Finally caught up with Raell Padamsee and Vikranth Pawar's Anything But Love starring Mandira Bedi and Samir Soni as a divorced couple, not quite over each other even after five years and different partners. They meet accidentally at a restaurant, start bickering and between broken bra straps and stuck zippers are a whole lot of funny, often risqu situations.
Probably inspired by Private Lives (or some other play), Anything But Love keeps the snappy dialogue coming every few seconds and despite the contrived goings-on, is quite enjoyable. Mandira Bedi is convincing as the woman caught between two husbands and not being able to make up her mind! She speaks clearly in a perfectly normal Indian style, while Samir Soni hams with a put-on American accent. Since audiences are presumably paying a larger chunk of the ticket bucks (a few hundreds) to see Mandira, they are getting their money's worth. She is arguably better on stage than she is on TV.
