Bombed emergency services???

Yet another terrible day for Mumbai! The serial bomb blasts that left more than 180 dead and tore apart around 470 rush-hour commuters in the local trains last evening (7/11) left every Mumbaikar flabbergasted. The point which was repeatedly stressed by the media was the inadequacy of the emergency facilities after the blasts occurred. The mobile networks went kaput in times of the crisis, and the reports also said that the police and the railway police were not really equipped to handle the situation.

This space has always witnessed television actors giving their bit on every topical issue and this time too, Riya V Anandwala talks to some of them and they chip in their views on the state of emergency services of Mumbai.

I am in Pune right now, but of course I know what happened in Mumbai. My cousin was down from Spain and was traveling in the local train, as he had heard loads about it. And while traveling the blasts took place just three bogies away from his. This was something unexpected but the emergency services are certainly expected to be on time. Luckily, he got saved, but he witnessed something which was truly appalling. Why only the blasts, the 26/7 loss also saw the loss emergency services provided by the people in concern. Once again Mumbai has proved that the citizens are good enough to handle everything.

Well, in my opinion we shouldn't be so judgmental about these issues of the emergency services not being up to the mark. I did see people saying on television that none of these services were given when the tragedy occurred, but still we should stay calm. On the other hand I must say that the spirit of Mumbai was mind boggling. I saw the people helping the victims, and also the trespassers who were unable to get transport on the road. So I think that we shouldn't get judgmental and must keep up the spirit of Mumbai.

I was not in town, but when I came back I heard about this dreadful incident in the city. I don't really think that anybody was bad at their job. Everyone from police to the ambulance services was up to the mark. The citizens of Mumbai did a commendable job by helping their fellow men. After all this, I don't really think that I have any complains!

I am not in town right now, but the moment this tragic incident took place, I received messages from all over the city. I did watch the news channels about the lack of help system and all of that, and on the other hand I even saw how Mumbaikars took charge of things. How secure are we? This is the only question which comes to mind! The officials can't take care of the roads, what will they take care of such unexpected incidents?? It's good to see how everybody helped each other. Mumbai certainly has an undying spirit.

I am not surprised! I did hear that the services were not provided on time, and also saw the spirit of Mumbai. The concerned people didn't do anything, so the people had to put their foot down and aid the needy. Other than this incident, after the deluge which happened on 26/7 no measures were taken to protect the city, and this was proved on 4/7. I just have one question, where is our money going???
