While Chang is elated, Sushant Singh, who was adjudged "best performer of the week" 10 times and scored a perfect 30 out of 30 eight times doesn't know what more he could have done to win Jhalak Dikhla Jaa.

Three weeks before the finale, Sushant didn't perform because of a back injury. The following week, he was put in the danger zone and had a face-off with Yana Gupta. Instead of choosing one, the jury voted for both because they deserved to be in the finale.

In spite of all this, Sushant lost to a non-dancer. Does he think the channel favoured Chang over him and Yana? "I really don't know why I lost. But in the final week the buzz was that Chang was everyone's favourite," he reveals.

"Someone told me that the show was about a non-dancer making it to the victory post. If that was the case then what was I doing on the show?" he asks."

Jhalak was not an easy show for him to do. "I am a trained Jazz dancer but I decided to do the show because I wanted to try out other forms of dance and come out of my comfort zone," he adds.

Lack of time was a major issue with him. "I used to shoot for Pavitra Rishta for 12 hours and rehearse at night. Yet I scored a perfect score eight out of 12 times. Wasn't that good enough? It was my dream to win, but I lost and only ended up being a spotless performer," he says dejectedly.

The interview is so sad. Sushant must be really depressed.

The best part of the interview for me is that he DID NOT blame the channel or say that the show was fixed. He simply said that he doesn't know. He also said that in the last few weeks it was looking as if Chang was everyone's (audience/popular opinion) favourite as he was getting votes and support. I'm so proud that he did not emerge as a case of sour grapes.by saying that Chang's victory was rigged.

Also I read the TB article where he said that he is happy for Chang. Good boy!

No problem Sush! Knowledge gained NEVER goes down the drain. What you have learned on Jhalak, performed on Jhalak, shall not only stay in our hearts, but shall also help you later in life.

you know i loved their reactions (sushant and anki's ) after the winner was announced ,
both of them had a smile .. anki went and hugged chang and then sushant ,.. i feel though they were disappointed , they sorta "moved on" that day itself ..
And going by their recent sbb/sbs segment , they are back to their childish games ...
and going by the holi promo , they are back to dancing with each other , lost in their world , not caring a fig about what others might think about this "PDA"
I think Sushant knows how to be happy , and not let negative vibes affect him for too long..

And gosh , i just love this guy .. he has not made one negative jibe , sarcastic remark , or snide comment against anyone associated with the show - either directly or indirectly ..

Sometimes it requires more strength to remain silent than to speak .

And he has gained so much from this show .. and the jhalak stage is always going to be special to him .. be it for all the amazing performances with shampa , for all the praises he received from judges ( especially MD ..) and for the marriage proposal to ankita ..

And now that he has some free time with him , i wish he finishes his short films which has been stuck for quite some time , and pursues screenplays till PR gets over ... and then move towards his dream of film making ..

JDJ has been saying their motto over and over again ever since the first promos of the show. it's been saying about turning a non-dancer into a dancer for a while now. i wonder why he never brought it up then?😕 i agree with sushant though. he should've never been in the show. highly unfair for the contestants who worked their butts off to learn how to dance and compete with people who were already a step ahead. he should try shows where its ok to be trained. all the best sushant!👍🏼

so how does the show work? make a non-dancer a winner because he had improved immensely rather than a trained dancer who is better them him in all the ways. or pre-decide the winners? i highly doubt while signing a contract they lay down 'these' details and details of how it will create high points and low points in the show, and most importantly how they will create winners. format of the show is , dancing with the celebrities, irrespective of them being trained and untrained and thats what the contestants are informed about. well yep it even i agree sushant should not have been in the show, while all the ppl worked their butts out and utilizing the whole time given to them, obviously a certain person was not shuttling between a 12 hr shoot 😊 oh yah he should try shows where its is ok to be trained, atleast the winners are not decided in advance their! thanks for u wishes...for a change 😊!

So Sushant got an idea in the final week that being trained in Jazz has a declined his chances of winning the competition.

Its like someone dancing his heart and soul out on that stage, and after gaining so many accolades, is left puzzled....where did I go wrong.......

Glad that he is happy Chang won the competition.
We know that its not easy working for a soap for 12 to 14 hrs nonstop and preparing for acts in night shifts and even excelling in it each time!!!!
There are many failures lined up for us before we get the due success.
Just keep on working hard as you always do 😊

Completely disagree.

