I agree with the TM and to a certain extent with some of the comments made.
At the end of the day it's a competition and one needs to play by his strengths and contemporary seems to be Salmans strength. Though the lifts look easy to the eye but they require a great deal of timing and precession. A small mistake or a miss and either one could get injured or the entire act look messy. As much as the male partner is important in making sure he lifts perfectly so is the timing of leaps and jumps important from the female partner. Besides one needs to have that faith in your partner to just jump without thinking much further, something called as the leap of faith. Given the fact that Drashti is not a trained dancer for such formats I guess they are doing pretty well so far. As for tonights performance, i loved what i saw And i found the judges comments fair. The dance on the floor was not as smooth and as clean but i'm sure going forward we will see them improve more.
It's just been week 3 and according to me Drashti and Salman have been pretty consistent. I really loved Drashti's postures in the tango. She is working on the technicalities and that could easily be seen in the tango.
Week 1: waltz
Week 2: contemporary
Week 3: fusion of Argentine tango and contemporary.
So the variety is there.
Regarding Drashti's individual dance I guess Jhalak is more about team work, concept and presentation, expressions, attitude and ofcourse the dance. And on that front as a team Drashti and Salman have been very good and consistent. As time progresses i know we are gonna see a lot more. So let's wait and watch.
Drashti is good with bollywood and precisely according to me bollywood is not a dance form its rather a style which is a fusion of a number of folk and western dance forms. It's not rigid in terms of the steps and the movements. Thus I'm glad she is learning new and different dance forms. But yes I would love them to challenge themselves and probably work on an Indian folk. It's would be amazing to watch. And one thing I know is that Drashti is one of the celebs who can carry the saree gracefully and dance pretty well with it.. So I would love to see her dancing once in a saree too.
