I disagree here...
To an extent of creating a heart-attack drama, and then accusing innocent couple of dowry and setting a place on fire. And ofcourse cheating her daughter by trying to replace the groom.. She is not justified in any case.Who says that fulfilling responsibilities means that you should shut off your emotional side and let her innocent daughter suffer? The problem is that DD is a failed mother. She could have earned money but she let her ego, her pride and his scheming manipulative and dangerous brain take over her. And i dont think what she has for Roshni is love, but her ego and urge to prove that she is not a bad mother.

In many families actually father's have no time to spend with their children as they have to take care of the familly financially when mother's fulfil that homely and caring part. Here as female protagonist has no father, eventually her mother tried to fulfil her father's role in her life which I think is more necessary to live a happy life (to mention she is not at all left alone, she has other relatives in the same house). In that process DD left her emotional bonding with family somewhere in the past.DD just doesn't like Sid as she feels that her daughter who has grown up like a princess, now has to live like an ordinary person, she may change when Sid reveals his real identity and status in the society. Usually parents are posessive towars their children and their happiness for which they tend to go to any extent.
