Jassi haunts Mona Singh!

Is the actor's TV persona threatening her career?

Playing Jassi in the TV serial Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin was probably the biggest high for Mona Singh. But that was the case while the show was on air. Now, 'Jassi' seems to have become more of a problem for Mona whether she admits it or not.

TV serial makers are unsure about signing Mona for lead roles as they feel audiences identify her so much with Jassi's character that it's difficult for them to break the mould.

What does Mona have to say about this? "I don't blame people for remembering me as Jassi. They have seen me as Jassi for the last three years and it's only normal if they recognise me as her. I don't regret it at all," she says.

Why, then, has she not signed another TV serial? "Well, I needed a break, so after Jassi... I took a long break. Another reason is that I want to do something that will be as unique as Jassi. So, I have decided to take up a reality show."

The show is Extreme Makeover, and as the title suggests, is about giving people makeovers. So, how important is beauty to Mona?

"More than beauty, it's about being presentable. Of course, in a field like TV, films or the hospitality industry, looks do make a difference."

On the personal front, Mona has been linked with her co-star Karan Oberoi. "These rumours have ruined my life (laughs). I am very much single," she says.

Besides TV, Mona's Bollywood dreams too seem to have been stalled. "No, the movie was not supposed to happen right now. It's still in the initial stages. Also, the makers wanted me to lie low for sometime. The hero too has to be finalised." It seems like people will continue to remember Mona as Jassi, at least till her career gets a makeover of sorts!
