OS: You Me aur Ham.
"Please Ragini, stop crying! You can't break down like this. Nishi will be fine', Nachiket said softly in an attempt to calm Ragini.
But she still wept uncontrollably on his shoulder.
'Shhh...Ragini, you know I can't see tears in your eyes.' He said and kissed the top of her head.
Finally giving up, he let her cry to help her soothe her anguish. She clutched onto his sleeves and gripped it hard letting all her worries of a mother flow out as tears.
The parents had just bid good bye to their newly wed daughter Nishi and her husband to her new abode. Nishi looked cheerful for she was married to love of her life but her tears despite the smile said another story altogether. She was to live away from her mother who brought her up like princess, away from her father who was her superhero just in a span of few weeks he spent with her during the wedding, away from all the known faces and move into a new home with a new family.
Ragini fell down to her knees as she cried further and said, 'My baby Nachiket! I can't think of my life without her.'
'If this breaks you so much, think how I lived without both of you Ragini', Nachiket murmured trying hard to hold back his emotions. He was never this vulnerable. He died a million deaths to see his Ragini so shattered. His heart cried too, to see his daughter gone whom he loved so dearly since she was born.
His words jolted her out of her grief. Ragini slowly looked up into his eyes. His eyes - red and teary. His eyes - filled with worry and grief. His eyes - brimming with love for her, for their daughter. His eyes said all that he couldn't say it in words.
Nishi was his child too. He was a parent too. He had his fears and worries too. So what he stayed away from her for 15 long years? So what if he missed her growing up years? That did not mean he loved his daughter less, the daughter he longed to have.'
She vividly remembered the day when Nishi was born. She had never ever seen Nachiket happier in his life. Not even then, when he proposed to her, not even then, when they got married, not even then, when he held his first born Ranbir in his hands.
'Nishi was his world just as mine', she thought.
Her man never cried for he was too strong to let anything affect him but he was a father, a doting father to their daughter. He looked away in an attempt to hide his tears that just dropped on her. He never felt this exposed and weak and realized he was failing to fight his tears.
Ragini slowly cupped his face and wiped his tears as she said, 'OUR baby Nachiket! And I know she will be fine.'
Nachiket wrapped her tightly in his arms securely. He was crying she knew as she felt the wet of his tears as he buried his head in her neck. She remained there in his arms for what felt like eternity offering silent comfort that no one could ever offer in words or gestures. Only a wife could to her husband, to the father of her child.
They were not an estranged couple at that moment but parents who put behind all their difference and empathized with one another.