The show NEVER claimed ever since its first episode that its aim was to make a dancer out of a non-dancer- they always focus on the celeb part and never say 'these are all non-dancers'. Even Remo spoke about the show on JDJ blog when it was launched, he said--- SOME of them have never danced in their life. Means he knew about the others. Heck, he has even SEEN Sushant performing as a guest performer on DID with Shakti Mohan. Remember all the past debates on the forum that the show was 'dancing with the stars'??? If you look into the format, (the india-forums description for example) it always says, that JDJ brings people from all walks of life to compete. In the background, yes, the format may be to eventually make a dancer out of a non-dancer, but, JDJ has never properly CLAIMED it ANY SEASON. Proof??? ---- In the past too, JDJ has had some trained contestansts in ever season--- Sudha Chandran, Parul Chauhan, Sweta Salve.

If the format of the show was to make a dancer out of a non-dancer as everyone claims, then why was Sushant APPROACHED for the show in the first place--- the guy has always been clear since his very first interview that he is trained under Shiamak Daver and even talked about it on National TV once (Star Plus). Not only this, he spoke about his training in his very first AV on JDJ. Then why was he still in the show? The fault here is not his, but rather the channel's- who offered him the show and signed him inspite of knowing everything- he didn't go to them, they came to him to sign him. They gave him a good offer, offered him good money, and so he took it up like a normal person. The point that 'he should not have taken up the show' doesn't hold water here. When the show makers themselves considered him eligible and came to him, why would he refuse????

If you look at 'dancing with the stars' - the international version ALSO had a dancer--- a former member of 'Pussycats' who not only participated in the show, but also WON it--- so there, the show is exactly what it is--- dancing with the STARS.

The main reason why I feel JDJ takes some good dancers in the show is to have some 'guaranteed' good dancing in the initial few weeks, when the non-dancers are trying to find their feet in dancing, else no one will watch the show. These 'the show is for non-dancer' claims start in the end few weeks of the show. ALWAYS. This was most apparent in season 1 and now in season 4.

Aww.
I agree with NIkita...one thing really nice about this interview is that he doesn't sound bitter. He not shouting "rigged!" or creating a fuss. It's more disappointed and slightly baffled in some sense. I feel sad for both him as well as Shampa. And he has a point...if they wanted a non-dancer to win, why did they have him on the show at all? 😳
Don't be sad, Sushant. You and Shampa have rightfully earned a place for yourself in Jhalak history of a kind it's going to be very difficult for anyone to parallel in a long time to come. For real. And I know there are many, like me, who will no longer be able to think of Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa without thinking of you two.
All the best to you for everything, and God bless. 🤗

umm.. firstly, yana is a item number girl, ie dancer. next, JDJ is an international version of dancing with the STARs and Strictly come dancing. i am sure, it wasnt projected as a show for making non-dancers dance ONLY. if that was the case, then sushant's question is RIGHT.
it was about dancing with the STARS; and making those stars dance who havent done so before. like you say, sushant knew about it "before", then the same goes with Chang.
more importantly, i dont understand why is chang and others using the non-dancer card: chang is a singer, who has an ear for beat, sound, rhythm. and he has acted in a movie which THY DANCE. some experience is better than none.
someone who is TRULY a non-dancer is Akhil. he was in no way related to the field, devoting his time to boxing. Thus comparing, Chang on his first episode was BETTER than Akhil on his elimination.

as you say, JDJ has been saying the same motto"make non-dancer dance" from the begining, then WHY take sushant and yana for that matter? sushant has been VERY open about his jazz training.
then WHY take shevta salve; who is a trained dancer? why take sudha chandran who is classical dancer?

my take; JDJ is in noway a show for non-dancer stars. yana hasnt recieved so much flak for being an item girl, as sushant for being trained in jazz.. so unfair. chang and others should quit using the tag of non-dancer and celebrate his success. sushant knew it was a show for stars. he is a HUGE star in the TV world.
sushant (and yana)'s spot in the show NOT unfair. WHY? because the dude shoots for 12 hours a day for PR. then, he is contractually obligated to do appearances as Manav of PR everywhere at the cost of his rehearsing time. so, where chang and others have time advantage, sushant doesnt. and we all know, how important pratice is to achieve perfection. if you notice sometimes, in the shots of Hawa mahal, before/ after sushant's performance, he is not in the background. ie he is NOT THERE and is shooting for PR.
also, during the season of JDJ was awards season, ie sushant was everywhere performing.
i didnt see chang anywhere doing as many events as them.

so, every contestant had their advantages and disadvantages balanced out.

also, in the international versions, there have been MANY "dancers" or people who have trained in more than one from of dance. Nicole Sherzinger from Pussy cat Dolls won season 10 of dancing with the stars and she has one of the most flexible bodies in Hollywood.

Even though sushant was my favorite, on the whole, i dont mind chang winning. but i just wanted to present my POV.
