I saw the Sneek Peek of Saturday's episode and then only I am commenting.

I am nt a classical dancer but I have seen classical dances and I do have a little knowledge of it.

Except the mudras and poses they kept few times in the performances.

Nothing else seemed to be classical.

How can they even give it a tag of Semi Classical?😲

Or maybe I am wrong but I would like to hear GENUINE opinions on it.

I have learnt classical dance few years and even participated in semi classical dances ---- to answer straight to your question ...more than Indian this should not even be tagged as SEMI classical
OUT RIGHT WEIRD getting on the nerves of all classical dancers..

Its quite obvious tht they have taken the terms of Classical dance for a toss with this weeks episode
All 3 celebrities doing semi classical seem to hve all straight postures with loose hand weird expressions and which actually strikes me hard is the lifts which they have mixed along in the name of free style 😡

Only person who is going to do a little justice is Vaishnavi is what i feel 👏

JDJ7 is always known for ruining or calling out non-existing dance forms remember smething called DRUNKEN JAZZ 😃

The judges are calling it SEMI CLASSICAL😲

Shocked would be an understatement to describe what I felt.

Holy Mother.

This isn't anywhere near Semi Classical too.

The mudras and poses of Classical are so defined.

Those loose hands and loose dance makes me feel so bad.

I don't think anyone will be able to justify classical ...

I would have appreciated if they would have attempted pure classical and we know classical isn't something to learn in a week or so but atleast I would have applauded them for trying ...

But this fusion... I want the judges to be lil more strict and give proper reasoning and valuable comments..

I will add my comments after I see the performance.

I guess its semi-classical because an attempt has been made to copy Bharatanatyam hand and feet movements ?

That were postures which were kept in middle but the overall dance doesnt make it semi-classical.

So I have a question. What is semi classical ? What are the rules and definitions and what is the vocabulary ? Visually something can or cannot be appealing but when you copy something called classical which is changing based on viewers reactions since no one has patience for the pure traditional styles they call it semi classical. Living in the us i see a lot of that from college kids to bolly instructors to stay at home moms at every Desi event there's a semi classical so my question.
How does someone define if what Shampa did was semi classical or not. just curious.

BTW as an intro I am a purist dancer in multiple styles eastern and western so very curious.
