New Delhi, March 6 (IANS) Bollywood diva Madhuri Dixit will be the global brand ambassador of Bush Foods' basmati rice brand - Neesa, a company official has said.
'Madhuri Dixit will be the global face of our Neesa brand. We will soon launch a television and print campaign globally featuring her,' Virkaran Awasty, chairman and managing director of Bush Foods, told reporters here Saturday.
Confirming the deal, Madhuri Dixit said: 'I am delighted to be associated with Bush Foods as its global brand ambassador of Neesa classic basmati rice.'
However, neither the actress nor the company officials disclosed the endorsement fee and terms of contract.
'We have allocated a significant amount for marketing and promotion,' said Awasty, adding Madhuri Dixit's association with the company would boost its sales globally.
Bush Foods exports basmati rice to 28 countries globally, including the US, Australia,Singapore and New Zealand, as also Europe and the Middle East.
Awasty said the company targets a turnover of Rs.770 crore for the current fiscal.
In the name of the Neesa brand, the company sells 15 premium varieties of basmati rice in local as well as international markets.
'Pure basmati epitomises the true spirit of India and its authentic flavour. Through Neesa, we aim to offer the same authentic richness to food connoisseurs all over the world,' said Awasty.

I studied in the Divine Child High School, Mumbai. It was a girls' school and I enjoyed school very much. It really was the best period of my life. I started learning dance early in life, so that was one of my hobbies and I took part in all stage performances. But then I took part in practically everything, even sports, which I was not very good at. Our school encouraged extra-curricular activities, even allowing us to miss studies and practise our dancing or singing or whatever. I used to be very popular with my teachers — I remember, once a group of us girls got into a very giggly mood during our Hindi class and whatever the teacher said we'd giggle. She got furious and asked the whole group to stand up. I stood up too, very sheepishly, but she immediately said, ''Not you, you sit down.'' The other girls protested, saying, ''Miss, she was talking too.'' She shot back, ''Keep quiet. Don't tell me what she was doing!'' I was very pampered. Not spoilt but protected and looked after. I am the youngest and I'm used to being looked after and I love having my family near me. If they're not there I feel lost. I was a good student in school and good at dramatics, elocution and dancing. I remember my teachers: principal Sister Genevieve, Mrs Johnson who was very close to me, Sister Maisie, Sister Rose. We were very lucky to have teachers who took a personal interest in our progress — we were punished too, of course, if we were naughty. But I used to be my teacher's pet and mostly got away without punishment. |

When I told her that it was such an honour to speak to her, she just started laughing. And when Madhuri Dixit starts laughing, you can't talk anymore! I have made her seven or eight outfits for Jhalak Dikhla Ja. It's so funny but the few episodes she is not wearing me, she has managed to wear my copies |
