Hai Everyone how are you doing??

I am back after 3 or 4 years of hiatus on India Forums 😊

I regularly watch IKNMP when it started. Seeing it reminds me of a 2001 Hind film Kuch Khatti Kuch Meethi starring Sunil Shetty and Kajol in a double role; I think the plot of the show is little bit similar but with a much more mature content of parents handling kids after divorce, a first for any show and Indian Television.

Plot / Synopsis of Kuch Khatti Kuch Meethi

Raj Khanna (Rishi Kapoor) is a wealthy businessman who lives with his wife Archana (Rati Agnihotri), stepsister Devyani (Mita Vasisht), her spouse, and her son Teddy, in a mansion. Raj and Archana's lives are marred by marital discord, so much that they decide to separate. Shortly before separating, Archana gives birth to identical twins. One of these is taken by Devyani and handed over to Raj without Archana's knowledge. This infant subsequently grows up to be an embittered young woman sentimentally named Sweety (Kajol). Raj becomes a helpless alcoholic. Archana has moved to London with the other daughter, Tina (Kajol). In contrast to Sweety's ferocity, Tina is a meek, compassionate, sympathetic, demure person as a rule. Each year, Archana buys two identical presents and gives one to Tina on her birthday, locking the other into a closet to symbolize giving to Sweety, whom she believes is dead.

Sweety is of marriageable age, but refuses to marry the man of her aunt's choice, and runs away to London. Once there, she is mistaken for her sister by Archana. Later, when the twins meet, become friends, and realize that Devyani has been scheming to keep Raj under her control, they change places in hope of freeing Raj and reuniting their family. Tina goes to India, where she works to cure Raj of his alcoholism and remove Devyani's influence on him. Sweety remains in England, where she surprises her mother by acting according to her own personality. The sisters have assumed each other's names, so as to keep their operation secret.

When Tina meets with Raj, she finds out that he is having a sexual affair with a young woman named Savitri (Pooja Batra), who was introduced to him by Devyani. When Savitri attempts to drug and seduce him, in hope of having him impregnate her (and so bind himself to her), Tina gives the drug to Raj's aged, faithful, comical servant Ballu Mamaji, who responds to the seduction instead of Raj. Savitri becomes pregnant with Ballu Mamaji's child; later, Sweety and Tina marry her off to a wealthy man they know, bribing her to agree by having this man throw money onto her. Ballu Mamaji attempts to counter this with his own offer, but is refused. Eventually, through a series of tricks, the twins fool Raj and Archana into reconciling. Devyani's plots to gain power are exposed. Ultimately Raj, of his own will, urges Archana to stay.

All in all I am loving this show its a masterpiece. Here are a few similarities between the characters of the film and TV show

Dr. Neil Khanna = Raj Khanna (Rishi Kapoor's role from the film)

Ragini Patel = Archana (Rati Agnihotri's role from the film)

Dr Aman = Ranjeet (Archana's friend and well wisher ) (Parmeet Sethi's role from the film)

Sunny Tai = Baloo male servant who takes care of the house hold (Razzak Khan's role from the film. They have reversed the role in the show instead of a male maid there is a female maid, who takes care of the house hold)

Pam Khanna = Devyani (Raj's elder step sister) (Mita Vashisht's role from the film; though I don't know who is elder or younger in the show. There are character similarities too)

Nivedita = Savitri (Pooja Batra's role from the film in fact both are greedy for money and are planted by their respective sisters in show and film)

Karan = Ranjeet (Raj's well wisher ) (Parmeet Sethi's role from the film, Here he plays Ragini's friend and well wisher as well)

Nishi = Tina (Raj and Archana's Twin Daughter) (Kajol's Role from the film; Nishi is also trying to make their parents patch up as well the same thing was done by Tina as well along with her sister Sweety Khanna who is 16 year old Suhani in the show)

Jignesh = Sameer (Sunil Shetty's role from the film; both of them also also try and help sisters in their mission to bring both parents together)

Ranveer Khanna = Teddy (Devyani's Son) (Mayur's role from the film) Both of them together with their mother and step mother plan how to keep Archana and Raj along with Kids away as well as Neil and Ragini along with Nishi and Aarav away from each other. Character are identical here.)

Suhani Khanna = Sweety Khanna (Kajol plays a double role in the film) (Suhani is 16 years old and has been bought by Neil in a identical manner Sweety is brought up Raj though its not completely true she was kept away by Devyani but on the show Pam brought her up like her own child. They both help their siblings to bring their estranged parents together.)

Dimpy = Doctor Khurana (Devyani's husband or lover) (Pramod Moutho's role from the film) (Here Dimpy is married to Karan; probably she doesn't like to see Ragini and Neil together and helps Pam in her plans) (Doctor on the other hand lies to Archana that one of her kid is dead during pregnancy and helps Devyani in her plans.)

I have a gut feeling that Pam and Dimpy are plotting together to keep Ragini and Neil away from each other; though I might be wrong. Have to wait and see what is the actual reason for both of them splitting away.

What does everyone of you think??

I agree with all things except for dimpy joining hands with pam... dimpy herself said to pam that if ragini had not been married... she would have definitely tried to get neil and ragini together.. but since she is married(dimpy and karan assumed it when they saw ragini and aman together at the super market), she wants him happy.neil... and so she is helping him.

when dimpy said so... pam yelled at her left right and center... poor thing was abused verbally.

dimpy could also be equated to ranjeet's character, as that of a friend.

also agham could be equated to tina's character... with a flavour of sweety's character... as the boy is sweet but strong willed and could stand up to his elder brother when he says wrong things about ragini or his other two siblings.

I have chose the parameters or other aspects while making comparisons 😊. All 4 siblings are helping each other; the move was first made by Nishi. Agam and Suhani didn't even knew they had 2 other siblings who stay in India.

I view Dimpy as Neil's friend only, because she never enquiried whether Ragini is really married or not. She never spoke to Ragini on a regular basis and could have been firm on her ground and should have given a fitting reply to Pam who is a loud mouth screamer that "Main Ragini ki bhi dost hoon, sirf Neil ki nahin" (I am Ragini's friend too not only Neii's). Dimpy never took Ragini's side. I feel only Aman and Karan are Ragini's true friends and take her side plus help her in any way possible

I watch the episodes at least 4 times before making analysis. So everyone of you is right here 😊.

Kuch Khatti Kuch Meethi (2001 film) was a comeback vehicle for Rati Agnihotri in Character roles after a 15 year retirement from movies. And a comeback for Rishi Kapoor in Character Roles. Similarly this show is a Comeback Vehicle for both Pallavi and Ronit 😃.
