Nachiket held Ragini close to him for what seemed like ages, while in reality, it was just a few heart stopping moments. Fishing out a handkerchief from his pocket, he handed it to Ragini who now wiped her eyes and blew her nose, making a comical face.
'A true gentleman you are, Dr Khanna' she said, he now flinched from the soiled kerchief.
'Only a good Boy Scout' he replied, stuffing his hands into his pockets, as he continued
'...whose heart melts every time he sees you smile like this.'
Ragini tiptoed and kissed the tip of his now cold nose. She then started laughing once again as he shrieked, as her cold hands now crept up across his waist finding purchase to his skin.
'Not fair Ragini' he cried out.
'Your hands are so cold. Take them back, I say. Take them back.'
He now managed to take her hands off him. Instead, bundling them together, he rubbed them to infuse some more warmth to them. They had been careless, they should have gotten some scarves or shawls or something, he thought.he didn't want her to catch cold and fall ill, after all.
Pulling her close to him, he started guiding her back to the car
'Let's get you out of this cold, Ragini'
As she smiled back at him, he bent down and slightly pecked her on the corner of her mouth, as he whispered
'I have plans ... for tonight'
he felt Ragini smile against his mouth as they moved away.
Both of knew that their talks were far away from over.
...
An hour later
Suhaani excited showed her new dresses to Ragini, as the boys flocked around. Each of them had purchased something or the other, and they had wanted to show their parents.
'What is there to show actually?' Nachiket grutbled at Agham, who had bought a new hoodie.
'Just wear it like you always do.'
'Nachiket' Ragini admonished slightly.
Picking his cup of coffee, Nachiket walked over to the balcony and carefully opened it, mindful of not excess draught enter the room.
As he listened to the children chattering around their Mother and her intermittent responses, his mind worked furiously
- The separation of one floor did not stop them
- Should have booked them into a different hotel
- Should have sent them back to Mumbai
- Anything else, that applies
Working out a practical solution seemed unpractical. And then suddenly, he realised something - Ragini and he had not gone for their honeymoon this time around.
He hummed in the darkness as he drank some more coffee, he had a plan.
