Judges do take into account the age and previous experience of the contestant. Sometimes they also get emotional. I remember in first Jhalak, Rati Agnihotri had the judges in tears. But she couldn't keep up and got eliminated second. Bhagyasree never got that kind of emotional welcome last year, I wonder why. This time too, Renuka got a huge emotional welcome, now its upto them to build on this. Jai is a very good choreo, but Renuka needs to do much better than she did yesterday to keep from elimination.

I thnk they did a pretty good job ystrday .. 😆 😆

I too think they were just encouraging them and I think all the contestants are also well aware of this...nobody seemed upset with judges's partiality. Moreover, marks do not really matter, eliminations are going to be decided by audience votes.

Wow, only one dancing episode down and already accusations of biased judges. Since when did "one" become enough evidence to establish a broad accusation.

Of course. I'm yet to see the episode. I cannot say yet if it was biased or not, even then I'd need to watch a few episodes at least to decide that.

However, judges are humans and they are not going to be perfect, nor will they always share same perception as others. Judges to tend to be lenient on non dancers and stricter on the more experienced ones. Judges too will have a preference for particular contestants, certain styles and may lean in one direction. Is that bias? Maybe, but its more being human.

There has to be a higher level of gross unfairness and obvious favoritism to call a judge biased. And yes sometimes reality shows do steep into patterns of such bias, but its too early to call.

Judges should not be biased nd should give marks on the dance only. Looking at their past experiences in dancing, relation and age would ultimately lead to a biased decision.

Hmm no its too early to say they are being biased ,

well youngies r expected to be best , but none of them have been really impressive, u have seen them do same thing in dance performances on other shows or in award functions ....
where as coming for shekar and renuka , the choero was good , simple, neat , clean ... no mistakes to be pointed out, their simple act was made to look good, like someone said , not easy for a 50yrs person to dance like that ,i see more of good stuff from shekar coming out , and with Jai as chero , u will see good stuff ........same goes for Vrushali

its not who u are paired with , or how old or young ur contestants r, its how best the choreographer brings out of them without showing their weakness .......

I am happy that Jai N Vrushali got elders, since they are smart and best at giving rocking choreo's without much of lifts and all ..............

I think its very common in dancing with the stars whether its India or America; that age, stage experience, prior dancing experience and later in the show improvement is taken into consideration before giving the score. And while it may not seem right all the time, I think its somewhat necessary. The reason being that this is not Dance India Dance or So You Think You Can Dance where the contestants are dancers and trying to prove themselves as dancers. This is a dance show about celebrities entertaining you while trying something new and its about improvement and of course how well they learn to DANCE. So of course by the end of the show they give scores foremost for the best dancer but considerations are taken quite a few weeks into the show ( usually more than halfway). And while this style of scoring is not always fair, but it makes sense to a certain degree and I would not call it Biased.
I think if anything the audience tends to be biased- they vote on looks, personality, because he/she is part of their favorite show, they think that their persona is s**tty or has attitude, etc etc. I am not saying everyone does that, but a lot of people do.
So all in all thats why I think Jhalak has such unexpected results they have the audience that as usual is unpredictable but it also has judges score thats factor in, who also don't always score just on dancing.
That said its a fun show to watch because it does have quirky celebrities, some really good dances, a way for some good choreographers/dancers to show their talent and it general entertaining. I really am looking forward to this season especially I like all the judges and a lot of the celebrities :)

I agree that they gave Sushant a low score, since they want to challenge, since he has been in dance shows before..however, what abt Anushka?? She is not a dancer, but still Akhill the boxer got a better score..totally unfair
