Hi, I'm new here, I'm Gina from Peru, and I've only seen a couple of episodes of JJKN, I've seen every version of Betty la Fea and I loved every one of them including Ugly Betty, and I think everyone should know that Ugly Betty is a remake of "Betty la Fea" from Colombia written by Fernando Gaitan, and JJKN is not an original idea from India.

You can find more information here --->>> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Betty_La_Fea

Saludos,

Welcome to the Forum Gina. Yes we know Betty La Fea is the original serial and the story was bought /borrowed by so many producers/directors from different countries. JJKN story was also taken from same Spanish serial but changed a bit to put some Indian taste to it and we enjoyed every moment of it. It was still a big change from most of the Indian TV soaps.

Whether the English version of BETTY LA FEA : UGLY BETTY will adapt the same story till the end, we cannot tell right now. I think once anyone gets the rights, they can change the stoyline to some extent depending on the market or rating of the show. Lets wait and watch what Hollywood brings for us on the name of UGLY BETTY.😆

Hi sharmi,

Thanx for replying and I think you're right, he will be hated once he's caught cheating but the thing is that I don't think that there are many people who like him right now since he's a womenizer. He just jumps from one woman to another, litterally all in one bed. Our Armaan was never liked that, all he did was promise to many women while being engaged!!!! Hopefully this will turn for the better to more so like JJKN but I'm still sticking to my words that ab tak koi bhi Jassi aur Armaan jaise koi nahin!!!!!!!

Yeah, I was little disappointed with Ugly Betty...had high expectations...I didn't like Daniel (Armaan) at first, but I think I'll eventually warm up to him...of course Armaan is way better lookin that Daniel...I think the actress who plays betty actually does good acting...

I think an important reason why they don't have Daniel engaged is because there has been a lot of hype about women empowerment and the producers are trying to sketch out Betty's character as a very strong and today's woman that would not cheat with a man who is engaged...and I guess the whole "sir" thing may also be for that reason...I'm not expecting JJKN from this show...I think its all a version of Devil wears Prada...so far its okay...

Yeah I guess you are right that it would be wrong to expect JJKN from UB, but that's not really what this topic is meant for. I only started it so that it would make a nice dissusion avenue for all to remember what they loved and hated about JJKN and how familiar it is to the new version of the show in UB.

As far as the women empowerment idea goes, again I agree that this maybe the case, but how was Armando refered to by Betty from Betty La Fai(BLF)? I don't know too much about that show just that that was the rubric that was followed by all the producers who made their version of the show.

I guess what I'm trying to get at is the fact that JJKN was unique in its own way since the original name Betty was dropped and the name Jassi was given to her and the unique Indian culture was the back drop of the story, right from her dress to her family and her never ending belief in Babaji!!

UB is most likely just a remake of BLF since the cultures, names, and living styles are very similar than if it were in India. The whole comparision is only for the nature of the story, not the culture or other forms, it's just merely having fun and seeing how betty lives up to the success of Jassi!!!!

I hope that I havn't offended anyone and that I hope to hear more from you all after watching todays new episode of Ugly Betty and comparing that to our JJKN!!!!

There definitely were differences. JJKN was adapted to the Indian culture so to an Indian heart it will be much more appealing. The UB seemed to have some 4-5 episodes of JJKN roled into one. Maybe it seemed so because it was long episode. It seems Aryan had a gender change. And no one can beat Nandoo or Jassi-Nandoo friendship. I can't recall anyone's name in UB except for Betty's. Anyway, So far it doesn't come close to JJKN. Lets wait for it to reach the point where T&D had lost their minds. Maybe then it will appeal more.
