though i still continue to disagree, as sandhya's arrogance pisses me off when she tries to show each time that she is the undeclared winner and a better dancer than the rest (as i am not impressed with her constipated expressions during her performances)....i would like to thank u for responding with a post which doesnt redicule me for daring to express my dislike for sandhya / for not calling me a male chauvinist who cannot see a strong woman in the society / for not accusing me of being an ardent fan of some sobbing drama queen.
i really wish so many people would stand up to defend taslima nazrin (rather than some sandhya mridul).to me taslima is more of a daring, confident woman of today (even if she dsnt dress up in the most modern ways)who has spoken her mind out for the betterment of the society but is now running a life threat for the issues expressed in her book against her religion...whereas sandhya talks n talks for her own selfish reason and even said on the show if the public doesnt agree with the judges then she cares a damn (as pointed out already in the first post of the thread).all that she cares for is winning.she is putting in effort i agree, but so are the others (everybody except mika).the australian cricket team has gone arrogant and over-confident but they still practise hard, play hard and win...but i still believe they need to taste defeat to get their attitude right...that holds true for sandhya too in my view.
Sunny thanks for the good words. With regards to your mention of Taslima, well all I can say is that this is not the forum where we can show support for Taslima and if you are looking for people here to support her then its not gonna happen. Its a forum meant for different purpose, if you have to seek support for Taslima then there are other political forums too and some of us surely (me included) are a part of these forums and voice opinion.
As far as my opinion goes (only my POV) i have no comments to make on Taslima. She seems to be a confident women, but if she is genuine or just simply controversy creator, I dont know. Plus I am not a muslim and so I do not know if her novels as anti-Islam and would hurt muslim sentiments or not. All I can say is everyone has the right to express them selves but if you feel that it is hurting a majority of people and still you do it then its not advisable. Just like I being a Hindu was very disgusted at some of MF Hussain's paintings.
Anyways, I will not drift from the topic, sorry for just giving my 2 cents on the above.
With regards to Sandhya, I agree that her expressions are not always the best but I again say that it has nothing to do with confidence. What she lacks in expression, she makes up in body movement and I feel that she has the toughest dance steps. All others (baring Prachi to an extent) take a lot of easy steps and have their performance laced with other activities rather than pure dancing. Like Jay always has some Photo's to revel or some costume to take off which eats into time and takes away the focus from dance. While in Sandhya I never see any such 'Faltoogiri', if she has a 3 min no, she is bloody well dancing most of the times not wasting time in decorative stuff. I hope i made my point clear.
I am editing my post just to add that the australian team is not arrogant coz they feel they are the best (well 3 WC wins in a row, test champs for 5 years, even a kid would know they are currently the best). They are arrogant coz they sledge/abuse and use unfair means to show that they are the best and not only that, they do not restrict this attitude on the field but keep it off the field too. Thats what makes them the swines that they are ! (pardon my french). Thank god that they have Humble good guys like Adam Gilchrist & Brett Lee so there is some hope atleast !

Society is such that they can never accept a confident and defiant woman. A woman who defies the age old rules of the society and leads her life as per her wish. The worst part is that this is true world over where if a woman is confident she is termed arrogant and bitchy. It gets even worse in our country because more than the males it is the women who find other confidant women as over confident and label them arrogant/bitchy. As they say - Ek aurat hi aurat ki dushman hai. This is absolutely true.
When Ronit acts arrogant or when Jay acts oversmart and all buttery or when Mika acts the way Mika acts, not many say a word. But when Sandhya (who by the way dances much better than any of them) has something to say, she is termed arrogant.
Lets face it, people world over want women to be submissive, passive and regressive (as shown in the balaji soaps). In a banarasi sadi, laden with jwellery, big mangal sutra, lots of sindoor, all the traditions and always ready to shed tears by the buckets !
Thats the reason why a Mona always wins over Shweta (inspite dancing only 10% of what her opponent does) by playing a dumb wit submissive girl. And hence a Prachi will always win over Sandhya.
Although I must admit that I like Prachi as she is a sweet kid, but unfortunately its not what appeals to the audience. What appeals to them is not the innocent, bubbly young girl called prachi but the sari clad, traditional, submissive, teary eyed BANI from Kasam Se.

ReemAnshu, I loved ALL your posts here. You hit jackpot, awesome posts :) 👏 👏 👏
Thanks for the appreciation. But this topic of confidence of a women being questioned is very close to my heart and hence the passion. So the credit goes to the originator of the topic.
Okay, this should answer everyone's question! It's an excerpt from Sonali's interview:
"You were pitted against Sandhya. Was there a rivalry?
Not at all because Sandhya is everybody's friend and she cheers for all of us. She is a fantastic dancer, there is no doubt about it. So is everybody who is in the finals now. "

Sandhya might be way too outspoken but this just proves that she doesn't considers herself to be above the rest.
