Jassi is shocked out of her senses to hear Beauty's words. She grabs her arm forcefully.
Jassi: Beauty, yeh tum kya keh rahi ho!
Beauty: Didi, mujhe phi pehle shaq nahin hua…..par isse sab baatein saaf ho jaati hai….unhone mujhse kaha hi….(she tells Jassi about her and Raj's conversation that evening.)
Jassi is dumbfounded. She remembers Raj's infatuation for Jessica Bedi, which she had scornfully brushed off as one of his usual games. Now she wonders, "Kya Raj…sachmuch serious tha….? Kya wo sirf Armaan ki khatir chup tha..?"
Armaan is paralysed at what he has overheard. Neither of them has noticed him. After a few seconds, when he regains his senses, he hears Beauty telling Jassi about what she had talked over with Raj that evening. Armaan thinks frantically, "Raj, mere dost…..tune mujhse itni badi baat chupayi…..mujhe toh abhi bhi vishwas nahin ho raha hai…..nahin, ye sach nahin ho sakta!" And with this thought he turns around and leaves.
After he has left, Jassi tries to explain to Beauty—"Agar jo tum keh rahi ho wo sach hai, toh bhi, Beauty…..isse kuch nahin badalta…..Raj ne jisse pyaar kiya, wo main nahin, Jessica thi….agar wo pyaar aaj tak zinda bhi hai, toh bhi…..wo pyaar Jassi ke liye nahin hai…..aur Jassi ka pyaar sirf Armaan ke liye hai…! Maine hamesha sirf Armaan se pyaar kiya hai, Beauty….aur Raj ko yeh achchi tarah se pata hai…"
Beauty: (sadly) Par didi……aisa kyun hota hai…..Babaji aise kissi ka dil tootne kaise de sakte hai?
Jassi: (firmly) Babaji kissi ka dil nahin todte, Beauty……lekin wo kabhi-kabhi humse intezaar karvaate hai….hamari pareeksha lene ke liye….aur sahi waqt par, wo usse bhejte hain jo hamare liye sahi hai….
When they finally go inside, it is time for JandA to leave.Jassi looks for Armaan but can't see him in the house. She finds him standing moodily in one corner of the garden.
Jassi: (placing a hand on his shoulder) Armaan….chale…?
Armaan turns around and gives her an agonized glance. Without a word, he prepares to leave. Jassi stares after him in astonishment.
Driving back home, Jassi keeps casting glances towards Armaan, who steadfastly avoids them. She places her hand on his knee. He stares wistfully at it.
Jassi: (getting alarmed) Armaan, sab theek toh hai na? Tum mujhse baat kyun nahin kar rahe…?
Armu: (struggling with tears) Kuch nahin Jassi…..bas mujhe thodi der ke liye akela chod do….
Jassi: ….par Armaan….!
Armu: (angrily) maine kaha na….please leave me alone!
They have reached the Suri house. Armaan brakes and tells Jassi, "Tum chalo….main kissi kaam se ja raha hun….mere liye wait mat karna!"
Jassi: Iss waqt kaunsa kaam hai Armaan? Tum kahan ja rahe ho?
But Armaan does not answer her questions and drives away. Jassi is left standing by the side of the road, bewildered and worried.
Armaan drives straight to Raj's house. After he rings the doorbell several times, a sleepy Raj opens the door.
Raj: Arre, tu yahan….iss waqt….everything allright?
Armu: Mujhe andar nahin bulayega, Raj?
Raj: Of course, of course….(makes way for him to enter)….lekin bata toh sahi, baat kya hai….(jokingly) Jassi ne ghar se nikaal diya kya..?
At the mention of Jassi's name, Armaan winces and tears well up in his eyes. Struggling to control himself, he says in a falsely jovial voice, "Main kya relax karne tere paas nahin aa sakta? Tere bar mein whisky toh hogi….?"
Puzzled and alarmed, Raj nevertheless pours out drinks for them, watching Armaan's face. Armu downs the first drink in one gulp and pours himself more. Raj takes his drink in his hand and sits next to him; apparently sensing that Armaan will talk after a few drinks.
Several glasses later, Armu blurts out, "Raj, tu mera dost nahin hai!"
Raj is nonplussed but still keeps his tone casual. "Yeh tu kya keh raha hai?"
Armu: (gritting his teeth) Haan…..tu mera dost nahin hai….main sochta tha ki hamare beech koi secrets nahin hai…..but I was wrong!
Raj: Armaan, saaf-saaf bol….tu kis secret ke baare mein baat kar raha hai…?
Armu: Teri zindagi ka sabse bada secret….jo tune mujhse aaj tak chupaake rakha….i won't forgive you, Raj!
Raj: (impatiently) Bas kar yaar! Bahut der se teri baatein sun raha hoon….tune bataana hai to bataa, nahin toh….just forget it!
Armaan turns around sharply to look him straight in the eye.
"Kya ye sach nahin hai ki tu Jassi se pyaar karta hai?"
Raj is rooted to the spot.
Monday: Raj confesses to Armaan.
