| Excerpts from an interview: Q After Jhalak Dikhla Jaa, which is the first show that will mark your return to television? It is Extreme Makeover which will go on air this April. Q Is your contract with Sony still on? Yes, for one more year I am an exclusive to the channel. They have made me the channel's brand ambassador and I cannot take up any other acting assignment on some other channel till the year 2008. I am very excited about Extreme Makeover as it is one of a kind. There hasn't been a show of this kind on Indian TV ever. Q What were you doing after Jhalak...? Busy doing stage shows all over the country and abroad. It's amazing to see the response I get from the public when I come on stage. I am leaving for France in a couple of days to cover a carnival happening there, for Star News. Next it's New York where I will be hosting a Bollywood awards Programme. After that there are a few more stage shows where I am going to perform. Q You have been doing more of dancing post Jhalak… But what about acting? I am yet to get the kind of offer I am looking for. Though I have read a few television scripts, they have hardly appealed to me. But there is this show which may be finalised soon. You will come to know about it when things materialise. Q What kind of roles would you like after Jassi? Anything which is of the unusual kind, but definitely not similar to Jassi again. I always wanted to do something different in my life. I am open to saas-bahu dramas as well if the role is challenging enough. However, I must admit, I don't like watching saas-bahu shows. Q Post Jassi, you were typecast into a particular image. Have you been able to shake it off after Jhalak... Why would I want to do something like that. After all it's the character of Jassi that made me what I am today. But yes, as I already said, I won't take up any role which is similar to Jassi again. I am here to make my mark as an actor and that is only possible by playing different characters. But I miss the Jassi... show and the team. Those were the best days of my life. Q You have been seen in lot of page 3 parties these days... (Laughs) I go only to those parties where I am invited. After they send the invitation they call me up personally to remind me about the time. Now you tell me, is it possible to avoid a party when people go out of their way to make sure I am present there? Otherwise, you will never see me in a pub or a disco. Q What about the rumours of your marriage? (Laughs again) Yesterday only I read in a newspaper about Karan (her boyfriend) and me secretly tying the knot. Frankly, such rumours are short-lived. So, they don't bother me much and nor do I react. (Sampurn) https://www.deccan.com/TV%20Guide/TV%20GuideDescription.asp#J assi%20kind%20of%20roles%20are%20a%20no |
