@rishab: Feels great to have a Doc amongst us.
N doesnt have anything serious, he had fictional brain disease and Rachna has already cured it. so no tragedy expected.

Ragini stared at him with her eyes wide, surprised at his gesture, as she always was nowadays, still getting used to his complete and unwavering attention.. sometimes looking away from his eyes when they were sharing a meal just because she could not handle the intensity.. she feared she would lose herself.. but it was all in her mind.. her heart had already lost itself to him many times over from the time he had come back to her and started a new life.

He imitated her action and widened his own eyes.. kissing her knuckles as they reached a part of the road that had a faulty lamp and partial darkness..

'This is better', she murmured.. convinced that they were not in public gaze and no one could catch her holding the lapel of his coat and rubbing her cheek against it.

'How come you're not cold?', she bundled up against him..

He laughed heartily and she heard the rumble of his laugh through his chest..

'I have two words for you. New York', he said and wrapped her close.

She smiled "is New York beautiful as Delhi in the cold" "no" "why" "because you are not there" she stopped and looked at him "so filmy nachiket" "its the truth now if you came with me to New York then it would be stunninly beautiful" she laughed and hugged him again.

They walked for a while just lost in each other when ragini stopped "we should get back for the kids" "5 more mins" they sat down on a bench and she had her head on his shoulder "still cold" she hugged him tighter "not as much" he smiled

They sat there on the bench for more than the promised 5 minutes, wrapped in each other's arms, soaking in the warmth and the love, when Nachiket whispered
'Ragini, there is something that I need to tell you. In fact, I needed to tell you much earlier, but I chickened out - chickened out at the prospect of losing you, losing our children.'

He could feel Ragini's body tense up in his arms, as she processed in the words, slowly yet methodically. He ran his hand up and down reassuringly on her back, as she slowly disengaged herself.

Nachiket knew this was going to be monumental. After all, he was guilty to a cause, and he had no means to justify the same. Or the intention either. He had waited long enough.

'What is it Nachiket?' she asked calmly, her eyes searching his, beseeching him to tell the truth.

He shifted a bit towards her and took her small, cold hands in his and rubbed it affectionately, while arranging his thoughts and emotions in place.

'You remember the first day I met Sameer and how jealous and absurd I was?' he started.
She nodded her head slightly and waited. He could now see the panic starting to arise in her eyes, compounded with confusion.

Taking a deep breath, he continued
'We patched up after we both talked as men should do. And we slightly warmed upto each other. Sameer requested me to look into the case files of a couple of his patients he was treating in Mumbai, who had coronary issues - and I agreed. That was our way to call it a truce and behave as equals.

A few cases later, we both relaxed and also realised that strangely, we gelled professionally.'

She waited, all the while praying. He managed a small smile to cheer her up but failed. His words sounded ominous to her wary ears and he continued

'Some time later, I suffered from two blackouts consecutively. They happened all of a sudden and I couldn't understand what was happening. It had never happened earlier. I thought I would be okay after some time though - I kept ignoring them, hoping against hope that they were nothing serious.'

He could now see the fear building up in her eyes, as they started tearing up.

'I consulted Sameer' he sighed.
'He mentioned that it was a tumour.'

Ragini felt her heart beat skip for a moment. The cold outside paled in comparison to the cold fear that gripped her heart.

A look at her face and Nachiket knew that she was panicking and hyper-ventilating, on her way to a shock.
He rubbed her back vigorously and shook her slightly
'Ragini ... sweetheart, it's okay. I am here, see ...'

'Nachiket ... ' she whispered, unable to say anything more. The tears now started rolling down.

He pulled her into his arms and held her close as she wept uncontrollably. Running his fingers through her air, he whispered

'We ran some tests, Ragini. And believe when I say that there is no tumour. It was a false alarm.'

She wept more furiously at his words.

'I am sorry Ragini. I believed that I was dying, and I was scared. I wanted to talk to you, hide in your arms, bury my face in your embrace and forget everything ... but I could not bring myself to tell you. I was so scared of losing everything, our children, you. '

He took a deep breath and waited.
