Okay, so reality shows usually find a way to camouflage partiality, but hey this show has no qualms about being in-your-face! š² Isha-Salman, Punit-Shibani and Gurmeet-Shampa are being treated like VIP contestants, while others are being dished out regular
aam-aadmi treatment. I, for one, have not been enjoying either Salman-Isha or Punit-Shibani's work for the past two weeks. Both the
teen ka tadka with Karanveer and the so-called 'theatrical hip hop' acts were so weak that I almost gagged when they received 30's. The
teen ka tadka was as messy as my morning hair. All I could see was Isha going into a split, and again, and again, and
again. Coming to Punit-Shibani, I don't think Shibani is really cut out for hip hop. She was so
dheela and lifeless, there was absolutely no energy in her performance. I had one word for it:
boring!
This week's performances were no better. Isha-Salman really need to dump contemporary and do something different. There are so many styles that they could have explored till now but they keep improvising within the limits of modern/contemporary. I think that's probably because Isha is not capable of doing styles like hip hop, street/funk jazz, bollywood and latin styles, so they mutually decide to overkill the only style that can fetch them 30's over and over again. Trust me the day she does anything else, it's going to be epic fail, unless ofcourse our judges decide to take a power nap during their performance and wake up only to display the 10-score board š„±Infact I don't really think that she excels at contemporary either. She's simply very very flexible and light on her feet - Salman makes good use of these traits and incorporates them in, well, every freaking choreography. Contemporary is very different from performing a couple of stunts and tricks. I am an advanced contemporary student and have been training for over 3 years. Trust me we don't keep going into splits or back flips every week. There is something known as 'technique' which unfortunately flexibility can't buy. You have to learn and acquire it over time.
People like Darsheel and Gia deserve far more recognition and praise. Darsheel is such a dynamite, I am absolutely in love with this jodi and their performances. He is energy personified. Gia is not afraid to experiment. I like how she takes risks and steps out of her comfort zone every week. It is definitely not easy.
As much as I loathe the unwarranted support that Gurmeet enjoys, I have to admit that their semi-classical act was truly good. He didn't make a mockery out of the semi-classical form and maintained his posture. Plus the idea was pretty novel. But this applies only to this week's performance. I don't think he deserved the perfect 30's in the last 3 weeks.
I wonder what has got into Remo because I always thought him to be pretty impartial. He's probably promoting Salman and Punit because they've risen from DID. š³
