Why not dancing styles instead of themes?

Every week the judges give these themes to perform on, but it doesnt give a chance for us to see them perform a different style...giving a theme doesnt stop them from performing a contemporary, freestyle etc all the time. I like Tushar but in 4 weeks they have done 3 contemporary acts...i want judges to give actual styles like Indian classical, indian Folk, Foxtrot, Lindyhop, Jazz, cha cha, Waltz, Tango etc. it gives us a chance to see how good someone actually is overall, what do you guys think? 😊

I agree!! It would be more of a challenge for choreos/contestants and would be more entertaining!

True also gives an idea who is a good choreographer overall if they can pull off great performances in all styles

Agree.

With themes, there is a lot of acting and less dancing. But I am hoping with giving the contestants particular style of dancing, it shows the potential of the choreographer too...

I think the theme idea is good as it shows us how creative the dancer-choreo duo can get and makes for some really creative dances. I like to see the different concepts they come up with given a theme. I don't know next week's theme but so far the themes resulted in some really innovative dances.

I also don't know how much weight we should give to the choreographers and their dancing/concepts as only the contestants are voted for. To judge the choreographers seems a little misleading to me as the public doesn't vote for them

Agree but dont you think this usually leads to many opting for a style they are comfortable with? Wouldnt their creativity be really seen if they are given a dance style...something away from their comfort zone.

Ya - maybe they should do a combination..they could have one week that is theme oriented for them to show off their creativity and have dance styles in the others. Comparison of the contestants in same dance style would be a good comparison of their abilities.

On another thought, colors won't get their drama if there are no themes. Don't you think it might get too boring to the non-dancer audience? It might even seem as the same over and over on TV.

Good topic...

I think like u said a balance would be good one week a theme and another week give out a dance style or two.
