totally agree with topic starter..
i always found jhalak to be better than nach baliye for the simple reason that there was more dance and less drama.. but this time around, its completely different... its drama all the time..this keeping mike on all the time is soo stupid.. in fact, i think all the contestants should imitate ksg and throw the mike..
plus this KSG ram dostana is terribly silly.. it might've been funny once or twice but all the time is too silly.. and i get the feeling that gauhar has been spicifically asked to keep airing her opinion..😃its like all the contestants have been given specific roles to perform.
and the judging!!!!! God, better not go there... What's the matter with saroj khan.. earlier her whistle and that 101 ka gift used to be so special..u had to be brilliant to get it.. but in JDJ 3, frankly, its got no value. she's distributing it. vaibhavi is inconsistent. i think they're too soft with bhaichung and too harsh with parul. and juhi is just sitting there for glamor quotient..
i hope that atleast the dancing improves from next episode

One more thing which disturbed me was Saroj Khan telling ARA and the contestants - "You have to keep trying to think of new ways to get the whistle .. to get the money as a prize from me"

I was like WTH!

JDJ3 retarded version of dancing with stars? JDJ1 was begining, was ok, JDJ2 had some good starting points but JDJ3

I was giving the initial episodes of this JDJ3 a pass but it's a high time this show should step up as it is loosing its charm. Why?

  1. Judges lack consistency and no definite criteria or value to add to their judgment and / or marking. We have seen many dancing shows the base criteria is understand what new are these Judges adding? Their marking should factor at the most 2 points for Judges own personal take rest 8 marks should be based on defined categories like a)Dancing technicalities b) Choreography c)costumes d)theme e)x-factor f)living up to expectations g)chemistry h) potential i)overall appeal etc.
  2. Contestants lack sincerity ' Apart from few, no one is putting their 100%, some are just taking it for granted. Bad choice of picks to contest.
  3. Making more Drama ' Channel is focusing more on drama then dancing and looking or wasting air time in showing controversial stuff for the heck of trp. See the promos that should itself tell that show lacks substance and banking merely on nautankis.
  4. Format ' Dance themes are not consistent, everybody is doing there own thing, matching of choreographer and celebrity is unfair.
  5. Glamorous aspect of show is missing, amateur set, and no innovation from last time, nothing so special to look forward too. If viewers didn't had their fav's competing tell me who should be watching this show?
  6. What is up with ST in green room and guy upfront isn't it a gender bias, why can't a female host come upfront and male stays in green room? Green room concept is stale and makes no sense, everyone should be in open.

LOL can add tons and open atlease 56 different topics on various aspects of this post..but guess this is enuff for now' your take iswelcomed on any of the above points mentioned. My heartfull thanks and 😳 in advance for responding.

Well said.. hope JDJ judges too read it..👏

We can very well imagine the standards and marking criteria... can't be trusted.. and people in the west cannot vote too, at least that would have made them to realise what is what..

Mrs SIR well said. Even on the forum most don't know about dance forms. For instance people talked about Latin Dance forms. But yesterday was ruled by African dance form. Both Lindy Hop and Samba originated in Africa Jazz and Free form in UK, yet most think Latin dances. Keeping that in mind it's good there is masti which everyone knows is purely Indian and entertaining. At the end of the day isn't that what a TV show is supposed to do, entertain and JDJ does that really well.

Samba is a dance of Brazilian origin, and Samba music has its roots from Africa.. NOT DANCE.. so it is Latin, Not african..Lindy Hop is an African - American dance which was evolved in U.S. not in africa..so you cannot say it is purely African.. Jazz is purely and american musical art form..

due to this reason it is called as latin dances.. not african dances!!!

Yes a point here is neither the judges, nor the participants has proper knowledge either to give marks, nor to perform to the perfection.. as all those dances indian masala is been added and i don't understand on what basis they give marks..😭

Finally a topic which actually has nothing to do with any of the contestant's nautanki and the unnecessary drama. *Profusely thanks the lord*

So coming back to the topic; good topic dude, you have hit the nail right on the head, JDJ is meant to have been inspired from English celebrity show strictly come dancing, but JDJ is no way near it. First the judges are the most inconsistent bunch I have ever seen, none of them have any clue on what basis they should be giving marks to the contestants. They all have their own agenda, and their personal favourites who they will give extra points too. I agree completely with your point number 1, they should definitely have a set criterion.

SK seems to have no knowledge beyond the usual Bollywood latka jhatkas, VM is strictly ok, Juhi is all about adding the glamour quotient (I love her as an actress, but she cannot judge a dance show) I wish Shiamak was one of the judges, at least he talked about the technical aspects and he was aware of the different forms of dances.

Regarding the contestants, lets not even go there, a COUPLE of them seem to be floating on cloud nine. The honesty in most of the contestants dancing seems to be missing; it's all about showing off their personality and garnering votes from their fans rather than dancing. This is evident in the voting patterns too. I am not expecting the contestants to turn in to professional dancers such as DID contestants, but the least the choreographers of the contestants could do is show sincerity towards their dance and their technique. The promos are very disappointing, they seem to be focusing more on the dostana b/w contestants, and the rona dhona, and it's just cheap.

I am disappointed in this season; the judges seem to prefer watching any dance with bollywood tadka and they seem to think it's worth a 10 and Rs101. I haven't even bothered to watch this weekend's episode, and now reading most comments regarding this week's episode. I am not really sure I want to watch it, might catch HK's lindy hop.

Indian reality shows are no less dramatic than the Indian soaps, well let's wait and see if JDJ3 can improve. The first two seasons were way better than this one.

I haven't followed JDJ season 1 and 2 completely, just seen a few episodes here and there. So, out of curiousity, I was looking through the old posts for JDJ2 after reading this thread and surprisingly, I found the same comments. That the judges remarks and their marks do not match! There were unflattering comments on the judges and participants in Season 2 too.
And when I saw the entire scoreboard of Season 2, scores are lower in the beginning and got higher later. Now, in JDJ3 too, scores are more on the lower end right now, 20, 21, 22, 23 being given and only a few getting 25 and above.
Plus, last season too had quite a bit of drama, with the famous "wildcard" entry round, jealosy and anger between participants and other drama elements! I got this from going through the pages of JDJ2! (Ok, I must find something better to do! 😆)
I think that the producers are trying to bring some changes in the show, with the Big Boss type of concept. But this doesn't mean that last year's show concentrated only on dancing and did not have drama! Moreover, just because they show some comical situations or cribbing by the participants, it doesn't mean that the contensants are not practising hard. A few minutes of what they show on the AV does not mean that the contestants are slacking! I mean, they have signed contracts, there are rules to be followed! At the end of the day, all of them are trying to improve and at the same time the producers are also trying different ways to combat that monster called "TRPs"!
