Chapter 1

Roshni looks around as he takes her outside; people were lying on the ground as if taking cover. Then her eyes fall on the few armed men lying still, no they were not taking cover they were already dead. Blood had pooled around their body; instantly she clutches his shirt tightly on seeing it. That made him look at her, her eyes were shut tight and she was trying to find safety in his arms.

"You are fine. Don't worry." he whispered to which she slightly nods her head. He fastens his pace and comes out of the building. Few black SUVs were standing in front of it, there were policemen taking position for a lookout for any unusual activities.

He puts her down near the car and says, "Stay here. I mean it."

She wanted to ask him about what was going on, but he didn't give her a chance to speak. He walks towards a woman who was standing at a distance, "What are you waiting for? Take her home."

"You should speak with the Mayor. Change of plans." She handed him the phone.

His stance changes immediately, he was upright at once and spoke with dignity.

"Yes, Ma'am."

Roshni eyes him angrily from the corner of her eyes and murmurs, "Mom ka chamcha"

"But Ma'am I.." he tried to put forward his point only to be cut off from the other end of the line. He cuts the call and bangs his fist on the bonnet of the SUV.

A strange shiver ran through her body seeing his rage and she takes a small step backwards.

"I am a bloody Detective! I don't do errand works like these! Do I look like a Nanny?" he shouted at the woman standing close to him.

"I'm sorry Sid, but you are the best ranger out here in the field and Mayor doesn't want to take any risks when it comes down to her daughter." said the woman keeping her hands on his shoulder.

He shoves her hands with a scoff and turns to look at Roshni with raging sharp eyes.

Suddenly the rage disappears as fear crept in them, he strides towards Roshni, Roshni closes her eyes in horror that he was coming towards her to hurt her - but in fact he actually takes her in cover as she hears a gun fire.

They fall on the ground together, while the other officers start counter firing towards the place from where the gun fire had been shot. He opens his eyes to see her, she was cringing in pain - he looks down and sees that the bullet had left a scratch mark on her waist wetting her shirt with blood.

"Hey, look at me" - he slaps her lightly on the face, "It's just a flesh wound, everything will be alright! Ok? Just stay with me." he ensured her. She clutches his collar tight; as he picked her up and makes her sit inside the car.

As soon as he turned to leave, she holds his hands, "Please don't leave me alone" she whispered staring in his dark eyes.

"If you want to stay alive, then you have to let me go.." he spoke in a rush and doesn't wait for her to respond.

He takes out his pistol and takes cover, "We need to take her to safety" he yelled over the gunshots to his partner.

"Here take the keys, you drive I'll cover you" she throws the keys towards him and they crawl back to the car. Siddharth ignites the engine, whereas Kate; his partner; sits beside him and shoots back at the gangsters who were approaching them. They flee the scene.

After passing few blocks, they realize that the gangsters were following them in bikes.

"We are being followed!" Kate informs Siddharth.

"Ahhh..." screamed Roshni from the back seat.

Kate and Siddharth's attention gets diverted to her, Siddharth looks back at Kate with a confused expression.

Kate smirks, and says, "Hey give me your jacket" She opens her bun and spreads her hair, letting it fall on her shoulder messily. Siddharth starts taking sharp turns, in order to outdo the bikers.

Roshni gives her the jacket and asks, "What are you going to do with it? I need to go to the hospital, the pain is unbearable.." she shrieked at the end.

"You just need to be patient for a while, we are trying our best to save you!" yelled Siddharth as he took a left turn.

"Mike is waiting for us at the corner of Bor and Bun', take another right and then head towards it. That should give us enough time..." said Kate after reading her messages.

Siddharth does as she say, and they get a few minutes in hand before the mobsters could get an eye on them. Those few minutes were enough for them, as Kate and Mike get on a bike looking like Siddharth and Roshni while Roshni climbs up in front seat of the SUV.

As soon as the mobsters come in sight, they make it look like Siddharth and Roshni were fleeing in the motor bike - hence they follow the bike and leave the SUV alone.

Once the sight gets cleared Siddharth drives to a shady street nearby and stops the car at the back alley of a motel.

"Why are we here?! I need to go home.. I need a doctor.." she rambled. Siddharth ignores her and gets out of the car, he goes inside the building. After a few minutes he comes out, and opens Roshni's side of the car door. He helps her come out of the car,

"What is happening? Where are you taking me? Why are they after my life?" she was confused.

She wanted answers, but the stubborn man in front of her refused to give her any. So she stops following him and stands rooted near the bonnet of the car, Siddharth turns around to see her adamant behavior. He sighs and walks up to her,

"What now?" he asks roughly.

"I need a doctor." She said blandly.

"You will not get any." he stared in her eyes, making it sure that she understood.

"How indifferent can you be?! I am hurt, I am bleeding and you are... you are not even concerned!! Leave that, you are not even answering me!" she screamed at his face.

He puts her hands on her mouth shutting her and lifts her up, and walks slowly towards the motel.. Roshni struggles in his grip, trying to escape him but all in vain. They reach the door of a room and he finally puts her down,

"Shhh!" he puts his fingers on her lips before she could utter a word.

"The mobs are after you. We are in a motel, hiding from them until we get further orders from the Mayor. And why are they after your life? You should ask your mother about that." he says calmly staring at her terrified state. Hearing him, she composes herself and her stiffened body relaxes.

Siddharth opens the door and they step in, he switches on the light and she notices the two single beds in the room. At once she turns to him,

"You are spending the night here, with me?" she asked with eyes wide open.

"Where else might I be?" he smirked seeing the horror in her eyes and sits on the nearest bed.
