Shaan IS the most popular contestant on this show. There is no two opinions on that. In fact, I always thought that he was too good to be on this show.

He has sung some legendary songs and he has a strong fan base as well.

His fan base is much larger than the "television" world.

Like the TM said, a singers reach is far more universal and dynamic than a television actor. Shaan is known all over the world. Drashti and Sid aren't. I am in Canada, and I have never heard of them in my life before this show.

Even people who live in other area's are familiar with him. He has strong Bengali following as well, and he has sung in other language. He is quite known "all over" India.

With that said, the worst case scenario for Shaan, is losing at the finals. I am 100% sure that he is reaching the finals.

me too! Why don't you watch Jhalak ? I have been waiting for it for months. Was going thru Sal withdrawal after ABCD 😆

Back to the topic - its unfortunate that a lot of singers aren't as recognized by face in India because so many of them are playback singers. Something I never knew about Shaan was that he has such a cute smile! Last episode was really a downer when he wasn't smiling like he normally does

He is a television face for much longer than Drashti. Well if you are watching anything other than serials...😆

perhaps. I actually don't watch that many indian soaps - and don't watch drashti's show at all! The only singing shows I've watched, Shaan wasn't in them. I really only knew him by name before jhalak because he of his songs. For instance, the guy who sings Tum hi ho (I'm totally in love with this song), I know his name is Arjit but I have no clue what he looks like or anything about his personality. You're more likely to see ppl lip syncing his song and dancing to it than see him invited to actually sing the song on TV...

😊 I like dance / singing shows with anonymous crowd like DID / Indian Idol as don't have much patience for OTT drama. Also, the level of dance is not at par with the dance shows like DID, IDS (India's Dancing Superstar). Moreover, the judging is weird. It has to be weird if judges have to judge Lauren and others against each other and consider them equal 😃 so I don't really blame them.

I do catch performances once in a while in between other shows - but skip the judging part.

About Salman, will wait for ABCD2 😃. Salman with an above average dance partner curbs him as well, right?

Shaan was the only celebrity I knew about and admired a lot - so constant talks about Drashti's and Sid's popularity surprised me.

Agree that Shaan definitely has more face value than most of the other singers. But longer doesn't mean anything on TV. If that was the case Shweta Tiwari would be the most popular TV star - her show ran for many many years, broke all TRP records and was a love story as well (not too sure). For TV, out of sight is out of mind. Also, I doubt being the host / winner of very popular singing talent show would give one a very passionate fan following - it would definitely give wide spread recognition but not the crazy worshipping kind of fan following.

Being popular does not mean he will get massive votes. Not everyone votes. But people surely know shaan more than any other contestant.

The number of people knowing and admiring Shaan is surely more than all the others put together but then admiring does not culminate to votes, worshipping does moreover people above 25 seldom votes but then even if 20% of Shaan's admirers vote for him, it would be a serious challenge for anyone out there.

He's definitely more famous in that he's recogonized by people who are not limited to watching TV soap opera's only. Perhaps his fanbase is not as dedicated to voting as Drashti's, but he's definitely more famous than her.
