Hey guys,
Lately I have been wishing to discuss Ranbir. In the beginning of the show I absolutely despised him for his hostile behavior towards Aarav and his disrespect for Ragini. My hatred for him was promoted to a new level when he started to used shilpa to indirectly hurt his own mother knowing well that Aarav loved shilpa. Yet I noticed something different about his character in last week's episode.
Possible maturity...I am not sure.
However when the family was discussing to save Nishi's and Jignesh's marriage, Ranbir's face expressions were of conflict, they were unusual and I was surprised when he claimed that two individuals who love each other so much should also deserve to be together. His flashback about Shilpa aided me to reinforce the idea that he might feel remorse and guilt for his previous actions. When he first arrived to india, he claimed that his past no longer influenced him, however I feel it has a strong hand in his current behavior towards Nishi and Jignesh's marriage.
Don't get me wrong, I still believe that he is a player, he is flirtatious and in some sense it reminds me of the former Neil. Perhaps it Is an indication that ranbir too might fall in love and change? I do not know but I can sense that he is changing. I truly hope that he can mend his relationships with Aarav, I feel that Aarav is the individual which is preventing ranbir from moving on with his life.
Ranbir is a businesslike man who has a cold exterior and his emotions are limited which is a result of his upbringing. His character has not been developed that well and his connection to both Ragini and Neil has been somewhat lacking. Even on Ragini's birthday, he hesitantly had wished Ragini a happy birthday and when Ragini asked how he was, he responded with an unusal half forced half willing reply. He seems like the most unusual character to me, he understand a mother's pain, I know that for sure because when Pam cried about sacrificing her life for them, he had cried with her and comforted her. He feels for suhani and agham, when aagham got lost in India he was worried sick and when kartik became suhani's boyfriend, he pulled him aside and warned him to never hurt his sister. His feelings are distributed between only his side of the family. He has much more development left in his character and it would be nice if he showed the same concern for Nishi and Ragini, However I truly wish the writers could focus on is developing his relationship with Aarav, truly in the sense of brothers. I would love to see that. In fact even a development in his relationship towards Ragini could show a new level of maturity between the mother and the son. I really do seek that the parents connect with their children, spend some quality time with them, and I am looking forward to that.
While ranbir seems like the person who does not feel much, Aarav seems the opposite who feels too much. I really wish a comfort level can be established between them, they can balance out each other well. I seriously believe that Aarav would've have been closer to ranbir more than any of his siblings if ranbir did not act so hostile towards him. When Aarav first met him, he looked up to ranbir, there was respect and there was kindness and love. Believe me, I love and sympathize with Aarav much more than I do with ranbir but I seriously would prefer to see this relationship again in the future. But this time I want ranbir to equally respect and cherish Aarav.
Sincerely A.
