Character discussions - Arnav, Khushi and Anjali

I have recently started watching this serial and God i love it…. I have watched till their wedding for second time has finally happened!! Pheww… lovelove it… madly in love with Arnav khushi… from the begining, till now..they have handled their love story very maturely..from Arnav’s initial attraction towards khushi, masking his admiration for her in anger…, denial of his feelings for her…to finally accepting them…to now..when they are finally married..One thing I am bit confused..as I am watching this for the first time…. Do you guys also feel, that when Arnav finally reached Mandap, aftr getting to know Garimas truth…had he made up his mind already that he will marry khushi..or he was still in two minds about it…as the first thing he said..is that I am here only because of you, wheres there lies, deceit and pain..and upon hearing his words, when she was about to faint and fall, and he saves her from falling…did he then finally decide to go ahead with the wedding..when he saw her condition? I felt that he decided at that point when khushi was about to fall..and not when he arrived at the mandap…otherwise why would he say,,that I am here because of you..and all athat about dhoka, and nafrat…What do you guys think?

I like to think that all those dialogs and his way of talking was just telly drama to confuse the audience . I mean, there were quite some speculations back in those days... that Arnav would leave her and they would show a separation track with a leap... perhaps even add a child to the mix because their consummation scene was specially added just the night before the marriage (I don't usually compare shows but basically people were expecting something similar to Bade Ache Lagte Hai). And the makers decided to subvert the expectations by showing something exactly opposite... but of course, after adding some drama .

So yes, I believe that Arnav had already decided to marry her...that's the only reason why he would even come to the Mandap. If he didn't want to marry, why come at all? Coming and rejecting her would be even more heartless ... so maybe he was just venting his frustration about the situation he was in, but that he had still come for her .

Just my two paisa on this scene .

Maybe he knew that he would marry her, as he was thinking about her, just before his accident .. how she risked her life for him during his kidnappinh phase and screamed khushii…also remembering his mothers words..not to punish flowers…..but maybe he came there , thinking he would eventually marry her but wanted some explanations from garima before that.. hence his dialogues that when i loved you, i didnt know its related to our past and tht i never knew my past would haunt me like this, on my wedding day..and his dialogue that i am here because of you where theres nothing but lies, hate and deception….. but when he saw her fainting and falling, i think at that point.. he just decided to let his past go and move on wholeheartedly without any explanations..

Also i liked the fact tht after knowing Garimas truth.. after initial reaction / shock from Anjali and Nani jee which was to reject this rishta.. which was obviously very natural, but when they saw Khushi’s condition .. they both mellowed down and then wanted Arnav to come and go ahead with this wedding

What I like even more is how Naniji makes Arnav promise that he has accepted Khushi wholeheartedly and won't hold this against her later. Like you said, after the initial reaction, she didn't want this to affect their relationship negatively. Makes you wonder how she... and for that matter even Anjali.... would have reacted, had they found out the reason behind Arshi's first marriage and Arnav's ill-treatment of Khushi at that time .

Arnav was a lost cause from the very beginning.. His Ex, Lavanya saw it.. His Naani saw it.. His di saw it, her bhua knew it.. NK knew it..

Pretty damn sure, the house help, Ramprakash also knew it...

And I agree, it was all added for some tadka where he goes to the mandap and there was a pause.. But when he came to the mandap, he came there to wed her, against everything that was holding him against to go ahead with the wedding..

And I am glad they did get wed.. Not cos of the con, one night before that.. (though it did make me uncomfortable all those years back, thinking it shall lead to them getting separated later), and not only cos they were the end game.. But because it proved that Arnav 's redemption was real and not as per his convenience.

This scene was agter family had gone to mandir, and Armavs flight jad got cancelled and family returned and they saw them in intimate position and Anjali thought he lied to her…He also said he married khushi not for love, but for Anjali.. ok this part was true .. but when he said.. that I didnt love khushi begore our marriage and I only fell in live agtdr we got married.. I was like “What the..” lolll.. is that why you kissed her before marriage and also danced with her on teri meri when she was about to lose? And also he was just about to go and confess to khushi when he saw khushi and shuam together and misunderstood… loll.. who was he trying to fool?

Again a track added for telly drama. A typical man stuck between his mother and wife sorta scene... although they replaced mum with sis... but Anjali was almost like a mother to Arnav so similar parallels. I usually skip all these scenes when rewatching because nearly all the characters were butchered post the kidnapping track... especially Anjali.

For this scene in particular, I just think that Arnav was being sensitive to Anjali's delicate condition at that time.... and saying whatever she needed to hear from him. If you look at the scene, Anjali is appeased on hearing all this, so Arnav’s goal was achieved.

Yes, it was senseless, for Arnav to say it and also for Anjali to be happy about it. Anjali has always been an Arshi shipper so this wasn't something that sat well with me, but I try to explain it away as her instantaneous negative reaction towards Khushi for being the reason Shyam was thrown out.... as well as past trauma acting up and making her even more clingy towards her Chote. While the effect of their past is seen more clearly in Arnav's behavior and personality traits, let's not forget that Anjali went through it all too... and perhaps even more as her marriage was also broken off. While she might seem to have moved on from it all, it is likely that when hardships come, she will cling to the only unwavering support she has known all her life... and when she's used to having his whole attention, it wouldn't have been easy for her to accept that his priorities have shifted now.

I personally believe, Arnav did need a better balance. Yes, the flight miss wasn't his fault... nor was him trying to spend time with his wife or wooing her. But the timing of this track was very ridiculous because how could Arnav... who is so dedicated to his sis that he could marry someone he apparently "hated" just to save her marriage... be so ignorant towards her need for attention now?! It is all kinds of stupid and needed better writing and more heartfelt scenes... but after the 1 month long kidnapping track, they were probably trying to give more Arshi content to satisfy the audience, even though it didn't make a lot of sense at that time .

Oh yes.. armav surely was a lost cause from the begining.. all his anger towards her was just his own frustration that he couldnt stop thinking abt her and how her pain always affected him, no matter what… and also CVs handled Arnav character growth well, as considering his personality, when on diwali he tried to kiss her, how he couldnt believe himself that how he had no control over himself and his ego got hurt and in frustration , he got engaged to Lavanya..

I loved lavanya too.. very rare positive third angle in a show.. such gracefully she exited.. i wish she had made a comeback later but i know she wouldnt
