Jassi's sari state of affairs
Santacruz store owner claims he is creator of Jassi's outfits and not designer Rina Dhaka

Jassi, Jessica, Neha Shastri – as the much-madeover babe gears up for yet another avatar (this time in saris, heavy jewellery and presumably a new name) on Sony's Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin, the owner of a store called Seasons in Santacruz alleges that the channel has fudged on the credits for the sari especially designed for Jassi. Sony claims that Jassi's clothes for her new look have been designed by Rina Dhaka. But the pictures of the collection issued in the press are apparently creations of a suburban store that specialises in designer wear. So whose sari is it anyway?
Says Kalpesh Patel, owner of Seasons, "On the show, Jassi has never worn a sari designed by Rina Dhaka. All the saris are by Seasons. She has never shot for live or still cameras in a Rina Dhaka creation. The channel is misinforming people. They are lying to the people by saying that her clothes are Rina Dhaka's creations when actually they are using Seasons' collections. They are trying to attract public attention by using Rina Dhaka's name."
Further, he adds, "We have been designing clothes for Jassi. If you notice, our name is mentioned in the credits of the serial. But I don't understand why the channel (Sony) is doing this to us. They have issued to the press a picture of Jassi wearing a sari which is our creation. But they have said that Rina Dhaka created it. This is not the first time this has happened. Even when Jassi's wedding was being promoted, they (Sony) put up hoardings of Jassi wearing lehengas from Seasons but went about saying that Neeta Lulla had designed them.
When I asked the channel, they apologized and assured us that it will not happen again. I took them at their word and believed them. But it has happened again. Jassi shot for scenes in our creation and the outfit was returned to us. The sari in question is with us. Rina Dhaka doesn't have it. The designer (Rina Dhaka) seems to have given the channel money for publicity. It is a marketing gimic"
The producer of the serial, Tony Singh, said, "I don't want to comment on anything."
The creative head for the show from the channel, Gursheel Walia, attempted to clear the air, "I want to make it clear that this is not Jassi's makeover. It is just a new look for her. Secondly, she will wear outfits designed by both Rina Dhaka and Seasons. However, we have taken just one or two saris from Seasons, the rest are from Rina Dhaka. It is not necessary that clothes shown in the picture are necessarily by Rina or by Seasons because a lot of pictures do get clicked on the sets."
What does the channel have to say about Patel's allegation about the clothes used by Jassi during the promotion of the wedding episodes? Walia said, "The marketing team may use a different outfit for the promos and what may be used in the serial may be different. In the episodes, however, Rina Dhaka's designs were used."
However, channel insiders said, "Pictures released in the media were in clothes by Seasons. They are not part of the makeover. Makeover outfits are from Rina Dhaka's collection."
Rina Dhaka, when contacted in Delhi, said, "I don't want to take credit for someone else's creation. But if something like this has happened, then you should check with the people there. I had designed about 4 to 5 outfits for Jassi sometime back when Queenie Dhody was also doing her makeover." But has Jassi ever worn her designs? Rina said, "I don't know. I don't even watch Jassi… And frankly if it actually is a creation of some Seasons store (which I don't even know of) then they (Seasons) should be happy that their collection has been tagged with my name. In fact, it is I who should be feeling disturbed that my name is being attached to a creation of some store like that."
