Harshit Mudgal, who is just nine years old, a resident of Saraswati Kunj in I.P. Extension and a student of Amity International School, Noida, recently performed in a video album with 'Jassi' or Mona Singh. He danced and acted with her. It was all made possible due to his love for cartoon films. No wonder, when this reporter reached his place, he was watching one. Earlier his mother used to scold him sometimes for spending several hours doing nothing but watching crazy cartoon films. But winning the Nick Fundoo Superstar contest has made things easier for him. It not only gave him an opportunity to perform with Mona but has also paved the way for indulging in his favourite pastime.
"Now," says Harshit smilingly, "I am not being scolded for watching cartoon films. In fact I am encouraged to do so. But his mother says in a defending tone, "As vacations are going on, so I do not stop him but once school opens, the time for watching TV has to be cut down."
But how did Harshit get selected and how was his experience with Mona didi, as he addresses her? "Nick TV ran a contest called 'The Nick Fundoo Superstar Contest'. In this contest a cartoon character was shown at the end of a programme, who had to be identified. I tried my luck and got selected." He is among four lucky winners. The others include Dhruvil Mandalia from Mumbai, Ishita Aggarwal from Lucknow and Manvi Rawat from Jabalpur.
The shoot for the album lasted six days. Three days were kept for rehearsals and the other three for shooting. Harshit says: "We had a great time. I never thought that I would be selected for the contest. In fact, none of my friends believed it at first when I told them. Most of them thought that I was telling a lie. But now they address me as 'Nick Fundoo Superstar," giggled Harshit.
The album is about Mona taking kids to the world of Nick. Harshit says: "We also danced to a song, 'Hum jaisa koi fundoo kahan, Nick jaisa koi fundoo kahan'. I played a lot with other children and the nephew of Mona didi. We used to tease the girls." Showing one of the lines written in a note book, given to them by the Nick channel, he says: "We read out the lines to the two girls and they felt offended." The lines says: "Women just love to fight. Trust me."
Harshit's favourite cartoon character is Spongebob Squarepants and here he also got an opportunity to meet him. He is also given a soft toy replica of this character. His other favourite cartoon films are Shaun the Sheep, Perman, Ninja Hataudi and Batfink.
He also loves to play videogames. And for now he is busy trying his luck in another contest called Nick lotpot.
With winning one contest, he is really hopeful about this one too.
