It makes her sad because she cherishes those memories equally. She has let her guard down and shown her sadness to Ani. He caught that there is something off, "kuchh toh huya hai Jhanak , batao mujhe, agar nehi batayi toh mera umar kum ho jayega".

He knows J will not reveal why she is sad, so there goes the threat ! Ani babu toh waise hi supreme kurbaani dene taiyar baithe hai toh aise threats se unhe kya hi fikar! Unhe bbas J ki sadness ka wajhah janna hai ! By hook or by crook !

His methods are not always ideal as he is result-driven ! Ghee sidhi tarike se na nikle toh ungli tedi kardo!

Plus there is foreshadowing - when push comes to shove, J will fight for Ani to protect him, if she is convinced that some harm will befall him !

Yeah, part of my reasoning. for Ani.

As for people from our generation, most of them are very nihilistic and cynical about life. Some are abnormally detached; some show healthy acceptance of the natural course of life which means acceptance of death too. For them, it's a casual question. For me too at this point. We all inevitably die at one point in our lives. People fear death unnecessarily.
