Armaan stares in disbelief at the officer. "Under arrest? Why?"
Inspector: Kidnapping ke charge pe…..inhe hospital se tum hi bhagaa kar laye the na?
Armaan: Haan toh….meri wife hai….apni wife ko apne saath laana koi gunaah hai?
Ashmit: Phir wahi baat? Inspector, iss aadmi se poochiye, kya saboot hi iske paas ki Jassi iski wife hai?
Inspector: (turning to Jassi) Aap bataiye na Ma'am….apne husband ko toh pehchaanti hogi?
Jassi is looking helplessly from one person to another. She fumbles, "Mujhe kuch yaad nahi hai….lekin please…inhone mujhe koi nuksaan nahin pahunchaaya…"
Ashmit: (cutting in) …kyunki hum yahaan time se pahunch gaye, warna ye aadmi pata nahin….. (putting his arm around her) Jassi, ab bilkul chinta mat karo….main hoon na!
Armaan: (furiously) Ashmit, Jassi ko haath mat lagaana!! (turning wildly to the officer) Inspector, aap samajh kyun nahin rahe hai…..mujhrim ye hai…issi ke kaaran meri Jassi k aye haal hai…..please understand…..
Insp. : Ab jo baatein hongi, wo police station mein hongi….chalo!
He leads Armaan away. He casts a last desperate glance at Jassi, who is rooted to the spot, gazing sympathetically after him, her eyes misty.
Just then Armaan overhears this conversation between the doctor and Ashmit.
Doc: Thank you, aapka shaq sahi nikla….Jassi ko inhi ne kidnap kiya tha.
Ashmit: (feigning anger) Lekin doctor, aapke hospital ki kaisi security hai? Ek patient iss tarah gayab kar diya jaata hai aur aapke staff ko pata bhi nahin chalta?
Doc: (apologetically) I'm really sorry…..kal raat jo attendant duty par tha, wo naya tha….aur kaafi inefficient bhi……hum uske khilaaf action zaroor lenge…..
Ashmit: But I'm still not convinced…..Jassi ko itne din hospital mein rakhne se waise bhi koi faayda nahin hoga…..i don't mean to question you, aakhir doctor aap hai…lekin aapko nahin lagta ko wo ghar par, familiar jagah par reh kar, apni yaadaasht jaldi waapis pa sakti hai?
Doc: (nodding) You are right. Inki monitoring toh as an outpatient bhi ho sakti hai, unki head injury toh heal ho hi rahi hai….lekin hum unhe discharge kar de, toh wo jayengi kahaan?
Ashmit: Kahaan matlab? Doctor, mera ghar uska ghar hai….wo meri kareebi dost hai, kya main uska khayaal nahin rakh sakta?
Armaan overhears this and screams, "Doctor, doctor……for heaven's sake…….iski baat mat suniye….aap Jassi ko discharge mat kijiye….iss aadmi ke saath jaane mein iske liye sabse bada khatra hai!"
The policemen pull him away roughly. But now the doctor seems thoughtful. Ashmit notices this and rushes to convince him.
"Aap kahin uski baaton ko seriously toh nahin le rahe hai? Doctor, aap mujhe toh trust karte hai na? Maine hi Jassi ko admit kiya tha, maine hi usse dhoondne mein aapki madad ki…"
The doc asks Jassi, "Aap kya inke saath jaana chahti hai?"
She seems resigned to whatever happens. "Aapki jaise maarzi doctor….mujhe mera ghar nahin pata….main hospital mein rahun ya inke ghar, dono jagah mere liye ajnabi hai."
Ashmit rushes to reassure her that she will never feel like a stranger in his home. The doc, after some thought, tells Ashmit that he will discharge Jassi, but only in the evening, after conducting a thorough check up.
Armaan is thrust into a dingy jail amidst his furious protests. No one is bothered to listen, however. Tired out, he leans against the bars and thinks despairingly, "Babaji, aap apni Jassi ko kyun nahin bachaa rahe? Please, usse uss aadmi ki saath mat jaane dijiye….please!"
