hey guys i saw ugly betty too here in US......but one thing is for sure that the actors playing armaan character and jassi's character are nothing compared to apurva and mona. I don't like the actress playing betty......she's not that good looking in real compare to mona.

I finally have the chance to come back and talk about my views on the show. So here they are, so Thursday was the very first episode of Ugly Betty (UB), an hour long episode for the big premiere. Well, in comparison to JJKN's first epsiode, there were many similarities. The beginning was almost the same, when Betty was in the big fashion magazine headquaters for her interview for the job for an assistant to the editor. Jassi was there for the assistant to the chairman, Armaan Suri. The first episode had incorporated many of the episodes of Jassi in the one hour all together. Instead of her best friend Nandu for Jassi, Betty has a nephew who acts like her best friend and talks to her and gives her advice like Nandu did. The Magazine that Betty eventually gets the job over the phone for just had a new editor-in-chief, the son, from his father. (Armaan was a newly appointed chairman passed down from his father Puru). Like Armaan, this son is also a womenizer, but the change is the fact that he is not engaged like Armaan was to Malika. The difference is the fact that where in Jassi, Aryan was the one jealous of Armaan's position, here it is an older rich woman who wanted the position and is going at any length to get it too buy screwing up the son. There is no Mallika in UB, and the character of Raj as Armaan's best friend is a mix of the editors best friend and his enemy in that he does sleep around with the woman who wants the editors position to get back at the editor.
Betty was hired because the father wanted her to work for his son, but unlike Puru who appriciated Jassi's talents, he hires her for the purpose because she's ugly and won't get his son turned on all the time and keep him focused on his work. Unlike Jassi, who never had a B/f, Betty did but he dumped her for her hot neighbour and she is heartbroken. Betty has a father, a sister, and a nephew that make up her whole family and that's it. In the office, where in Jassi the gang didn't accept her right away, the gang in UB accept Betty right away and become her best friends. Where in Jassi, Armaan had Jassi take care of his special diary, especially from Mallika, Betty's boss makes her keep a look out for all the girlfriends that come and go at his place or in the office so that they don't come across each other and makes her run arronds that have nothing to do with her job description all so that she will quit and leave. Betty almost did, as when Mallika fired Jassi, but like Armaan, her boss comes to her house and tries to convince her one he finds out that she has great talant and expertise for her job and she comes back.
I know I am missing sooo many comparisions and differences but this is all that will come to me right now, maybe as the show aires more, there will be a lot more comparisons to JJKN.
On the note of comparing characters to JJKN,
I don't like the new Armaan, he's way too ugly and isn't convincing like Apoorva, for Betty's role, again, not the same acting capabilities like Mona had for Jassi. Oh another character that is seen in UB from JJKN that we all loved, hated, and were annoyed buy was the character of Maddy. There is a Maddy in here, different name, but he's not a designer, rather a mouse that follows the woman who is after the Editor postion. He's jhatka's are like Maddy but nothing compared to our Maddy.
Overall, it is hard to say how the show is since only one episode has aired, but comparing to the 1st episode of JJKN, I think they could have done a better job. I can actually say that this one is still nothing like Jassi. So for now, according to me, Jassi jaisi abhi bhi koi nahin hai!!!!!!
For those who don't know when it airs, it comes on Thursday nights on ABC around 7pm est, in Canada, the show also comes on CityTV so lets keep on watching and see!!!!!

Yeah no problem, now a days I miss JJKN soo much, around this time last year I think it was the whole Neha Shastri thing going on with Raghav introduced to the show and those were also good times of the show!!!!! Hopefuklly, a character similar to Purab will also show up in UB as well!!!!!

Yeah I was crushed too to find that there is no Malika and no actual version of Nandu. Poor guy has been replaced by a little kid!!!! While it felt nice to see another version of the show, I just didn't feel the vibe of JJKN and near the end of UB I just lost interest. Hopefully it will get better and more interesting like JJKN.

Oh and another thing that I remebered in the comparison, where Jassi would ALWAYS call her boss Armaan SIR, Betty calls her boss by his name. I think if you're going to be an assistant, no matter if it is in North America or India, you should always adress your boss as Sir, especially if you're a newbie. Oh well, we'll see how this show goes!!!!!

Oh and a4j4ever, you can call me Jas, as the rest of the members!!!!

Now Hollywood is coming out with the english version of Jassi, Ugly Betty, and I wanted to know how many of you are willing to watch this version.

Hi, I'm new here, I'm Gina from Peru, and I've only seen a couple of episodes of JJKN, I've seen every version of Betty la Fea and I loved every one of them including Ugly Betty, and I think everyone should know that Ugly Betty is a remake of "Betty la Fea" from Colombia written by Fernando Gaitan, and JJKN is not an original idea from India.

You can find more information here --->>> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Betty_La_Fea

Saludos,

Gina
