Nachiket took the kids to their favourite ice cream joint, post the graduation ceremony. He had taken the day off and the children were super happy.

As they sat at their table, slurping happily, he didn't fail to notice Ranbir getting up to attend a phone call. He returned a few minutes later, his eyes a bit animated. He came up to his Father, excused himself from the ice cream party and rushed away. Nachiket wanted to stop him and inquire, but he thought the better of it and stopped himself.

'I am famished' Aagham complained, as he pushed the door open.

'You just ate a tub of ice cream ...' Aarav laughed at his twin, as they all plopped down on the sofa, massaging their tummies.

'Tub?' A surprised voice greeted them from the hallway. They looked up to see their Mother standing there, with a ladle in her hand. What surprised them even more when their elder brother peeked from behind her, his apron squeaky clean.

'Mom' Aagham exclaimed, as he launched himself at her. 'I swear I didn't eat a tub of ice cream, only three-fourths of it.'

Nachiket entered the apartment to find the children flocking around their Mother, talking nineteen to the dozens.

'Quiet, all of you' he said as he locked the door behind him. 'You all are making so much noise, I could hear you all from the the staircase'.

'And what are you doing Ranbir? In that apron?' he asked.

His eldest son was now beaming

'Mom asked me to cook with her, I am loving it'

Nachiket's eyes met Ragini's for a second as he turned away.

'Am glad that somebody's happy, at least.'

There was pin drop silence for a few heartbeats before Ragini urged the children to go freshen up

'We are nearly done. Lunch will be served in 10 minutes flat.'

As Ranbir vanished inside the kitchen, Ragini walked towards Nachiket and said softly

'You too Nachiket. Please freshen up. The children will be super happy if you join them.'

He looked into her eyes as he asked

'And you?'

'Me too' she whispered as she walked away.

The Lunch was sumptuous and everybody was beaming by the end of it. Even Nachiket,

Ragini had taken care to cook favourites of each of them, and Aagham was now groaning with happiness. Ragini was especially proud of the kheer that Ranbir had cooked, and she goaded everybody to have more than one helping.

It was only when the children had retired to their rooms that Nachiket realised that Ragini had still not eaten. In the melee that had ensued, she was more happy to serve and oversee her family eating, he knew.

As he walked over to the kitchen, he saw Ragini clearing up the table.

'Aren't you going to eat?' he asked casually.

Ragini was surprised to see him there, she had thought he was now playing board games with the children. She felt highly conscious

'Yeah, I will. With Mom'

'Oh okay' he answered back.

'I was wondering that you would want to eat early and hop off to the Hospital.''

A glint in her eyes, he could fathom, as she turned away. A slight tremor in her voice as the words followed

'Yes I will, after a while. Dr Aman's sisters would be arriving today'

She quietly left the apartment and went downstairs.
