and let his sword do the talking.
But yes, EGO is MAJORLY at play here as well...Jodha's words bruised his ego as well so he exploded in that fury as well...She said a harsh truth pretty much to his face...now to what extent he accepts that truth or revels in it or acts up due to it remains to be seen.
That is why I'm saying he's such a paradox...he can be so cruel and barbaric one moment then surprisingly tender with people like Abdul and his sister the next...the man deffo has anger management issues too😆...Jodha will have a whole MINEFIELD of relationships to navigate post marriage...repairing his relationship with his mother, sister and getting him out of the clutches of Mahamanga😆
