It is not at all odd, it is a proper lift & they did very well with perfection & perfect professionalism.they are not indian dance forms, it's fusion bollywood dance masala theme ,so song was very much bollywood, drashti's look was indian but did salsa for that old number brilliantly choreographed. All latin american & cuban salsa have many such type of lifts done professionally. u say all who act on screen intimate enjoys huun🤢 ,that is their profession ,salman chose choreography as profession & drashti she is a contestant & she have to do what he says & technically perfect, only thing she has in mind that time will be balancing herself properly to endup the act.salman try to give perfection to the whole dance. feelings, sick thoughts kuchnai hota balance karn bahooth badi bath hoti hai atleast she will be 50kgs t feel bakwass sab sochte hai to haddiyan tut jayengi😆

Everything of the act has to taken care of like song ,costumes, everything.they r trying difficult lifts n concepts in tat they ve to be appreciated.but some lifts n acts of jdj whoever does it crossing the lines n in jdj it is more n looking vulgar n obscene.not only acts the overflirt dislogues of manish n kapil n their some acts r in poor taste.last time bharti always hitting on remo its not funny.this time it is manish n madhuri.does manish does d script r adds his as most of d times when ppl laughing for his flirty dislogues n acts he goes overboard.today madhuris pallu in manish mouth while she dancing with karan looks odd.concentration is more on lifts n stunts than dancing.its ok they mix but dancing show dance must be there more than other drama but its reverse in jdj. Jdj dancers adopting western dances n doing fusion ,4 eg desi contemporary to which no justice is done to any form just mixing it as some cinematic form.it is more like cinematic form than dance form.

Ahh okay, no the reason I made my post was, I have been seeing an influx of topics on jdj forum every weekend, which disses all the dances and the costumes, not just one celeb, but every celeb and call it vulgar. Never mind a salsa dance cannot be done wearing a kathak costume. I was trying to point that out. It seems we are criticizing all the contestants and their dances based on some flimsy issues without trying to understand the dance form or the emotions or the stories. Its like bringing a issue up and labelling it as vulgar just because it does not conform to some rigid rules. I was merely speaking out against it. It just reminds me of India where everything is bad and banned, and smallest things are forced upon and personal freedom is taken for a toss, to prove a point of "culture" which did not even exist in first place.

As for expressing opinion in this forum freely, 😆😆 . There are always some people in every forum who have issues with everything.😆

As much as I 'njoyed DD and Salman's performance today, I've to agree that I did find that lift to be extremely inappropriate & vulgar.

@Bold: Completely agree with you here. But then again, that is how our society is. One can challenge the thinking to bring about the change only when one understands why the society is the way it is. People nowadays very readily tag others of being narrow minded or old fashioned just cuz they object to certain aspect of things. And the most amusing thing I keep reading is how country of resident is being equated to being narrow vs open minded. I have lived abroad for many years and I still come across people that will make you go speechless with their thought process. Rather than debating the issue and introducing a different perception, people start commenting on the mentality which only makes the opposite party more adamant of their views. This is simple human psychology. If one gives the breathing space to others, people will react more subtly.

Anyways, again I agree, there will always be those who will have issues with people's views no matter how decently opinions are expressed. Agree to disagree concept doesn't exist anymore, personal remarks are the trend it seems
"Why don't you cover your eyes" "Why are you watching it" "Why don't you change the channel" "Why don't you cut the cable" "Why do you even breathe" 😆😆 Gosh, these statements make me laugh like people have some sorta power on what an individual should be doing with their time or space.

P.S: Debating with you is always fun. But you and I are debating on different things it seems 😆😆

Tanni and Chandu, saying exactly what I was thinking before I even said it! So yea, agree with what ya'll said (since I'm feeling lazy and don't want to type it all up again) 😆
Now that my squealing over these two's comments are done, I shall move on to my opinion on the lift! So, I did not think that the lift was a big deal or even vulgar.
What annoys me is that it's a bit overdone and added in every other performance :/ Like they could have totally done without it today, but nope, there it was and took up a few seconds too! It looked a bit out of place too with the song and the costumes. Actually, I thought the whole performance was a bit off, but that is a whole different story that I won't get into here because we're only discussing that one lift in this topic 😆

Arey we are talking about lifts, so all opinions about lifts are welcome.

I am not sure if I mentioned it here or elsewhere, but JDJ has too much emphasis on lifts more than dancing. And judges are encouraging it more and more. And adding unnecessary lifts to the dancing is one of the biggest weaknesses of Salman. He adds the lifts to cover up on his weakness on choreography. As a choreographer, after having watched him for two seasons, I have to say that he is quite mediocre. He is awesome with concepts and vision. If I were to combine his concepts and may be Tushar, Deepak or Shampa's choreography, that act would be mind blowing.

Overall, judges need to ask their choreographers to focus more on dancing than lifts. More than half the time spent on lifts than actual dancing is rather irritating.

^^^ I absolutely agree! The lifts are getting a bit much. It's a dancing show, not a weightlifting competition 😆
I think lifts are okay, if they are thoughtfully added throughout the act to break up the monotony. But if the dancing is breaking up the different lifts, then there is something wrong! Salman definitely has a penchant for doing one lift after the other. Even KVB's choreographer (who I think is the sweetest thing ever... like she's always smiling so sweetly!) does a lot of lifts! Their entire choreo for the faceoff yesterday seemed to be one continuous lift!
And I am definitely surprised that Remo isn't saying anything either. Heck, nowadays, K Jo seems to have more relevant comments than he does 🤔

I hate, hate, HATE the lift that salman did today, where the man puts his hand between the woman's legs and lifts her ... And bec we cannot stop every topic from becoming a war zone - this is NOT about dd, its about the lift which i hate irrespective of who does it ... tushar and sana did a milder version last time ... on star plus, india's dancing superstars, one couple did even a more vulgar version ... and the number of times i have seen this absolutely atrocious lift in DID, i cannot remember

Can someone with dance knowledge, pls tell me which dance form does this lift belong to - i have seen it in salsa/ contemporary/ any random routines ... or someone just invented this rubbish

I guess before entering showbiz the first thing you do is throwing all your shame and hesitations out of your system...If you can't do that, then showbiz isn't the place for you...😃

I have observed that Shaan and to some extent KVB, evade lifts involving a lot of touching specially the "sensitive" body parts, both being married men. And this to great extent is the reason behind them not getting 30...
